Good morning and happy new month nairalanders.

I will not be calling the name of any church, but why do some churches takes the deads to the church and pray for their sins to be forgiven before they are laid to rest?

Note, that most of this person are kept long in murtuary for months, and some even last up to years in the murtuary. But when it is time for their burial, they are first taken to the church for prayers. This prayer is mostly centered on asking God to forgive their sins and accep their souls into his kingdom (heaven).

My questions;

* Is taken dead bodies to the church good in the sight of God?

* Is the fate of the dead decided immidiately after death, or after they are burried?

* Can our sin be forgiven after death?
In an answer to your question, They way one live his or her life matters to God. You live to live again after death thru a resurrection or eternally die because while you are alive, you don't have regard for God or his high moral standards.
What is the state of a dead person. They bible significantly says, he knew nothing at all, and the wages of sin is death. That means when someone has died he or she is no longer accountable for his past sins.
Romans 6:7 stated "For the one who has died has been acquitted from his sin.

Why was the body of Jesus buried the Christain way in the Bible?

Body cleaned, preserved and women came to say prayers ?

It was as a sign of respect and not to forgive his sins or ask that his sins be forgiven.

My broda I'm a Catholic I have asked this to my priest severally.why carrying dust up and down and deceiving ourselves and say we praying for it.Everyman knows where he is going if truly heaven exists but it does
The church is the problem of the world today, not church but Religion,Remove Religion from the world and the world will be a better place.
.To me most important prayer for a dead body is the day of death, after that day,the body is dust just that we keep on praying for a preserved body.
The church makes serious money from the family of the bereaved,so without it No money,

I'll use an instance,my friend in Enugu the brother died and when they wanna bury him church no gree,so the did all service in Enugu, and on Sunday being Thanksgiving day,the church that denied him wants Thanksgiving held in village, but they declined and said it will be done in city where burial mass was done.
The problem is that the priests or presumed men of God in the village are very very dangerous thinks about them pockets,u all can see what Chimanda Adichie passed thru during her mum burial Religion is business, serious business.

There are several passages that indicates the praying for the dead.

1. Near the middle of his great reflection on the resurrection, the apostle Paul pauses to ask his readers: “What do people mean by being baptized on behalf of the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized on their behalf” (1 Cor. 15:29)?

2. Paul prayed for dead Onesiphorus in 2 Timothy 1:16-18 (RSV): “May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me; he was not ashamed of my chains, [17] but when he arrived in Rome he searched for me eagerly and found me – [18] may the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that Day – and you well know all the service he rendered at Ephesus.” (cf. 4:19)

3. In James 2:13, “For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.”

Mercy means leniency and compassion shown toward offenders by a person or agency charged with administering justice. Mercy means giving you what you do not deserve. Mercy means unmerited favour, an act of kindness or compassion.

4. That there are sins that are forgiven even in the next life, Jesus said to the Pharisees: Matthew 12:31-32
[31]And so I tell you, every human sin and blasphemy will be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
[32]And anyone who says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but no one who speaks against the Holy Spirit will be forgiven either in this world or in the next.

5. In I Cor.3:11-15 1 Corinthians 3:11-15
[11]For nobody can lay down any other foundation than the one which is there already, namely Jesus Christ.
[12]On this foundation, different people may build in gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay or straw
[13]but each person's handiwork will be shown for what it is. The Day which dawns in fire will make it clear and the fire itself will test the quality of each person's work.
[14]The one whose work stands up to it will be given his wages;
[15]the one whose work is burnt down will suffer the loss of it, though he himself will be saved; he will be saved as someone might expect to be saved from a fire. (Meaning that there's still salvation even when the person doesn't deserve it).

for context, study:

Also read through 1Corinthians15:12-29 .

It helps to strengthen the fate of members to worship God in truth and in spirit and at the end of the race in life and they shall receive eternal life

Praying for forgiveness after Death is a Complete and comprehensive waste of time and Strength.

Even if the Pope, Bishop , Reverned and Pastors combine together to bury or Pray for forgiveness of a dead person, it has nothing to do with the Eternal destination of the person.

Attendee: Pastor, can I request for prayer?

Pastor: Yes, sure. What is it?

Attendee: It's about my relative.

Pastor: What do you want us to pray for your relative?

Attendee: She died a week ago. So, I request that God will guide her.

Pastor: Oh? Hmmm... Let me put it this way, If you are taking an exam, when will you pray before you take the exam or after?

Attendee: Before...

Pastor: Yes, that's true. You see, if we pray after the exam, it is like asking God to change our answers and that cannot be done.

