Good day Giselle,

(1) t's been long I saw a refusal letter for any of my intending or longer personally. So excuse my oversight. I guess they putting oanda rates came into being when our exchange rates started going yoyo. My bad

Pls let any intending applicants go with the oanda rates ( i.e £1= N498)

This will be good for people with small sizable funds and even better for those with more funds.

(2) The shopping or not issue has been thrashed before now so no need to rehash that here. It's not needed if u want to apply.

(3) Eventually, the applicant will still keep to the ratio/percentage I have outlined as before. Well said.

Remember, the great number of people ur talking about are people that come here and give us the news that they have been given. Some are given and never come back while many that are not given don't even bother to come back. Those that are not given but come back are those that felt they followed all processes and didn't know where the refusal came from. Meanwhile there are many ghosts on the platform.

We keep learning.

Goodluck

giselle237:
1. UKVI uses Oanda rates. It is well stated on refusal letters, no need for any over projections. Over projection is not a prerequisite
2. Shopping is not mandatory. We have seen this time and time over again. Many also on this thread have applied for visas without shopping element and were granted. It is not mandatory.
3. Assess your financial situation.. staying within less than 3 times your disposable income has worked for a great number of people.

Hotel is important. Except u have a postcode address and a letter from the occupant of the house address telling that you will be coming to stay with him for that period of time. This is especially important for first-time travellers.

Cashmadam:

You don't need to book a ticket or hotel. They add absolutely no value to your application.

Hi peeps! Does anyone knows if foreign airlines allows payment in local currency? If so, what rate are they using? I heard sometime back that they’ll start receiving fares in USD. I’m interested in Turkish, Qatar, Virgin, & BA. I’ve also have noticed that, return flights from Abuja is about 30% cheaper than Lagos. Anyone here please?

Call the airline they will give u current rate as at the day of payments

It's usually bank rate not black market rate.... Abuja flights seem cheaper than Lagos tho I have seen some cheap flights

Thanks. I called a couple today and none would answer the call. I know daily fluctuations are bound, I just want to be sure about them accepting local currency @ bank rate.

You are almost there, possibly today, Friday or at worst Monday you should receive collection mail.

My sister in law did biometric on 16th May, virgin passport, 6months visitor's visa. We received collection mail yesterday. So yours shouldn't be far off
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by HelenABUO(f): 8:28am On Jul 07, 2022
My biometric was 17th of May.. I haven’t sent paid mail… 20th I got a mail from UK enquires that my visa application has arrived and on the 30th I got another message from UKVI Sheffield that they’ve received my visa application.. they said I won’t hear from them that the agent will contact me when my passport is ready for collection or if they need additional information…
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by tushqueen(f): 8:29am On Jul 07, 2022
I decided not to waste money this time around on paid mail and phone calls, because they jealously guard information they will only tell you whether decision has been made or not. So I decided to wait it out while following the thread. So when someone who did biometrics on may 12 posted, I knew we shouldn't n't have to wait for too long.

Now my question; is collection still at 3pm (like they did around Jan) or any time is fine to collect at Ikeja office

These people are not really organized and they expect you to organize your application especially statements of account to perfection. My cousin and my aunt did biometric together as family application on 26 May, and on the 28 June my cousin already got her passport delivered with visa on virgin passport and up till now my aunt’s passport is yet to be ready.

family application does not mean it will be treated by same ECO. Most times it isn’t that’s why differing dates on collection/decision. That’s why everyone pays their fees and fills out a form each. No joint forms. Take this into consideration.

Hello everyone, please is anyone having issue with UK visa page? Payment was made on Tuesday for Visitor visa application, bank deducted their money on Wednesday but up till today is still showing payment pending.

I called UK visa customer service here in the UK but the lady doesn't really know the process. She just told me to wait and gave me a reference number. What do you think I can do. The applicant is from Nigeria. Kindly assist if you have experienced this before. Thank you

And do you think she needs to do TB test as she will be frequent traveler and may stay up to 5month?

It is likely that they are being treated by different ECOS now tell me how sensible is that to be treated by different ECOS when people actually submitted as a family? It would be more easier for them to look at applications holistically when 1 person is treating say for example 5 members of a family than 5 ECOS taking on each applicant. To me it doesn’t make sense and slows down the application process.
