I want to track my application.

Please if you can guide me.

Hello everyone its been a while here....pls gurus in the house...I was in the UK December 2020 and I left the UK may 2021 which is after 5 months...today makes it a year that I left the UK I want to go again in December....I think I have respected them by not over staying so I should have a big chance of getting the visa again right? My other question is should I apply for six months again or 2 yrs...your response will be appreciated pls...I want to start the process soon....

I don’t know if this of any use to you but I have stayed 169days of the 180 days and nothing happened because I didn’t overstay my visa, my advice to you is to put a note in the additional info part of the application and explain that due to everything Covid caused, you decided to spend more quality time with your family(your uncle and his family) and that’s the reason you stayed for 5months. Getting the visa after you stay that long isn’t the issue, the main place you might be questioned thoroughly is at the point of entry into the UK, so be prepaid to give a convincing explanation, all in all, you didn’t overstay the 180days.

Hi All.
I applied in Feb and went with the “keep my passport” option.
I only just got an email to submit my passport last week and submitted on Monday.
Does anyone have an idea of how long they would hold on to the passport before returning it please? I need my passport for an urgent trip.
Anybody in the same situation or knows about this please?

Hello everyone.

For anyone interested, I just want to share my experience providing biometrics at TLS Ikeja today. Application is for visiting visa.
My appointment was for 9.30am. I got there 9.15 as advised in the appointment email. Waited outside until we were screened and allowed in at 9.30. Once inside, we sat down and waited until they were ready to attend to us. Please note that the process can take a while. Basically once inside there are three 'checkpoints'. First, they go over your documents to make sure everything is in order. They also try to upsell you extra services like courier delivery, etc. Next checkpoint is upstairs where they scan your passport and prepare you for biometrics. Last checkpoint is biometrics; nothing much to it. You look into a camera and say your name and date of birth then they take your fingerprints. After that you are free to go. These checkpoint activities don't take long, cumulatively maybe about 10/15 minutes in my case. Where you will spend time is in the waiting. I did not leave TLS until 12.50pm. That's over three hours. They try to prioritise families with babies or young children, those who are pregnant as well as the elderly so if you are not in any of those categories you will need a lot of patience. At some point there was a power failure and this added to the wait time as it took several minutes to get their systems back online. I opted for Keep My Passport as I need it for an upcoming trip in June and with current visa processing times I couldn't risk submitting it. It nearly didn't work out as I was informed that earlier in the day they were not able to offer that service (keep my passport) due to some glitches somewhere but by the time I was attended to they had resolved the issue.

I had printed all seven pages of my checklist as well as the whole appointment email. But they don't need all of that. In addition to your passport, provide just the following:
a) the first page of the appointment mail
b) the first page of the checklist
c) photocopy of passport data page
This applies to those who uploaded their documents online. For assisted service I think it is slightly different. The TLS staff will explain the requirements. There is no need to staple or clip your documents together. If you do, they will ask you to remove them.

Also they expect your phone to be off while you are in there so be prepared for that. So for me, the long wait now begins. I will try and update the thread as much as I can. All the best to everyone!

Congratulations!
Based on the earlier experiences of others in this thread who chose Keep My Passport, it seems they got their passports back in three to four days.

Oh. Thanks for this. I was thinking of trying to request to withdraw my passport as the trip is an extremely urgent work trip I need to take in like a week.
I guess I will wait till Friday.

I want to renew my passport and I was asked to change my maiden name in my nin to my husband's name as it is in the old passport

Oggg:
it doesnt change anythin. Most times women change the name on their nin to be able to do do name chnage on passprt, as u already have it done on ur passport which is a legal document, there are no compelling circumstances at this point

to change name on NIN you will need to do data modification. Go on NIMC website and read the docs u will need then go to REMITA and make paymnt to nimc. 500 naira. Print out receipt when done + supportn documnts and proceed to nimc office. Can sometimes take 3 to 4 weeks for correction to reflect. Once that is successfully done, only then can u apply for the passport with the new name.

u need to find out exactly from him what visa type he is under.. that will determine what u re to apply for. If u apply for wrong visa type, your money will be lost . U say he is based in uk.. what route?

You don't really need proof of funds. Two of my children schooled in the UK and they were never asked. However, if it makes you feel better, you can print your statement of account and take it with you.
