OP, this is a normal occurrence in Nigeria. I have experienced over 20 cases like this, the problem is Poverty from the family of the survivor and lack of knowledge and will from Police.

Rape is not a bailable offense it is a crime against the state, except you have Police that doesn't knows their Job or Lawyer not willing to follow the case.

Look for FIDA (International Federation of Women Lawyers) the take these cases seriously and personally. Look for their office in your state.

I was discouraged by a case like this some years and the perpetrator was a police man. I vex go Police commissioner office oboy the case became hot got some "Justice".

Next time censor the name of the survivor, by posting her name you might have put the family in danger.
