HP and Rental are both long thing, wetin person go come do to own a ride of his own when he's not financially buoyant to buy outright? embarassed
Well, I just feel a man sacrificing 1 and half or 2 years to own a car is not much or unreasonable, as long as the ride would definitely become his.
And whether Rental or HP, person wey dey use car go maintain and spend on it.
Whether HP or rental, we as humans go still have health stunts that would require we take care of ourselves.
HP or rental still better than duping people around or involving in any illegal deals, or even roaming around the street when there's no other option to own your own ride.
If there's any other sure legal way, guy man go take am.
Man wey no lazy go chase him goal by the means he has before him.
And who dey do HP 3 years? lipsrsealed
Any HP wey pass 15 months, or max patapata 18 months, I no fit put my hands, NEVER!
I fit pay a good and nice naija used car within 12 months if I see. Who 36 months help?! That one na suicide mission.
24 months self, I no fit put my hands.
Inside life.
Much respect, boss.

The hard truth is this, you can't find a HP deal for less that 20months right now be it a naija used or toks... The reason is this.

Cars are now very expensive, a lot of Corolla in dealer stands are recycled and they don't even worth the amount. Do you know that few months used Corolla now is from 2m and above?

Okay I got a car recently for a client (toks) and let's leave total expenses plus insurance at say 1.5m, if he's to give it out on HP at least 2.5m for either 18/20 months... That's because he was lucky to get the asset cheap... How many people can be that lucky?

Import duty is on the increase, February this year backwards is was 650k to clean a Corolla less 2013 model but now it's about a million... 950-1m I think, Mercedes Benz less 2013 is the most crazy now... I was advised to back off because I was planning on importing some (C200) directly from Germany b4 but do you know it cost 2.4m for just duty alone So you see?

The government made Toyota cheaper because they're aware of it usage else, Corolla 03-06 would have been sold currently for 5m+ now as against 2.8/3m+ currently

If someone was to give such car on HP how much do you now think he would sell it for? And how long do you think it would take a hard working driver to finish paying? 3 and half years at least and that driver would definitely change engine within that period if unlucky.

All.of these are reasons why people like dru23 and the likes are not adding to their fleets and investors are no more going into the business and a lot of drivers looking for opportunities.

So your best bet is rental, save up to a million and buy a manual car... If you're lucky to get a cheap with less trouble automatic car fine, under 1 yr you would have made your capital.

But looking for HP deal of 18months? I'm sorry to announce to you, you won't see that's just the honest truth unless you just want to suffer yourself for nothing.

I no drive today jare. I just rolled out this evening to make some money to eat expensive meal for dinner. cheesy I no want touch my saves.
I grossed 5.8k with 4 trips, paid bolt commission N1,370 and I don reach house since.
Real hustle start from tomorrow.
Much respect, baba.

4 trips for 5.8k? i.e and average of 1.4k per trip a single set destination trip should ear you that amount then do a return trip back home and you're talking of about 9k or even 10k.

Guy you still have a lot to learn but with the bonus chase mentality you've allowed to cloud your mind it will be difficult to school you in some things.

You're on rental and with the hours you out in daily you should be netting at least 25-30k but this your attitude of dead driving and bonus chase will drag you backwards... Liberate yourself from this because your energy and passion will fade away over time for this job so now that the passion and energy and moral is high is the best time you need to know the right thing to do so you can earn better to get your own car.

Hahaha... You crack me with the bolded grin na so we see am ooohgrin we dey manage.

But why do you like dead driving like this? You're wasting money naaaw... Abi is your uncle MRS? You mean you blow empty from Island to main? And Oshodi to Maryland twice? Haba Mana!! Those would have earn you at least 6k net.

Learn to apply the set destination trick some times, it's useful and important and since you've now found a place of peace to work then remain there till when you're ready to close with set destination or should you get a juicy trip to take for instance Airport, Alagbado from say Ajah the you can use your set destination back to the island again instead of doing dead driving.

Stop it!!
Okay, boss.
My fear is bad roads in those areas ni jare.
You know that set destination can only be used twice in a day. Once you exhaust the 2, you can't set destination for that day again.
But still, I hate hustling in that Oshodi area.
Yeah, I drove from island to mainland empty when I had already met my target on the island and traffic mad that day.
Imagine if I was online at lekki that time and I come get order that PU will be 20mins, na cancel I go do and I no want my score to drop again and abuse of arrive button which I know you are aware of.
So, I just say make I kuku zoom go mainland like that - e no mean anything to me.
Some bosses still dey scold me say I dey waste money. I need to learn something be that ooh.
Imagine trip took me to Apapa, boss I went offline straight and drove empty to Maryland.
Apapa and its environ is also a forbidden area to me. There are some places I don mark to never hustle there if trip carry me go.
If I misuse the owner's car and he see am, shey e go last for my hand?
I have a daily target which I always meet up, plenty of times, I hit more than it and I no think say I dey lose oh. I would see myself as a greedy person if I'm not satisfied with what my target is fetching me.
But they still want me to hit big which I will see if it's something I can do sha.
Make dem no forget say no be me get the ride oooh.
If to say na my ride I dey use, I know my target will definitely increase cos maintenance will be mine and the car is mine also, but I'm not there yet. Make I dey waka jéjé oh.
Much respect, sir.

2.4m just for duty on that ride alone? lipsrsealed nawa oooh.
Oga oooh. The lucky ones were those who got their rides like 4-5 years ago and backwards. Cos I have a friend who got his Toks Camry 05 for 1.5m abi na 1.6m. I sha remember say na 1. something million him get am.

