"eligibility to work in the UK" - permitted to work in the UK eg. Visas that allow an individual to work in the UK.

CeeCyrils:
Guys, please what do they mean by "eligibility to work in the UK"?

Also, some sites are asking for qualifications. Should I just list the ones relevant to this health and care jobs or I should start from my O'level to Post Graduate level?

Kindly clarify us. Thank you

I think I know where you are coming from. I get that a lot too and I feel it depends on the company. Some say; "you must be authorised or be eligible to work in the UK"...like a hidden message about the availability of a CoS. I never really am sure, and apply to the ones that will allow me to go through to the end, anyway, as you must know by now that some automatically shut you out, upon saying that you don't have the right to work.

By qualifications, most are specific and say relevant qualifications. Of cos, it could be tempting to add Waec, GCE, Neco and which one again, since they are ever so proud of their own vocational trainings and GSCs or whatever, but when you want to fill the part for grade (for trac jobs) and provider and year...it won't make sense.

Just my understanding tho...I Neva get work to speak authoritatively embarassed

@Dafidi08, thank you for the kind words. We can do with some. It just pains me that despite the fact that they need us soooo much, their dispositions do not encourage.

Some of their criteria sef na war and I'd be like; " do you really effing want us to come or not?!" Asking for complex care experience and phlebotomy from carer and blah, like they want nurses on the cheap. Most are teases for real....buh we movve. Thanks!

@AlisonUK... To be honest your services are highly needed over here... Just that the competition is very high now since folks on Tier 4 student visa are now switching into the Skilled Visa (Tier 2 under Health and Care) and since they are physically present in the UK they save the company the cost of relocation for someone abroad and they are most likely more experienced in this business of care since most student at a point or the other as either worked directly with a care company or agency therefore afording them the UK work experience which is a big deal here.

None the less, the window is still open. widely opened for those who has prepared themselves with the right tools (CV). To have the right resume. Please use your google and search for 3-5 different carer resumes for those applying for Health and Care roles and Senior Carer resume for those which strong previous health care experience. Combine all 5 into a single detailed document (2 pages max. rephrase and personalise the content in such a way that it addresses/ describes what u have to offer. link your experience to it- not the ADMIN, LAWYER, ENGINEER ONE OOOO take those off not needed) add your normal qualification maximum of BSC if it has nothing to do with health and social care. but if u are on the health line before use all your cards Up to Msc. it only should u are educated enough to understand the care plan quickly, the training as well as present a great reporting/ recording in writing. (WRITING IS IMPORTANT IN HEALTH CARE)

Tips for those with no previous experience:
1. Do a lot of free training and have detailed knowledge of the content: understand in details what Dementia, Learning Disabilities and Altruism/ altruistic behavior mean and how it affects people with this illness-- (PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE) no one will ask u to define it. design your resume in such a way that should that u know how to live, work, and manage people with all mental health sicknesses also show that u have a caring nature. Ultimate card- link the caring nature to your real-life circumstances--- like I grew up taking care of my elderly parent blah blah blah... i didn't say u should lie but those that did so should talk about it and how they help their elderly once.. it depicts patience and that you are most likely a naturally caring person.

For those with interview fixed don't miss the opportunity it's a lifetime one.. so make sure u HAVE solution to real-life scenario health care interviews are very easy.... no one is going to ask u what is this or that..... rather most interview questions are HOW CAN YOU ... OR HOW DID YOU....

Hi @Ceecyrils- this is a clear sign that you have started the search....

If a care company indicates that you must be eligible to work in the UK to apply--- This means only one thing, they cant sponsor your visa. The reasons can be any of the following: they are yet to obtain their Sponsorship License to do so, not ready to obtain it, or they have the license but are not ready to sponsor anyone locally or from abroad --- Therefore, you must have a Valid Work Permit in order to work with the company (E.G Ilr- indefinite right to remain known as PR in Canada, A work visa, Student visa if the role is part time or a citizen) which you definitely do not have at the moment.

SO PLEASE AVOID THOSE ADVERTS SO AS NOT TO WASTE YOUR TIME------ It is one thing to submit many applications to several companies, another to submit RELATIVELY FEWER to the right ones and get the desired result.
What happens if you submit your application for jobs that requires that you have the legal right to work in the UK despite not having the Legal documents (BRP)?
if u do, THE RECRUITER will either not respond or assume you read the eligibility requirement for the role and proceed with the process only to get to the final stage and tell u they don't sponsor people's visas. you will then be angry and disappointed but not knowing u didn't apply rightly.

