By the way, what of family of six that live in a room and parlor apartment? Are they not living fine.? That your girl is being too choosey and I think you caused it. Teach your children how to manage when things are not so rosey otherwise they'll grow up not being contented or knowing how to manage hard times.
Nothing too difficult here ..why can't the girl sleep in the sitting room?? 1 Like |

osato45: have a talk with your kids and let them understand why things are the way they are.
In terms of sharing, you can get a second mattress or foam possibly 2 by 6 type and place in the room where the kids are to stay, let the eldest occupy the bigger foam and the youngest takes the smaller foam which would be placed on the floor
Or better still get a wooden bunk bed of 3 by 6 that would make one person stay up and the other stay down Let the young boy make use of the living room, or share room with him, when you need each other tell him to excuse you, the boy is mature n he understands |

I got a 2bedroom flat because the place is close to me and my wife place of work.we couldn't get a 3bedroom around the area cos that was the one we saw at the time and it was not costly.
But here is the problem I have a 19yrs old boy waiting for admission and a 16yrs old girl in ss3 but I don't know how to allocate the 2 bedroom maybe my wife and I should take one and leave the other room for my son and daughter but my girl is already a lady and she doesn't want to share a room with her brother,,am also thinking my wife should share one room with our daughter while I share the remaining room with my son but what if me and my wife need each other.
Where we relocated from we had 3 bedrooms and everyone had his room but because that was the only apartment near and less costly we had to take it.
Get two medium beds and divide the room with a curtain. |

well, the boy can make a corner of the living room as his bed space at night. You need to have a talk with them to have their things together in one room but the boy uses a part of the living room at night. With time, the boy will be used to it. Just my thoughts though 1 Like |

There's no problem here, and the problem is you, why won't you and your wife share same bed in a room ? Man & woman ought to sleep in same bed same room daily this will create more bond. Don't make mistake of mixing your male & female children to share same bed.... It's tempting. This' matter doesn't need public advise 1 Like |

Your wife should stay with your daughter. Then you stay with your son. When it is bed time, your son will sleep in the parlor, while you and your wife sleep in your room. When it's morning your wife goes back to her room. It would work that way. 1 Like |

God bless you fa. How I wish, I'm the Op son! I wouldn't take this rubbish, so she's special and the guy is not. Rubbish. satandeterrible: Many fools here saying the son should sleep in the sitting room. Imagine. Are men born to suffer? So the boy should sleep in the sitting room while the girl enjoys the whole room to herself at night? The girl get two heads? Why can't she too sleep in the sitting room so the boy cab sleep in the bedroom.
That's how unnessasry divisions start cropping up in the family.
OP, you girl is spoilt and that's a fact. She probably masturbates while alone in a room, or she probably has stuff she smuggles in and out of the house which you do not know.
When I was young, I had three siblings and we all slept in one room without issues. But you think your daughter at her tender age deserves a room for herself. Okay.

Your daughter is right to feel that way, it's not a crime. You and your wife already have grown up kids. Let your wife and daughter share a room, while you and your son share the other room. Sex is not an issue here, you two can always devise a means it's not like you two are newly married Simple. |

Orlaoluwayimika: Hi bros Teekay213,
This is not a difficult issue at all. In fact ur daughter is right for not wanting to share room with her brother but that needs to be corrected in a way. Cos saying she doesn't want to share the room entirely with him is not possible in this sitn. Both of them would share the room togeda but both of them shouldn't sleep in the room togeda
Bro can be sleeping in the sitting room but his wears would be kept inside the room I believe the room has a wardrobe and if it doesn't pls get one so they can ve separate space to keep their wears in the room whilst in the night, the bro sleeps in the sitting room.
Pls ignore the insults from oda people and people saying she is ova pampered. She is an old teenager and she needs some privacy and it is not morally right to allow both brother and sister share the same bed so the 19 years old boy no need privacy ?? 3 Likes |

Op you have to look for a way to partition the other room Where your children stay no matter how small it turns out. ...they are grown up enough to have their privacy.....I really don't see how a 19 year old boy and a 16year old girl can share a room....the girl particularly needs her privacy because of their peculiar nature. 1 Like |

Hey, since it is 2 bedroom's, it sure gets sitting room. Tell your daughter to occupy the sitting room at night. There's sofa, there is 2by6 foam as suggested by someone to use at nights to sleep. It is as simple as that. Both kids in my own opinion are at puberty stage, caution must be placed. |

I remember vividly when my family were still struggling. We lived in a one room apartment and when I say we, I meant my 3 elder sisters, my elder brother, my mom and my nephew.
We all understood that we had to manage our situation as that was the only available option.
We were all happy in that small one room apartment which also doubled as our parlor, and kitchen atimes, when it's raining.
We were thought humility and respect to one another. My sisters found ways around it to manage the situation and after 6 years, we all have our mansions including me the last born.
Sometimes, some situations are meant to bond the family, if we see it through that lens.
What is special about this body that siblings can't occupy one room happily?
The truth is that there is need to call for a family meeting. Enforce family devotion in your home and everyone must be present. Let them see themselves as brethrens apart from being just siblings.
If the teen girl said she can't share same bedroom with her brother, then let her bring money to add to rent a 3 bedroom apartment in my mom's voice.
Very soon, they will leave for their high institutions and the house would be free again. But for now, just as many wise people here advised, get additional mattress or a bunker bed for them to sleep separately.
All the best! 3 Likes 1 Share |
