With all the money in lagos the federal cabals are still holding states from generating its own own electricity, they have the Atlantic whats stops them from building a flat hydro turbines dam ,bunch of ass holes 9nly making money from corrupt white men who pay them to import generators and solar powered tech.

Even when govt ensures the system is working, some of these doctors and consultants will still sabotage govt effort all in a bid to continue to refer patients to their private hospitals. This is what many of them do and I stand to be corrected. They will always tell patients facilities are over-stretched or one machine is not available while they refer such patient to their own clinic. Everyone is culpable in this country and the blame should not be entirely for the govt alone.

Yes, as Peter Obituary did for Anambra. I hope you know that Tinubu brought the first independent power plant to Lagos/Nigeria.

Nigeria has happened to the deceased innocent infants, same way it's affecting the adults too.
The infants counterparts in a developed and advanced nation will still be alive by now, because they value life and knows the importance of good governance and good life.
Unlike cassava and agbado government they run in Nigeria.

Excuse me
Was Peter Obi in APC when the Anambara State workers were on strike for 13months?
Was that not even worse than this?
Be shouting APC up and down as if the State Governors from other Parties have outperformed their APC counterparts.
We are not sincere about our problem

It’s a federal university teaching hospital, and the federal government cannot provide 24 hours power supply in Neonatal and other ICU departments? What about provision of solar power? What about UPS that could sustain those infants until power is restored?

Funding for health in this country is very poor. We spend less than 3 billion dollars on health. UK spends far more than that. Nearly 200 billion

That's a big reason why our government hospitals are in a bad shape. Nigeria is not earning enough money. Corruption messes things up further.

Plus most pediatricians don't have private hospitals with nicu capacity. If anyone of them does that is someone with the burden of a loan from a bank on his or her head.

cry.

I weep for my country.!!

but, wait, is it that the hospital don't have standby Generator that's big enough to power the hospital.?

Our lackadaisical attitude to government work in this country is heartbreaking Sha.

The same thing I was thinking here. We all know the epileptic power supply in Nigeria which is wholly the FG faults. But what about the hospital management? What have they put in place to avoid situations like this in times of unstable power?
The teaching hospital here has all these in place. They don't only rely on nepa light. There are heavy generators that can be used to power entire sections of the hospital. Apart from this they also have other small generators in important areas like the ICU, A&E, surgery theaters, Paedatrics ward, and NICU incase those big generators should fuk up as another back up plan.
Will we say the entire UPTH do not have backup generator or even small generator to run the Paedatrics units?

So The hospital can't afford a generator for backup?
A central UPS can be installed to backup the critical areas like NICU and ICU.
A battery-inverter system can be installed in the OR to back up the equipments
Even solar system can be installed in the case of power failure.

If a big hospital like UPTH can't afford different means of back ups in the case of power failure, hmm make i no talk lipsrsealed .

Some patients lives depend on these equipment, and these equipments depends on power.

Abeg they should improve o, if it's a working country, those patients will sue the hospital

see ..Peter Obi or Tinubu..

if you ever become president..please focus only power..power seams to be the only problem a determined leader can solve..no one can entirely deal with security issues..infrastrucuture is endless meaning you must continue to build..but power is something that can be solved permanently

Fake news tho

Why do you say so?

Mind you I believe the babies didn't all die at once, I believe it's a recurrent issue.

Same issue happens to all university research facilities, all research programmes which was being done before the strike have all gone bad despite the use millions students and lecturers must have spent, not to even talk of the laborious effort put into those research at first.
They'll have to start again.
In a country that has little resources, much is being wasted just because of this electricity issue.

The hospital should be closed immediately, there is no excuse for their incompetency and nonchalancy, the hospital will not admit a sick person without paying money , so money is not the issue here , government should close down the hospital and sack the management and the parents of these children should sue them to court
