InTheCloudySky:Not necessarily. There's something called the religious spirit; maintaining a form of Godliness but denying the ability that comes with practicing the christian faith. These are people who believe in God and have faith in Him but are not really interested in yielding to his demands for living which comes with sacrifice, upon which an empowerment of the holy spirit comes upon thier lives to live the christlife. Bkos by flesh shall man prevail. That empowerment comes via consecration and this by maintaining a posture of God centeredness, where a believer puts God's interested before Thiers. |

Never ever! that s one major reason I don't do religion believe me, neither church nor mosque can make you DO RIGHT.. it's a bloody fallacy!I discovered years ago that churchy folks don't necessarily possess good characters neither really Good fearing whatever.same for most Muslim as well.they are only adept at appearing pious and prentending.you will be shocked a huge numbers of so called adhetent are nothing but Good charlatans, double standards, hypocrite, two faced head like that Roman god, I think Janus ..if you believe in doing right, and possessing good character, you will do so CONSISTENTLY without anyone looking or waiting for validation from hypocrite around you.having good character is something you have to form from deep within you in line your core beliefs, worid view and outlook in connection with things and people around you.yes, your personal belief in doing good, you will without any impulse,if you believe in being bad, even if you live together with Pope in the same house you'll still be bad.. remember ,Judas Iscariot, does him being constantly around Jesus, eating and dining with him affect his character?so does religion house.many so called Christian leave their various home to church with malice, grudges, hatred, envy, jealouy, and all sort of evil thoughts against their NEXT DOOR neighbor every Sunday, you see them gaily dressed, radiating false confidence, fake smile, laughter and cheer all through service but immedately they are outside the evil rat race mentality and unwholesome ugly character resurface.they could pass you by without answering your greeting ,their normal hard and unyelding visage, the belicose bad Belle attitudes firmly back.Religion is one the greatest fraud ever invented to control men you can be a far better person by avoiding anything having to do with church or mosque.you will only be sucked into the hypocritical lifestyle and game of deceit they engaged in.sela |

xseed:big lie you don't know what they called Nigerians.even the so called born again are still mostly hypocrite, and are still very capable of evil thoughts and machinations . Nigerians are among the most religious people the world over and yet the most WICKED in thought and in action you can cultivate good character by yourself, depending a lot on your innermost belief, thoughts process , world view, right orientation and right values.you don't need church or Bible to do RIGHT or possess good character.its a question of will power and personal conviction, just that it demands hard work and being consistent at it.religion is a scam altogether, don't be Hoodwinked by all those display of piousness and holier than thou facade by those hypocrite adherents.most Nigerians are born innately and inherently wicked.thats a fact |

FERNANDEZISBACK:Stop writing nonsense on Nairaland just to make a silly point. God doesn't interfere in anyone's life. He gave us freewill and can only get involved in our affairs when we ask Him to or give Him a reason to. |

Religion doesn't change anyone's character ( church or mosque). If you are bad you're bad, if you're good, you're good. |
| Re: Can A Church Change One's Character? by nesgeeek(m): 12:29pm On Mar 27, 2022 |
church can only change the character of a person within or inside the church only. Alot of people only pretend inside the church to be what they are not, but tends to behave differently outside the church. it's only God that changes character not church. |

Any serious religious center can change their members character. But most worship places are fake. |
| Re: Can A Church Change One's Character? by Desusi: 12:34pm On Mar 27, 2022 |
No,a church can never change any man.its Christ that change life. The moment you confess your sins and forsaken them, Christ makes the change. The church literary is the body of Christ not necessarily a place of worship. Although, to a lay man,a church is a name of denomination you belonged eg deeper life, redeemed, etc.To Christ, its the fellowship of disciples of Christ followers. No wonder,Christ says, l will build my church, and the gate of hell would not prevail against it. |

I doubt a church by itself can change one's character, its always a choice, many in the Church still steal or do what they want to do that is negative, but the church can show a better way, if they allow the spirit to work in them. ![]() Changing character is always a choice, and its something that can start from seeing the better way, believing you can, and having the faith in oneself, i also believe having the spirit of righteousness, which is the important foundational reference. |

Breadandpeppers:Church Does. But depends on yourself. If you determine to change with what your church is teaching you, you will. Some Church doesn't practice what they are preaching in a situation where your Pastor are been saying do as I saying but don't as i do. Tell me what good character are you expecting in that such church? and someone need to seek for holy spirit first. And make your Bible your friend. |
