Combination of hard drugs in neighborhoid chemist shop making you go crazy.

Pharmacy is one on big course with nothing to show after graduation, do urself justice, go and do statistics of pharmacist graduates and ask them how many get good job after graduation?

Do gragra in sch as if it's by big name course.

Wen your brain is settled, you should also ask urself, how many pharmacy companies thriving in Nigeria, how many graduate of pharmacy can start his own company?
I'm a Pharmacist that is working as a pharmacist and I can confidently tell you that it is very lucrative and the best thing that has ever happened to me, I don't need to tell you how rich I am but I'm doing well.
It is a big course and a big profession, you can't belittle it by the rubbish you wrote above.
Have you asked yourself why the non pharmacist in this country do not want to remove their hands from drug business.
Obviously you don't know anything.

This is not true. I personally know a multi-millionaire who studied Fine Arts at a Nigerian University. He has worked with many multinationals. All I will say is be very good at any course you study.
You can make it in any course but some courses have higher success rates than the others. That’s the argument.

My advice to everyone:

Even if na Yoruba Education dem give you, try to graduate with a 2:1. Why? Big 4 accounting firms and multinational companies would employ you with any degree in as much as its a 2:1.
Also, with a good grade, you have the opportunity of getting foreign scholarships and your own don better if na STEM. Your own don better pass everybody own if you were able to publish your final year project.

I am talking as a university lecturer who schooled outside Nigeria. The moment I see talent that is wasting, I would grab it like hawk wey dey thief chicken and mentor the person. I have seen a first class finance grad stay jobless for 6 years. Write ICAN, e nor gree. Open LinkedIn, mba no. Oya na wetin you wan do with your life? “I want to be a lecturer”. This lecturer work wey me sef wan try to escape? Your village people no try.

Again, I am seeing many of my ex students approaching me to write papers and put their names on it as co author so they can use it to gain scholarships. Same students that were extremely disrespectful and refused to be serious with their project when they were students. Me, I should use my money to do research and I will now spend 150k to publish and I should add your name? Can you do analysis? No. Do you have a laptop? No. Will you pay for the secondary data? No. You try.

In a nutshell, I am begging you all in the name of God to be serious with your project.

Dear Sir,

May God bless you for this. Even if Him nor want bless you before, make Him bless you twice and without delay.

It's only a fool that would ignore this advice of yours.

Now, I tell the young people in my dept that they should "chingum" a lecturer and beg him to allow them participate in his/her research, they ignore me. I would have kept quiet but I now see my mistakes and I don't want them to repeat it.

NOTE

Please if you're an undergraduate in any University in Nigeria, don't joke with that our oga I quoted just said. Don't joke with your lecturers thinking that you would need them after school, Las Las you would always come back.

Please be humble, be kind and respect them.

A lot of people want people to believe in them rather than believing in themselves.

There are a lot of great courses out there and there is no guarantee that you'd work with your course when you graduate in Nigeria. I know this, a lot of people should know this.

This is why I believe everyone should broaden their horizon, look past the shores of Nigeria and how you can get fulfilled in that choice of study, honestly I know it's easier said than done. It's hard work, a lot of hard work and determination.

Some people don't wanna get out of their comfort zone and strive, but come on this is Naija, there are no companies waiting for you to intern at, no cutting edge technology industries that can accept you for that course you read.

What we have here is Medicine and it's related courses, Accountancy as long as you do professional courses, and Programming, even with programming you won't be working in Nigeria only, you can work with international clients, if you know your passion doesn't fall in these listed subject area and you wanna work with whatever you studied, then you've got to be prepared to search for opportunities else where other than naija, while in Naija you can pick up online courses to make money for yourself, there's programming, there's ui/ux, there's copywriting.
You've got to hustle to get what you want, because Nigeria won't give you anything.

I know I can't find a job in this country to the extent of me being fulfilled in what I'm studying, but I'm definitely putting somethings in place to go somewhere where I'm valued and my skills would be essential, Nigeria isn't it, so I'm going to chase after it until I get it. It's still not going to be on a platter of gold when I get there, but it's different because, the system isn't broken like Nigeria's own, things work, and if you do them the right way, everything would pan out for your good.

It's different strokes for different folks, not everyone has the strength to go for what they want so they settle for less, can't be me, I know what I want, and I'd get it.

If you graduate from a university and you come out looking for someone to employ you, then you are one of the problems of this country. With the knowledge and enlightenment you've gained from school, you should be the one employing and empowering people.
There are several businesses one can start building now which requires little capital but with a potential for massive returns in the long run.

Back to our topic I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur. A university or higher institution in Nigeria doesn't teach one how to b self employed. Entrepreneurship is a knowledge u attain outside the walls of school; thats why most graduates are left stranded after school.
Most of our wealthy business mogul brothers from the east never went to shool.
Some of the world wealthiest men never went to skul; thus, its a knowledge u learn nd attain outside school, tho I'm still schooling but my hopes are not on my Bachelor's Degree.

