Have you asked yourself what happened to public primary and secondary schools?
Why do you think parents no longer enroll their children in these schools again?
Why are parents sending their children to private schools for primary and secondary education even though teachers in public elementary schools don't go on strike?
I guess according to your postulation the teachers killed these schools too?
If ASUU did not fight the way they are fighting these useless governments, our public Universities will soon become dead like their primary and secondary school counterparts.
If you think ASUU is frustrating our students and killing our educational system just go to your University and check again all the buildings, lecture halls, research centres, facilities and vehicles with the inscription "TETFUND PROJECT...." That is one of the by product of ASUU strike.
If you don't know, this government once proposed a school fees of 500,000 for public University students.
ASUU outrightly reject the offer because many students will not be able to afford it and will eventually dropout of school.
I can go on and on but let me pause here.
ASUU would not have been going on strike frequently like this if they want to be selfish by fighting for their welfare alone. However, they have decide to make sure that Nigerian Universities do not die like their primary and secondary school counterparts.
ok, why not sort it out once and for all?
Why the repetitive strike every year?

So how will UTAS prevent public universities from dying? And how will IPPIS kill public universities?

what fake harzard allowance is applicable to you as a lecturer? Why can't you resign and join politics.
Not all University staff are lecturers... I see some of u don't know much of what's happening. Why should politics be the only high paying 'job' in Naija? It shows our priority as a country. We don't deserve good education the government doesn't see its importance.

Wait o, you mean these Lecturers always get paid as and when due even when strike is on for several months?

No wonder they sometimes extend the strike to 8 months. Some of them even get to Lecture in private Universities during that period. In the end, the students are the ones that would suffer.

The Government might not be doing well but this ASUU people are also very selfish.

I [b]support the "No work, No Pay" rule. At least, that would also make them take things more seriously and reach an agreement as quickly as possible

Federal government will definitely pay them in arrears hence forget about their buohaha

Yes in arrears but do you think they will find it easy not being paid on a monthly basis? Most of them have Loan repayments to make, thrift and several monthly bills to pay. You don't sound like someone who understands how these things work.

We might not know what ASUU is fighting for !
Till they succumb to pressure from both FG and parents and eventually harken to the short man saying education is cheap in Nigeria
They may start with this new tuition fees
FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES = #850,000
STATE UNIVERSITIES = #1,250,000
FEDERAL POLYTECHNICS = #550,000
STATE POLYTECHNICS = #650,000
Our eyes go clear that time

Secondary and Primary Schools wasn't damaged because of the government, that's a fat lie.

It's because of the teachers and their wickedness, they sign in and leave school to their shops in the market and other businesses and then they come back to sign out at closing time.

I am a product of Government College Ughelli, Delta State and I can tell you that at point when my set was in JSS3 we don't see up to two teachers in a day, not even the form teachers even the so called crs teachers don't come too and soonest the youth corpers joined them and we needed to prepare for exams, some corpers started offering tutorials for money and the teachers told us to attend and pay or we read on our own that they can't cover the scheme of work, we complained to the School Principals and still nothing was done but fortunately the Ministry of Education Office is behind the School fence, we went there and laid our complaints with various dramas from us, we don't know how they did it but when we resumed on Monday, Teachers started coming to class like there was honey in the classrooms and I am sure they still do till date.

Moreover Private Universities are too expensive and that's the reason many parents don't send their wards there, if not who get time for all these useless lecturers, I ready for una anyhow una come.

Wicked set of Witches and Wizards.

Drop the name of the Federal University.

I am a student of a Federal University too, I won't insult you because you are my elder and I was trained well.

Lecturers live above their means and you would even wonder if they receive same pay as Chevron workers, imagine people agitating for a better salary when they don't come to class and not even impact knowledge on student.

I can't DM you, I don't want to be insulted more than I have received here.
You don't want to be confronted with the truth? Ask around, not all Federal Universities sell handouts/textbooks. Don't make that statement next time if u really want to say the truth. Our students are currently writing their exams as we speak. We are not on strike as well. Don't be shocked. Yes, it's a Federal University in Nigeria.

Next time u want to analyse issues, your use of language is important. Even the school u are, some lecturers many not sell handouts, some may not sell textbooks, some may not award grades without justification but u chose to speak as if everything is the same. Is it all students that pay lecturers to pass? Are all students in your school cultists?

Why can't we fight for those that are doing the right thing? Why can't those demanding for their rights justly be given attention? Why?

Government keep promising without fulfilling the agreements. We are not even talking about UTAS and others. What about agreements of the past? Have they honoured them?