Boss man. grin
I wonder how some people still call this empty repositioning shortage. When people also dey complain how Camry dey consume fuel, I come dey wonder whether no be the same Camry I dey use?
Camry no dey chop fuel, the truth is that Corolla dey preserve more fuel than Camry - simple.
Sometimes when trip carry me enter Ipaja side/Ikorodu/Egbeda, etc, once I dropped the rider like this, I go offline straight and I dey blow empty back to places like Ikeja/Maryland/Ogudu road and closed-by axis to reposition myself, cos these areas are forbidden areas for me and I can't risk my boss's car in areas that can kill the car legs - at the end of the day, I go still gross my target, even more than sometimes.
I have friends who are bolt drivers and they made me understand that you don't just drive up and down, set DAILY TARGET.
If I buy fuel 5k, my target na gross close to 25k or even 25k itself, even more than that. And this is on normal weekdays. Many times, I have used 5k fuel to gross 30k before (due to surge).
I grab some wisdom and tricks on this platform, all thanks to the bosses here.
If you're using Camry, 5k fuel should gross you close to 25k, even more than that self.
Phewww.
Much respect, boss.

You still have a lot to learn.

Dead Zones are places we don't wish to go. Not places we drive out empty.

Ikorodu, Apapa, Ojo, ejigbo, Ikotun, abulegba, Iju, Akute, ibafo, Ipaja, ayobo, Igando, Lakowe, Epe......

These are major dead zones a smart driver don't wish to take a trip to.
But if you eventually take a trip to any of those places, no need to drive out empty, cos 60% of the trips you'll get there are surely trips to better areas.

Why drive empty from Ikorodu to Ikosi when your next trip could be to Ikeja?
Why drive empty from Oshodi to Maryland when your next trip could be to Lekki?

Oshodi to Maryland is about 20mins drive, but you can get a trip inside Oshodi in less than 5mins; and 80% of the times, the trip will take you out of Oshodi.

What if you drive from Apapa to Maryland empty and your next trip from Maryland is taking you back to Apapa?
What if you drive from Egbeda to Ikeja and your next trip is taking you to Ayobo?

When you find yourself in one of those places that you've marked on red, the best thing is to look for a better place around there, park and wait for a trip. You will most likely get a trip to a better area.
If you get a trip that's going within same area or worse, reject it, arrive and cancel, tell rider to Cancel. If bad trips keeps coming in repeatedly, set destination from there to the island or island-to-mainland and wait a while.

Again: the best time to use Indriver are times you find yourself in those dead zones, cos you can easily cherry pick rides to better parts.

Sha do what works for you bro. You'll surely get better with time. I did worse when I got in newly. I always drove down to surulere anytime I took a ride to VI, Ikoyi & Lagos Island. Cos of my fear of lastma and CBD.
I will share them here one day. Don't have the time yet.
I'm trying to host my project and create a good portfolio at the moment.

I used to stay online in those areas, but I noticed that staying online there would take me to the deeper location of those areas.
I remember when a trip took me to Ikorodu and I stayed online, the next trips were taking me to the inner parts of Ikorodu which I regretted.
Apapa is a no-work zone for me. Staying online there took me around some areas there that I regretted as well. You know you can't escape driving in between trucks if you're hustling in apapa. Boss, just forget this apapa stuff.
Maybe na me dey dey too careful sha. Cos I can't stay online in those areas, no assurance say trip to take you to a better location - set destination is just twice a day.
Imagine I took a rider to Egbeda, I risked staying online and ride request that came in was destination of Ayobo. I declined straight.
If I drive empty to let's say ogudu and another trip takes me back to apapa for example, I go still go offline and come back to a good location away from that axis.
I know all these you're saying is to maximize my earnings but what about the car I'm using which is not mine? I can't risk some certain things oooh. as I said, I always hit my target. Be it drive empty or not.
Abeg make I dey careful small small with the ride I dey use.
Much respect, boss.

I agree with you boss. Most of the roads in the inner streets in this Lagos can be terrible especially after rain omo. I went to ikotun powerline road, the bad road almost comot bumper
Powerline for ikotun?! shocked
Omoh, you try.
The legends here should not forget say the way a rentee will work will be different from the way owner drivers go work.
Make dem no let person put the car owner in debt and at the end of the day, the car will be retrieved.
Cos you can't give me a car on rental and be happy seeing me in some areas that would put the car at damage risk. Even if na 50k you dey collect week-in, week-out. Me I dey take care of that ride like say na mine - what matters is making my own at the set period and make owner self dey happy say him didn't make mistake handing it to me.
Make dem chill for us newbies ooh.
Btw, you been quiet on this platform for some time now, hope no be say u don withdraw from bolt hustle?
Much respect, boss.

You risk more than think bro.

Taking a trip to those areas is the risk.
Why will you take a trip to Apapa in the first place?

All my time on ehailing, I never for once went to Apapa.
The best I do for those that beg is to drop them at Costain Roundabout.

i understand bro. It has not been easy bro. The first 3 weeks for me on the hustle, I was just making money for lastma police and task force people. They were always catching me for one offence or the other sotey I thought I was cursed. But I guess I learned. We just dey push am bro. Everywhere go good. The hustle and the many challenges almost demotivated me. I dey even dey try pay to bolt now sef, but the money no dey reflect, it keeps getting reversed to my account

Na when I just started new be that naah, boss.
Me wey I don learn how to cancel and regain my lost driver score immediately. cheesy
All those forbidden areas on my list were discovered when I started new (though I'm still a newbie), but a bit better than when I first started.
All thanks to this great platform.
Yesterday evening, I got a trip from Ikeja GRA to mushin when rain don dey start - I just kissed am good bye. Mushin is also among my forbidden areas which I will never stay online around there, I will rather drive to ilupeju to reposition.
Hope I won't get scolded for this, too?
Much respect, boss.