If you aren't going to school to study any of the courses listed below, pls don't bother going at all:

•Medicine
•Nursing
•Pharmacy
•Computer Science
•Radiography
•Some engineering courses
O
If it's not any of the above, abeg sit down for house, use that money you would have used to pay school fees and get a Laptop... start learning to code,in 8 months time, you'll be glad you did so.

What I came to realize about life is this; our parents know what they've seen when they urge and insist we study "professional" courses in school, but we young folks disregard their point of view as "ancient"... I for example was studying Botany in the university, reasoned what I'll do with this thing in the long run... omorr I saw I was just wasting my time oh,took jamb in my third year, applied for pharmacy in a federal university, got the admission... I'm really glad I made that decision.

Living in Nigeria is hard... don't make it harder for yourselves by studying Nonsense

Follow your heart Bro..... Don't mind what guys are typing here. A lot of people don't know a lot about their course of study. The most important thing is to have passion for your course of study and make excellent grade, with this you can leave Nigeria if things don't go your way.

Lots of people don't have passion for their courses of study, only interested in making money out of it. Hence they have no self worth and job satisfaction.

Never regret the course you studied in school. The course you wished you studied some people still regretted studying it. Never you regret what you studied because it did'nt bring in as much money or lively hood as you thought. In my opinion, I would say it is the country in which we find ourselves and it is not your fault you were born in Nigeria, you did not choose the country or parent by which you would be born. So never you regret your course of study because it did not bring you much as you envisage. People study social study, dancing, crying, linguistics, biology, e.t.c in civilised country yet they live very well with thesame course you studied in Nigeria. Nigeria does not support research and Development ( R&D ), that is why their few factories and industries are collapsing, that is why their citizens are poor, that is why their graduates never find good place to put their study to good use, that is why many of their graduates regrets the course they study in school, that is why their graduates regrets going to school (hence they say "school is scam"), and so on and so forth. If what you study has not bring much as you thought, go for skill courses, or I.T. skill. Never say school is scam because your country and many of your people only support and sing praise of corrupt people. If you did not go to school you would understand better. Academic education mostly develop your capacity to think, research, speak, articulate and well polished so that even if you go to some other field you would moderately do well. But if you went to school and it was not you who really read and pass your exams, or did your assignments, research, projects, then you would say school is scam. That what you studied has not brought in as much as you want does not mean your education was worthless. If you really did study without "expo.", examination malpractice of any kind, then you should know the other things education did for you apart from being gainfully employed.

**** this is my humble opinion****

yes I regret everything after I spent my 16th birthday, when I got into school and the course I read, I lost myself, lost my purpose for living, became nearly hopeless, became even worse than when I got into uni, there's this saying that when u go to skul, u let d school pass thru u, but the school, the environment, the poverty u see when u go to EBSU as a college std it changes u, I regret all that, even uptill now the school has not given me my statement of result, so literally I spent 9yrs for a 4yr course I regret all of it..
my only advise to young people who are the sheer hold of making a choice in their career path is to look for course you can do perfectly well
go for Law,Medicine, Nursing, Psychology and professional courses that's acceptable both here and outside the country

pls not all courses that are said to be professional are actually professional in nigeria, the school system in nigeria has been engineered as an internally revenue generative medium for the government and the state, that's y they offer courses that they themselves can never do and send their children to do, this courses are made and created to steal your money and fund the government which will then be stolen to fund this rich kids to abroad to study courses that are real, all this courses are makeshift, ramshackled, left over courses that kill the dreams of the young people and make them hopeless and useless to the society, if u re young u had better study English, computer, learn how to drive, talk, reason and u re good to go

It's been almost two decade since my graduation as an engineer. l have acquired a master's degree and certification. l have worked as an engineer, operations manager & sales manager.

l have not acheived the financial buoyancy l desired. l still struggle to pay my bills. l beleive l would have fared better as a lawyer or an accountant.
What's your opinion on this?
Maybe you've not seen lawyers and accountants doing 30k job..

Life takes a process..Just be prepared, when opportunity for a juicy position comes, you grab it with your two hands.

It takes years of determination, dedication and passion plus smartness to reach a curtain height.

Dangote said what he achieved in 30years, youths of today want to own it in 5days..

Regarding your question, I av grown to notice that those course people underrated in the university, are actually the ones hitting some dope cash..
While most of the posh courses have been bastardized..In fact it is good for bragging rights of parents..

My son is doctor.
My daughter is a lawyer.
My last born is an engineer... cheesy All na bragging...Struggling to foot bills.. undecided

My dear, you may be anything in the world but don't mislead young people. There's something called cumulative advantage. Those things count and can be helpful moving on in life. Even if you will eventually do other things in life, one should strive to gun for the best and where there are better opportunities.

My main point is that wherever one find themselves, they should strive to be excellent and destiny will work itself out.
No one course of study guarantees "success". So it is not deceit or conceit but an encouragement for the young ones to strive and do their best whatever they find themselves studying.
