Every month end I keep #5000 for either beer or betting.. since I quit drinking, I use that for betting or movies ..once exhausted that’s the end of betting for the month. Moreover placing bet or any business requires taking calculated risk with funds u are comfortable to loose without panic.. since you have quit gambling don’t bother starting forex because it’s still de same if not worse. Try and learn programming,3D modeling or graphics or any skill that requires rendering services.

The power in the addiction to gambling lies in the FALSE HOPE it offers.

It then becomes a bigger problem when the power combines with the habit of gambling.

I have been gambling since around 2014 and never for once have I ever decided to quit despite destroying my life, career, relationships, and self esteem. It was as if I was cursed with it. I was so addicted to gambling that I'd rather gamble with my money than to buy cloths on my body. I've read so many stories here on nairaland from people who suffered similar faith, but I'd be looking out for comments from people who would say gambling isn't that bad just to encourage myself. Now I'm at level zero. I have no job, no money, no relationship, but friends who are also addicts. I'm cutting them off.

I believe it's not too late for me to make it in life, so I'm believing in God for miracles. Some people might think i can still relapse when i make some money, but so help me God I won't. I have eradicated anything that'd remind me of gambling, deactivated my betting account and focusing on how to make my life better. Betting can never get you rich. It is what I've come to realize anyways.

I don't want to ever return to gambling even when I make enough money. Right now I'm just looking for money to eat and survive.

I hope those going through same would take that bold step and come out of that shell of bondage. It is well.

I'll update my progress once in a while on this thread.
Congratulations on taking the decision to quit... It is not easy but you can do it.

Good for you. Hope you don't run back to that shit wen you hit the bag or have little cheese. Between gambling and masturbation i wouldn't know which one wrecks a man's life faster. grin
gamble wrecks man’s life faster but masturbation is the hardest addiction to quit in this world .. it doesn’t involve money , you only need imagination.,

if that your luck shine for you and win 10,000.000 naira i believe you would have come to nairaland to give praises and jubilation.now that i has not happened right now you conclude that gambling is bad. so my friend the same gambling change people life okay.is not how long you play that makes you win. so people start to day and win that very day.
you're right but, it's difficult to find a successful Bettor, maybe less than 6% of bettors are successful through gambling. Here on nairaland as an example.

NOTE: that same Luck you're hoping, only makes you more addicted.

Well, it's not easy taking a hard decision. But my friend, you didn't bet what you can afford to lose.
Personally, I place long bets with between 200 and 500 Naira only on weekends.

Quitting totally is good though but May not stop your addiction.

You're definitely a newbie if you think this team don't easily lose matches
That's where your understanding ends. Ask yourself or check it out yourself... How many times have those teams I make mentioned of have lose matches in their respective leagues? Example Porto only lost once which came after they've won their league last 2 weekends. Ajax nko?

I was an addicted gambler too. I started with bet9ja dog race in 2011 and later graduated to virtual football… I went from hero to zero within a space of 6 years. I finally decided to stop in 2017 and with 5 months I was able to save up money to travel out of Nigeria in other to recover my sanity. Now here is what I did; I stopped passing through the shop where I’ll see people gambling, i took eating fruits & traveling as my new hobbies so whatever money I see I just buy fruits, eat and sleep. Within 2 months I became fresher and my ex gambling mates started telling me I look happier so I knew I was doing something worthwhile. I used the other 3 months to save up money from my business then I moved out of the country. Now I dey Europe dey enjoy my life.

the problem with you people is that you are not honest with your own self... if you had won yesterday, you would have said its GOD's work. now you quit and you still talk about believing in "god's" miracles bla bla bla....everything you do, whether good or bad you will now talk about your "god".... let me be the bearer of bad news: there is NO god, and if there was ever one, it wouldnt let you waste your hard earned money on BS like gambling.

its obvious that the only reason you supposedly stopped gambling is because you aint got money for it, as you cant even feed yourself, but as soon as you will have a little money, you will go right back to gambling.

but hey, if you really believe in the miracles of your "god", then just go to your nearest church/pastor and ask for help with food/money/job and see how that works for you....lol!

Okay bro. Be safe and avoid those ur old friends. Remember, u don't need everyone to succeed in life. U just need one or two person who is focused in life and who tells u the raw truth all the time. Secondly learn a skill set and be ur own boss. Lastly set a target for urself and stay focused on the price. See u at the top...

you have a lot to lose when you are hoping for some invisible man in the sky to solve your own life... the answer is within you, not with any holy being...and the minute you understand that, the minute you will live a better life. your problem today is NOT gambling, your problem is that you are a grown jobless man that cant feed yourself... and this has nothing to do with gambling!

It's been dealing with me since 2013; I'm still trying my best to get it off me but I always relapse and by so doing, sink deeper into it..

I feel your pain bro. Just be determined. There's a deactivate option on all bet sites. Try use it to deactivate your account

I'm not wrapped under my duvet waiting for a miracle to happen. I believe the first step in quitting my addiction is to publicly admit I have an issue. Betting has taken over 5m from me in the last year, i was depressed which affected my performance at work and eventually cost me the job. Now I'm just trying to start all over again hoping that I'm favoured. Yea i know I'm broke, but i shouldn't hang myself with a rope cus of that.

again, stop running from your problems, GAMBLING ISNT YOUR PROBLEM. you are your own problems and gambling is just the drop that uncovered the irresponsible life you have been living. look at yourself in the mirror and understand that the problem is right in front of you.
