Sure bro.

As for tuition waiver, it is good. But stipend is also necessary. From my estimate, graduate student needs minimum of 15k dollars to live in USA for 1 year. It is still lots of money bro.
you can take up on-campus employment for that. The tution and health insurance is the main koko

Hello house, please I need your input on my DS-160.
I am currently filling out the employment part of my application. I currently work for a pharmaceutical company, but on the side, I also work voluntarily as a research assistant for my MSc supervisor and other lecturers in the department. I have been doing this on and off since 2019. Through this, I’ve been able to get my name on many publications and also attend conferences where I presented the results of our research. Now, I want to add this to my employment but because it is unpaid employment, I am finding it difficult to know the section to put this

You ought to include your research position with all activities done. It doesn't matter whether you volunteered or fully employed, you can always add all the positions you've been engaged in or where you're currently working on your DS 160. Especially those roles that support your pursuits for graduate education.

I also volunteered for a Prof. during my time, so there's no iota of harm In doing so.

Your sole purpose on the day of your interview is to convince your VO why you need a visa. Use all you've got positively.

There are a quite a handful of US colleges that offer good scholarships for international students.
Unfortunately, a lot of them are taken around December/January and so it'll be hard to see now.

You can mail me and we can talk.

Check out Wayne State University. They have an info session coming up and if you attend the info session and submit your application within 72 hours after the event the application fee of $50 will be waived.

Hello house, I got a conditional offer for a PhD program, I'm a bit sceptical because it's a conditional offer and can't get any assistantship until after the first semester. Do you think I should look out for other schools?

Hi, mojolajesu,

I'm surprised you are asking this question when you never came back to give us feedback as regards your visa interview in Abuja.

Why do we like taking and not giving? Even if it was negative, people could learn.

I was particularly interested in your case cos of the mpower loan application.

I understand people have different ways of reacting to disappointment (I assume this from your question) but then, let's learn to give too!

I’ve not gotten a response about my Emmergency request yet. I’m just hoping it comes soon.

I've got mine approved slated for next week. Tentative travel date is/was mid-March. Since there were no dropbox dates, I had to go emergency. hope yours comes soon

Hi,

So I personally feel maybe reapply without your daughter as F2.
You clearly have a strong support system here in Nigeria, your mum, the family owned school and your husband. And collectively your daughter has more stability and support than if she were with you juggling school, daycare and living alone.
Maybe do your F1 application then 6 months down the line, They can apply for your daughter’s F2.

Agree. We tell people every time, if you're married or/and with kids, always go alone the first time. Get your F1 out of the way first, before pushing for your dependents one after the other. Put your best foot forward always, and be strategic. Don't go with your family all at once, and expect the VO to trust you for a non-immigrant visa. Don't give the VO any opportunity to deny your visa.

What location is that LAGOS or Abuja

I chose Lagos but people are telling me it's not a great choice that I should change to ABUJA because it's better.

However, you can still apply with your daughter (she still young and need you around) if you can secure funding.

Wow! This is spot on. I sincerely apologize to this community.

I know I have learnt so much and in my little way I have given too. However, my second disappointment really hit me so bad that I am just recovering from it.

Anyways, here is the transcript of my second interview at Abuja

NB: first denial was on Dec 1, 2021
MPOWER Loan funding worth 50k
COA: 45k
Scholarship:3k

Second time, I reduced the Loan to 29k then family funds 16k (reflected on i20)
Had GA also but couldn’t cover for tuition.

VO asked the regular questions of Why are you going to the school, who told you about the school, are you married or engaged, who is sponsoring and all.

After those questions, he paused for a second looked into his system, looked at me again and asked if I have been denied before. I answered yes.

He further asked what has changed. I told him about my finances. The last time I had only the loan funding but this time, my family support came in for my living expenses and the loan for my tuition.

The VO nicely gave me a blue letter.

Well, I didn’t stop there, I pleaded that he tell me what I am not doing right with my application. He was so nice to say “I will advice you work on your Home ties. They are not strong enough.”

I went back to my hotel room battered and shattered.

My advise and what I am working on is to get a full funding before trying again.

I am available to answer questions and clarification about the whole thing.

Thank you.
