That's what we were brought up with, and I've also inculcated it in my own family too.....

I'm a catholic and once an alter server, so I get used to offing my phone before even stepping into the sacristy

Motivational speakers will put you in bigger trouble one day.

For you to get the best out of service, you just need overlook a lot of things and focus on why you went to church. Am I against correcting people? Not in anyway.

For instance, quite funny though, I don't take phone to church, in fact, I stopped wearing wrist watch to church at a point because of how I'm always conscious of the time and thinking the service is taking too long thus missing what God has for me. So whatever it is that will cause distraction for you, just overlook, better still, you probably could just look for another seat so you can concentrate

I was once invited to a church service, I think it was Redeemed, we didn't sit for two minutes straight. After every few minutes, what I would hear was 'may we all rise to our feet'. This continued till the end of the service, I was soo frustrated.

Needless to say I didn't go back there again, ever.

That I've seen in my church at Egbeda.

He may have a very good reason for doing that but that remains unknown to me. Let people know what they do wrongly or if you can't, leave them to God or their "righteous" reasoning for doing the wrong thing.
