I really felt sorry for it but I can't touch it because I'm scared of it claws and probably it's also a wild bird.
Nobody dared go near because all of us are afraid of it.
Everybody was just snapping it from afar... lol
Some said it doesn't see in the day time and I think they're right as it closed it eyes and never opened till someone threw small stone at it and it ran into that corner behind.

Yes owls are nocturnal (only active at night). A knowledgeable youth up there had pointed it out. It would likely take off at night. If that didn't happen, know that the universe has decided to test how hospitable you are towards a bird cheesy

Probably hunting for other birds or found rodents around, orphaned and confused, found a native tree around synonymous to its home. But I reckon it’s injured, given it’s not moving much but whatever you do to get rid. Please don't kill it.

Pls, do you stay in Lagos and if it's still alive and u don't need it, let me know...
Otherwise, go close to it with a wrapper and arrest it wings and claws and after that, u can use syringe or a straw to give it water. Most the the birds in this state are dehydrated. After that, u can feed with with any crushed food or milk if you have or can afford. That's a good bird to let perish while just merely staring at it.

One early morning we heard a girl screaming at the top of her voice in the hostel and we rushed out to know what's up. We saw a big owl at a corner, come see prayers that morning. Even club boys/girls were speaking in tongues. grin.... I couldn't believe students could behave like that, most of them believed the owl is evil.

It was later caught by our security men and burnt after many prayers.

Meeting this owl as a child was my greatest shock. Very scary look...

One was caught when I was in pry 2 or 3, the whole school gathered to see the "evil" bird. grin

The naive teachers killed the poor thing. We talked about the experience for many years.

Naija has been backward from many generations angry grin

Where I live now, one do come around once in blue moon. I just look at it and shake head. cool

In addition to this, research shows that owls are predators, occasionally preying on especially small reptiles such as snakes.
The hunting instinct may have lead it to your compound, especially if you live close to a swamp where certain species of snakes breed - such attract birds of prey like this barn owl.

Snakes usually come out during the day to sun-bask, the partially blind barn owl has a super high sense of smell and sound detection... They can perceive the slithering sound and location of a prey, and as such swoop down on their catch!

Perhaps you want to check crevices and soak-away chambers area for what's attracting this bird to your compound.

Good luck!
