Notwithstanding the gas, water, stress and time used to cook that food. And imagine warming a pot of soup over and over for someone without a refrigerator or electricity let alone the cost of fuel and maintenance of generator if inclusive.

But if two or more persons are involved, cooking is preferable.

It is worthy of note that the criterion for judgement here is relating eating out to cooking considering a particular amount of money.

Problem with eating cheap outside is that you'll never find satisfaction. The food hardly taste nice: sometimes, it's edible other times you can't look at it. And by cheap I mean bellow 1k per plate.
Then if you must eat in standard restaurant, the cost is steep.

For my new area,
For morning I go rush one woman shop, she sells almost every food aside swallow.. but na early morning business, so you gats go around 6:30-7am.
200 naira beans from her, I no de fit finish am once, or I fit buy jellof rice, or spag.. then afternoon, either bole 5h or soup/eba 4h.
Note: if I eat that beans, next food go be around 4 or 5pm and if na swallow, no more food for the day.
Some other times, I fit eat my bole finish, then go buy only soup for the night, as I get gas and raw garri for house

In some developed countries cooking at home saves you some money. But if you're the type that's serious to make money, the type combing two or three jobs, you will do away with the idea.

Now in Nigeria or other parts or Africa, it's cheaper to eat out, in Restaurants. It saves you time, I keeps you single/double bed apartment clean. There are no fixed prices of foodstuffs, condiments, cooking gas or kerosene. They keep on rising. You will hear there's war so so and so place and they have stopped bring yams or beans down this so and so area. One area will ban a particular livestock product, the list goes on. All you have to do is to walk in to a nice and neat restaurant, have you meal and leave.
Then the way things are going, girls are desperate for marriage and for relationship with rich and promising guys, a random girl, you took home may poison your food in the name of helping you cook. She may even get a love or control charm from a voodoo store or shrine to influence you. When she sees that you don't even cook at home, her chances of poisoning you is limited.

As for spoon

In the evening

There are very many places you could eat good food. Not necessarily those thieving eateries all over the place. (went to eat rice and chicken on easter eve at one Genesis in PH and they charged me 3,500. just rice and chicken oohh. Na Gold dem take cook am?)

I know very good restaurants here in PH were you can eat very good food for 800 to 1k. I mean very delicious and well made.

Even at home quality varies. It doesn't necessarily mean because you call it "home made" food then it must be good food.

i tell you solemnly, some people's home made foods are still worse than the mama put you talked about.

So i insist, FOR ONE PERSON, it cheaper to eat very quality food outside than to make the same very quality food at home.

This is for one meal. For three square meals, multiply that figure by 3. I used indomie as an example because if you cannot do home cooked indomie cheaper than outside prepared then you probably cannot do any home cooked meal cheaper.

When I was a still a single bachelor, i don't even buy up to that figure and it last me a month and some weeks

Myself personally, I've decided to be eating out unless my gf visits or I get married, reason is this: I can cook a pot of soup of 5k only to eat it twice or trice den get tired of it and dash it out to my neighbor. But I can eat with that same 5k for upto a week with different varieties of meals...Single life no sweet me again to be honest.
