The worst part is that, that's even first leg. You're holding onto a first leg error of early last year when all Portugal needed to qualify for the world cup was just a draw. The system is what matters. Stop being fixated on stats. If De Bruyne loses possession, a good midfielder is always there to recycle effectively.


My problem is that Bruno is well aware that our system is rubbish, but he keeps on with his unnecessary adventures, knowing very well that we don't have good midfielders to recycle possession.

Nobody is downplaying Bruno's importance ofcourse. But if you dey watch our games, you'd know that most times, Bruno puts our defence under unnecessary pressure when he decides to be adventurous.


Is it even news that we look so easy for our opponents to play through? Once they get the ball and on transition, our midfield becomes almost non-existent.


Bruno should acknowledge that our midfielders aren't world beaters, and as a result, adjust his game to suit the resources we have available.

When acquisitions are made and we have solid midfielders, he can play the ball to the moon for all I care as long as we have a reliable protective cover in place.

People forget easily that Portugal was not an European football powerhouse in the class of Germany, Italy , France , and even under acheivers like Netherlands and England.

They are way below these countries in terms of their on field acheivement. Things began to change for them since the emergence of CR7 and his other talented teammates in the same class, like Quaresma, Moutinho, etc. and they've continue to build on that since then and they haven't looked back since then.

With the array of good players and talents they are now producing, they will only continue to grow and get better even after CR7 retires from the team and it's just a matter of time before they win a world cup and more European trophies.
