A job seeker is meant to be on his or her
best behaviour when looking for a job,
especially during an interview. Even when
a job seeker finally gets the job, he or she
should still behave in a good way.

In a recent chats shared on Whatsapp, an
unidentified job seeker revealed how he/
she got a job that pays 250k per month
and how he lost the job almost
immediately.

According to the chat shared on Whatsapp, the job seeker was telling his friend on WhatsApp how an employer saw his resume and employed him as the company's designer. The employer also said that the company was going to pay
250k per month.

Immediately, the job seeker heard that his
salary was going to be 250,000 Naira, he
used a WhatsApp sticker of a male dwarf
dancing. He used the sticker to show how
excited he was, but the employer stopped
replying him and blocked him on
WhatsApp.

The job seeker lost a good paying job
because he could not control his
excitement.

There are formal letters and informal letters. There are things you can do in a formal letter that you can't do in an informal letter. Same thing with whatsapp chats, there are formal whatsapp chats and informal whatsapp chats, both chats also follow the rules of formal and informal letters. Some people think all whatsapp chats are the same and they are very wrong.

I've made the mistake of using BCOB in formal correspondences (email though) a couple of times but I noticed the recipient once responded with the same abbreviation.

We actually get along as partners but his superiors are always copied in the mails. Sometimes I get carried away because of the ability to respond to official mails on the go.

You only see the money, toxic work environment is bad to your health... If he has skills 250k is very small. I can't accept 300k job monthly, I've rejected that before. How could he blocked him because of mere meme, no body is above mistake. He should have simply correctd him instead

The employee went too far, agreed. He was suppose to be at his highest level of professionalism as he hasn't received offer letter yet.

However, the supposed employer too went too far. We take life too serious. What is the emoji for on a WhatsApp chat if it is not needed. I interviewed with an organisation sometimes back and I was surprised the way emojis were flying everywhere even in an email communication. There are standard formal communication in mails and there are semi-formal communication even in a formal setting. If it is against the organisation policy, you will have to employ him first and onboard him.

That was how someone told me to change my email address otherwise I won't get a job. Not only have I gotten jobs, I have also rejected jobs using the same email address. There are some people more concerned about your technical output than inanities like email address or emojis in a chat.

Good riddance.

We should tend to do things formally, the way you treat your friend, should definitely different from your boss.

Some people get carried away with their boss familiarity and start treating him/her like a friend. The day you go receive sack, then you will know thousand of people are out there, who can deliver better than what you rendered!
