You'd still have no chance of winning a shootout so what's the point?
Why would I have no chance?

Two things every youth especially Southerner and Christians need in Nigeria now is
1) Gun
2) Peter Voters Card #PVC.

How do Fulani herdsmen get gun ?

Unless you're Rambo, one man is not winning a shootout against multiple persons armed with high calibre rifles. Just reality.

who says I will be the only one armed? Also gunning down just one or two of them will make the rest have a rethink about their next move, this is quite contrary to the field day criminals are having right now, completely unchallenged!

Govt shouldn't allow that request ooo. The system is already frustrating, now allowing firearms will add more problems. take for instance my phone was stolen two days ago, I went to MtN office to retrieve my line, there was endless queue and the customer care people were frustrating customer so I decided to get to nearby ATM to collect 2k to get something to eat while waiting. At the ATM only one machine was working and one unreasonable man was withdrawing money endlessly, when he exhausted the limit for one card and brought out another card. Imagine having a gun with the frustration from stolen phone to mtn wahala. That innocent man for collect.

I'm in full support of this.

It is so disheartening to see some groups of people to just wake up and start killing people unprovoked just because they want dominate other religious or ethnic groups.

Enough is enough! No one or a group has monopoly of violence.

But it is a pity those guys won't allow, they want to kill and reduce the population of Niggars in this country....

Brothers and sisters, guide your head...

Nigerians cant carry firearms, there will be lots of active shooter incidents, even the United States Government is regretting now for legalising firearms. That's not the solution the solution is extreme vigilance, how many people know how to handle firearms in Nigeria. Do you think firearms can deter terrorists, It won't. Just pray they dont have access to weaponised drones and mortal launchers.

America has suffered series of indiscriminate shootings by psychos in the last fees years . but do you know what? America I'll definitely defeat them and restore peace because all and sundry are against them. Plus, no gunman in America that was never arrested nor shot to death. They were all arrested or terminated

But here in Nigeria this has been happening for years, nobody has been arrested, killed or held accountable. And you expecting things get better. You are all fools a swear

It's a welcome development at least the bloodthirsty killers who have always enjoyed some form of invisibility will think twice before embarking on any attack.

Guns in the hands of good men, is the best way to attack the bad guys, police can not be everywhere... Nigerian government should allow gun license for fully vetted people. Critical times call for critical measure. Imagine if 100 people in that church had guns, automatic guns, they will repel the terrorists.

Indeed and not just for Nigeria. It would sound the death knell for an already comatose Africa. Can you imagine the amount of weapons that would flow into Nigeria and, from Nigeria, wash all over Africa?

History informs us that Nigeria Customs regularly impound shipments of pristine firearms. Private Arms shipments like these will be legalized. Arms will continue to flood in from Libya Gadafi's old catchments and this time without effort by Nigeria to control the inflow. Crud local and West Africa fire arms will increase and the legalization of rights to bare arms in Nigeria would excuse border guards their usual failure in stemming cross border smuggling. And all i have mentioned will be boon to Nigeria's shadowy businessmen and cabals. I mean the type of business people and cartel that have ensured Nigeria has poor electricity coverage because they sell generators and poor roads because they benefit from road building contracts. Such unscrupulous people would create additional conflict or insecurity situation that ensure Nigerians always need weapons and munitions. We have not even mentioned the likes of Ethnic bigots such as the Simone guy in Sweeden or the Yoruba one in Togo. Then militants in Delta and Cattle Headers Association. The people that smuggle drugs into Nigeria from Columbia and elsewhere will also side trade in weapons.

You've only had a gun pulled on you twice? Bros, I'd say one time is one time too many. You'd have to be seriously desensitized to gun violence to feel that having a gun pulled on you twice is normal.

But what's the argument for carrying handguns - other than just wanting it?

I don’t wear my emotions on my sleeves.

Not a biggie with having a weapon pulled on me twice in 33 years.

I just don’t want a gun, I want the government to pass legislation to allow concealed carry.

It not even hundreds but just 3 to 5 armed church members would have changed the narrative.

We reject the legalisation of guns and fire arms in nigeria. .see what is happening in USA now...mass shootings everyday in USA ..due to the legislation of guns and arms.. innocent people killed and shot everyday in USA
It's just for the federal government to make the economy to be good and better...all this unnecessary killings is due to hunger poverty hardship unemployment frustration of the bad economy

There are far more killings in Nigeria than America. As it is now, guns are only in the hands of the bad people, we need guns in the hands of good people too to balance it

Then tell me who are the good people? Atleast it wasn’t like this from the inception of nigeria so what actually went wrong ? Why the upsurge in insecurities? Those are the questions begging for answers in conclusion legalization of firearms is not a way to go…

Now they are saying FG to legalize arms, so they can be killing themselves. If Anglican Church member see Catholic Church member dey will start killing each other blaming some innocent people wey no get hand inside the matter.