Integrity test is not like a normal exam where if one scores 70% then he has an A, I saw their statement and I was just laughing.

Integrity test of a system must be 100%, 99.99% cannot be accepted, there are not supposed to be any loopholes so that the system would function without complaints of missing salaries or others.

Tell me what use is 1 unit course which the lecturers don't force students to buy handouts and textbooks to all three units courses lecturers have their textbooks that they force you to buy, the ratio is 5:1, one lecturer even sent us Pdf as textbook after collecting money from so many students, we won't attack her now until the perfect time arrives, that's what I affirmed my coursemates and we would hit her badly.

If you follow FG and ASUU you go die aswear.

FG their problem everybody know am they no care for the masses at all.

As for ASUU, if you think they are fighting for the students you lie I swear you lie, ASUU keep going on strikes at the begin it is Unpaid salaries, next 2 weeks it's UTAS, next 2 weeks again it's 2009 agreement then when they see FG is not answering them they will say the strike is for Revitalization then they will call on Nigerians to combat the government.

In as much as what they are doing is good (which is good for them and not the students) the average lecturers suffer from it, some of our lecturers usually boost of being well paid and our handout money is nothing to them but they keep collecting our money imagine I paid 2k for a piece of paper they called report book 2A is better than the shit.

To be sincere the way FG is to Nigeria that's how 97% Lecturers is to Students, they feel they are gods among students.

I remember in 200L I usually take classes with Electrical, Mechanical, Polymer, Agricultural, Civil, Metallurgical, Petroleum engineering all in one hall no space I swear no space to walk out of the hall self could you believe that after all that Jam packing in exams they will make us sit down 1 to a sit I was like if this is possible why don't we learn like this.

Another thing and the most important thing most lecturers can't teach they just read from their handout and tell you to go for tutorial classes or ask you course mates.

So for me ASUU themselves need Revitalization.

Last strike was almost a year, they didn't pay them.

They just added the amount owed to their list of requests insisting if government don't pay, they won't resume.
The government had to start paying 2-3 months salary at once to cover up the unpaid once plus resolving other issues. That's the only way the strike was called off.

In summary, no work no pay only work on other unions. But you see those lewandoskis (ASUU); when they decide to go on strike (indefinite strike), they strike till the very end (NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER).

Thank God na warning strikes.

If so, then they just just go for 10 years strike at ones. Not this back and forth strike they keep doing

the whole system is a corrupt system. Just imagine a senator collecting 38 million in a month, no teacher or soldier will see this kind of money for his whole 35 years in service.
I wish the strike is for the whole country ,so that these politicians will not see us as fools.
Federal government will not take assu serious, but had it been it is the whole country that went on stike the government would have found solutions. All what I was trying to say is for ASSU to consider the innocent children that are at home. But I will solidly support a national strike that will shake the political class.

How much has FG paid Bandits and Boko Haram since 2015?

IPPS that they are insisting on has been tainted with corruption.

How much money have been allocated to the Politicians or what is the percentage of what ASUU is asking to education budget to what is being paid in the Educational Sector?

Yes, you are right but we cannot make laws based on those not doing the jobs at the expense of those doing the jobs rightly.

And have u asked yourself why that is rampant? Working condition in the country is terrible. With just a lecturing job and no extra legit business, most lecturers cannot even feed well and take care of their families under this condition. Not justifying their being corrupt but if we must remove corruption from the tertiary institutions, it cannot be effective if these things are not looked into.

The economy is pushing many to the wall and this breeds corruption. If you don't want to tempt your workers from being corrupt, do your part by paying them what they are due, pay their entitlements as at when due; pay their salaries in time; pay them their due allowances. How can you allow someone's allowances to accumulate for more than 5years and u don't expect some persons to give themselves reasons not to come to class as they are supposed to? Yes, even when all these things are in place, some persons will still be corrupt but... As it is right now, the government need to address these issues first before blaming the lecturers.

The EAA you hear, is not last year allowance o. Allowances being owed for years. Come on...
Yet, the government has mouth to talk! Ask Ngige if they are owing him any of his allowances. The ASUU strike remains a product of corruption and the government has more than 70 per cent of the blame.

To be honest, the structure of Nigeria's University system needs change.

Lecturers on strike and getting paid. Accumulate the salary being paid for no work and hiw much they are demanding, you'll notice no much balance. The students suffer. They pay house rents whether Uni is in session or not, they delay in the program can make them graduate late, and may not fit to some job positions that pilot age limits.
Again, ASUU and FG should reach a suitable agreement. If they want to strike, then let them refuse FG money until their demands are met.