To apply rightly, be strategic when using various job application sites-
If you choose to use INDEED app for instance--- change location to UK--- JOB TITLE- USE CATCH KEY PHRASES E.G Tier 2 sponsorship Care Assistant
for Location use- the United Kingdom +200km
applying. (you can apply for care jobs that didn't indicate that you need to have the 'right to work in the UK' as some of those care companies have the license but won't indicate they do in the job advert... but those that spelled it out as a requirement that u need to have the right to work PLEASE DO NOT APPLY TO THEM ITS just a waste of time....

To answer your question pertaining to QUALIFICATION request during the application stage/interview----- This is where you indicate/list your various relevant care certificates---- E.G FIRE HAZARD AWARENESS, HEALTH AND SAFETY, SAFEGUARDING LEVEL 2 &LEVEL 3, MANUAL HANDLING, END OF LIFE BLAH BLAH. venue: (online) , expiry date: PLEASE check your certificate if it's not there: use 12 months period from the month you applying..... Not waec, jamb abi post jamb wink wink wink wink . Other Relevant Qualifications are your BSc and MSc if it relates to health care.

I do hope I have been helpful I will be coming here for the next 5 days to answer questions I just hope I will be able to impact someone's life within the 5days.....

Hint: those that play around with the indeed app-- in some job ads you find their numbers-- before u apply I will advise you to call the number and tell them you enquiring if the job is still available. Once that's has been confirmed, ask but don't sound desperate if they have Sponsorship License--- 'AS I MAY AT SOME POINT NEED YOUR ORGANISATION TO ISSUE ME A CERTIFICATE OF SPONSORSHIP' confidence is everything.... right there you will be told if the company has the license or not and if they do. they will ask you if you have applied already respond affirmatively: YES..... Also, ask for an email you can send your CV/RESUME to... some will ask you for your name and email address so they can check for you from the pool of people that had applied... that simple act has singled you out. Also if you have friends and family here.. stay in touch with them for weeks then ask them about the visa you will be surprised they know who can issue you the COS without stress or know where to recommend you... Candidate Recommendation is gold here too.

But most people make this mistake as they tend to ask their friends and family to send them money always hence creating a distance between them and the friend or relative abroad.. so build the relationship now. When they are comfortable around u, ask for this help they will help out... some will call these companies for you, you be surprised that they will pick up their calls faster than yours and provide valuable information to them which you will eventually find useful...

For those applying for health and care visa from Nigeria.

The reason there are delays/queues in processing your application/COS, And the reason employers prefer candidates already on the UK is because the UKVI has different requirements for people already in UK and for people that are applying to come in.

The COS. Is two types

Undefined COS

for people already in UK, UKVI gives certain number of COS allocation to employers. Employer can assign cos to employee as long as they haven't finished there current allocation. The allocation can be increased/reduced by the UKVI.

Defined COS for people applying to come into UK (ie application form outside UK). The UKVI doesn't give allocation for this. The employer has to apply for a COS directly from UKVI.

For Defined COS, will the visa applicant be required to show Proof of Funds or it has been factored into the fees paid by the employer?

Defined/undefined don't have anything to do with proof of funds.

For proof of funds it depends if your employer ticks the box that says they will provide maintenance for you for the first month. It doesn't cost them

Uzland:

Thanks for your observation. Please read the post carefully for a better understanding. There are two different classifications of Shortage Occupations:
1. Shortage Occupations in non-healthcare and non-education - £464 for a 3-year visa, or £928 for a 5-year visa.

2. Shortage Occupations in healthcare and education (i.e. HCW visa route) - £232 for a 3-year visa, or £464 for a 5-year visa.
Notice that this second classification has more reduced visa fees and is even exempt from IHS fees, perhaps because it is 'healthcare', which is a sector that developed, saner climes accord more special preference to.

For other having difficulties pertaining getting a job with sponsorship I don’t know who needs to see this.. but I can assure you that there are hundreds of care homes here in the Uk that are short of staffs and needs your services so keep applying. But most importantly give your CV a professional feel. To do this you don’t need to be a professional cv writer just the right points so that whoever picks up your cv will have a feel that you know what u doing and u might not necessarily do. But not to worry if u don’t, the system is built to train and retrain new and existing staffs. So no matter how many years of experience you have u not different as u will still be trained just that u might catch the eyes of an HR personnel faster just as someone who knows how to present his or her self through their individual resume

For those who has an upcoming interview and want to ace it. I have loads of advise for u just quote my post and let me know your date. You will thank me later.

Cheers Fam.[/quote]

But most people make this mistake as they tend to ask their friends and family to send them money always hence creating a distance between them and the friend or relative abroad.. so build the relationship now. When they are comfortable around u, ask for this help they will help out... some will call these companies for you, you be surprised that they will pick up their calls faster than yours and provide valuable information to them which you will eventually find useful...
