Good evening to everyone here.
Please I need some advice from the Elders/Great minds here.

So I saw a van on auto trader contacted the seller and told him that I will credit his account £200 to show commitments which I did. Cost of the van was £1700. The following day I went to see the van and realized that the van does not come up (start). I told him that let me think if I will continue with the deal or not and that he should give 3-4 hours to make some calls. I left his garage because I needed to do school runs and other things at home.
He kept calling if am still interested or not and I told him that I will get back to him that night.
A couple of hours later I called him that am no longer interested in buying the van since it doesn't start and I will like a refund. He said his boss won't do a refund and that he will get his boss to ring me in the morning.

I waited for his boss' call all morning to no avail. Eventually, the boss called later afternoon and told me that that they will not be doing any refund. That I cannot just be messing people around. I sent him a text message that he should pls refund the £200 and I don't want any problems. He has kept mute since yesterday.

The van has been taken off the auto trader site.

Please I need advice on how to handle this case.

To be honest, I think there might be details missing from this.

You paid a deposit for a running car and when you got there the car did not start, but you still had to take hours until night before letting them know you wouldn't buy it?

Sounds like the vehicle was advertised as-is or something like that.

If truly the vehicle was advertised as running but it ended up not being functional, and the person runs a business (since you said he has a worker and garage), you should make a report to the police and allege fraud.

I’ve just checked the CCTV with my landlord now, lo and behold, the guy in the picture stole my package…. My flat has a kinda touch key that opens the front door, every tenant has a fob kinda key, the landlord reiterate that isn’t a tenant. How did the guy entered, I don’t know…. I’ve been calling police number since but it’s just been on hold… Mehn, I’m flabbergasted. UK is a jungle too, not much different from 9ja….

Imagine someone just bringing Ghana must go bag to raid peoples flat for delivery… I will follow this case to the end… I will be visiting police station every day… The swag box cost me a lot…

I’m really pained

we're in this same dilemma that's why we're looking for alternative.

BA is outrageous
Virgin Atlantic is toooo expensive
Klm, air France, Lufthansa all require transit visa
Ethiopia will be having stop in Brussels, I don't want to risk it also, so man no go hook for road.
I used Qatar Airways, affordable compared to others, no transit visa required, no issue of covid was raised. When we were getting down, we saw people carrying their blanket, we carried ours too and that's what we are still using here. I will fly them again because I need more blankets.

Justwise, I speak for Glasgow alone. Students with families are getting council houses. Heck, a single lady got 2 bed bedroom within 2 months( a miracle) after applying. I got one too. I know about 5 other families(applied) staying in council houses( housing association apartments), newly built sef.

This is an outright untruth.
NO WHERE in the UK will Tier-4 students get COUNCIL HOUSES.

The writer of this fallacy simply chose to pull the wool on the faces of vulnerable individuals by deliberately creating the (false and wrong) impression that Council House = Housing Association. The two are not the same.

Egypt Air is not bad at all. When I use them, I deliberately choose the very long overnight layovers. They put you up in a hotel with dinner and breakfast included, and if your onward flight is in the afternoon of the next day, you can go on a trip to see pyramids.

Trip is privately paid for separate from the airline but coordinated so you get back in time.

For the fairly cheap price, it’s not a bad deal at all.

You see Turkish airline they specifically stay by the exit door to collect that blanket. If you see get cold they won’t give you that blanket to take away! I will never use Turkish airline again unless I need to visit Turkey

I know this reply is random, but it’s aimed at people planning to use help to buy and inspired by the poster that formerly wanted to buy a home separate from her sugar.

If you’re using help to buy, you’re automatically buying the home jointly with your partner. Please plan accordingly.
