I accommodated my church member once and had to tell her to leave after some months cos I had become a squatter in my own house. She brought in her family and almost took over my house( my space, food stuffs, privacy..)

I learnt to help from afar especially when it's money and accommodation related issues.

A very wack and inhumane philosophy. Personally, I learned to always relate with people based on their individual merits without undermining my philosophy.

To move in no be the issue, to move out na the koko. Na quarrel dey always end am last last and most times, that person is taking something very vital at the end of the stay.

My dear I help alot, to a fault even and I will continue to help, but you see my house, my brother fogerrit.
I don't mind paying for hotel bills to save my sanity and if you feel you are too stranded beyond what I have offered to help with, just go to the nearest police station. Police is your friend.

During covid, a "distant" friend I came across pleaded with me that he needs a place to put up for 2 - weeks and quite honestly my house was so big big enough to accommodate 5 persons but I love my peace of mind

So I told my friend, 2 - weeks you said right?
He said yes
And he said he will take care of feeding and all his essentials and I said that's fine

All I will say is current realities have made doing good a disservice to one's self.

A very great disservice! I was busy sending 70k to my younger brother every month for the past 1 year because he always complains of hardship to feed his family! I just found out that he has been codedly building four flats storey building, and he's at the roofing level. I'm happy for him though, but he thinks he has been playing me. No wahala

Give what you can instead.

You don't generalize your experience. When people refused to accommodate you, same you will start labeling people evil. I have accommodated more than 20people and have no major regret doing so. Some of those I have helped are doing better me or we are same level or I am still better than them now. I am glad I never rejected anyone.