Likewise, when we die it is like the exam is done. We cannot change the outcome after it. In Hebrews 9:27 we are told that we are to die once and then we will face the judgment after that. That means we don't get a second chance after death.

I'm sorry, but that is the truth.

Attendee: Oh? Is that so....?

Pastor: Yes. I'm sorry about your relative, but I cannot pray for her anymore. Death has closed the door of opportunity for her. That's exactly why we preach the Gospel to those who are alive, to give them the chance to make a decision for Christ. That opportunity ends at death.

Attendee: Okay, pastor.
__________

Churches that teach there is still salvation after death are teaching what is contrary to Scripture and are deceiving their members.

People who believe they can be saved after death will get the greatest shock of their lives when they find out the Truth that there is no salvation after death.

Teach the Truth because that's the only thing that can set people free! (John 8:32)

After death, there is no more pardon.
Hebrews 9:27 says it is appointed for all humans to die once, thereafter comes judgement.
You have only one life to live during which you have the grace to surrender your life to the Great Judge, Jesus Christ. He will help you now but if you disobey the Gospel, you will surely face Him for judgement after your eyes are closed in death.

It's called christain wake-keep. Due to the fact that their home is far or they prefer the prayers to be said in the church.

It also marks the end of the prayer started in the church during baptism in which you won't say Amen to it then.

This is damn wrong. Believing this is believing that Christ's death is for fun as long as the church can agree to pray for an atheist who never identified with Christ in his lifetime. There is no biblical passage that justifies this act. Jesus didn't say there is forgiveness after death.

The issue here is that caused by Martin Luther. While many Churches still retain the unmistakable teaching of the Holy Catholic church, they really don't know why it is so. Traditions like praying for the dead , Prayers like "May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the Mercy of God rest in Peace" is actually a Catholic and early christian prayer based on the teachings of Purgatory. But one will say, where is purgatory or something related to praying for the Soul of the dead seen in the Bible ? Well that leads us to the real origin of the scripts of the Bible. While Other Christian denominations attack Catholics for making up some alledged additional books of the Bible, they can decide to find out the truth whether it was actually added before the Division by Luther or if Luther's disciples actually excised those unfavorable portion to suit their teachings. To understand this, One has to understand that there are two scripts of the Old testament. The Septuagint (Greek) text and the Masoteric (Hebrew) text.

The Septuagint text existed since , translated in series from the TORAH around 250 BC and then the TANAKH, 150 years later ie 100BC. That is to say the Septuagint text existed before Jesus was born and centuries before the Masoteric text, which only came into existence at about 1000 AD by Jewish Scholars ie to Say 967 years after Christ had returned to the Father. The early christians had been using the Septuagint text for centuries but Because the Jews considered Christianity a polluted form of Judaism, they wrote and adopted the Masoteric text after many years.

So early Christian teachings was based on the Septuagint text which contains the books of Maccabees which is the basis of purgatory for the Catholic church. After Luther separated from the Catholic Church, the disciples of Luther, not Luther himself in 1825, (For Luther has included this books in the first German translation of the Bible and these books are present in the first King James Version of 1611) , ie the Edinburgh Committee of the British Foreign Bible Society excised , some of those books or rather to say adopted the Masoteric text of the Old testament for reasons best known to them.

If anyone cares to know the truth, one can always allowing the spirit of God to guide him with unrefutable evidence of Truth. However God spirit dwells in a humble heart where there is no arrogance like someone that have told another to throw away the Bible that contains the Book of Maccabees.

[I really do appreciate your zeal in spreading the Gospel here but no one is judged immediately after they die, neither does one go to either heaven or hell When the Bible says after death judgement follows it means nothing else can be done after one dies: they'll remain in the grave until the day God has appointed to judge the world through Jesus. John 5:28-29. quote author=Righteousness2 post=112419770]Taking the dead to church and all that are mere religious Exercises

Praying for forgiveness after Death is a Complete and comprehensive waste of time and Strength.

Even if the Pope, Bishop , Reverned and Pastors combine together to bury or Pray for forgiveness of a dead person, it has nothing to do with the Eternal destination of the person.

Even if one is buried inside the Church, it means nothing.

Mercy Expires at Death. Immediately Death hits, it is Judgement! It is straight to Either of Heaven or Hell. The opportunity to repent is closed. There is no Repentance in the Grave.

What Matters for us all after Death is if we Believed & accepted JESUS CHRIST as our LORD and SAVIOR.
What matters is if we lived according to HIS Commandments given to us in HIS Word ( The HolyBible)
What matters is if our Names are in the book of life.
