Monday Gift is actually a two-footed beast. Beautiful player. That some folks are noticing her good she is now makes me laugh.

Whoever saw her at the 2021 Alanya Gold City cup in Antalya, Turkey would not be surprised. And ofcos NWFL followers know her well. A Baller indeed. You can ask Oshoala herself.

I wonder what will be said when Vivian Ikechukwu is also given more chances at this Wafcon. Or Uchenna Kanu given more gametime.

This team is packed with Truly exciting and game-changing ballers. We are not even fielding our strongest XI from the start.


The second half team was stronger than the first half team.

If a Midfield of Ucheibe, Ayinde and Okobi/Ajibade had starred vs SA, we would not bloody lose.

On Toni Payne... I have said it before in one of my previous posts. That lady does not have a bad game in the GWG no matter where you play her. It is in her to just have a good game at least. Some would be spectacular or better than others but the rest would be at least good. Baller. Madam Versatile. LB, LW, RW, AM, CM, where can't she bloody play? Toni is doing well.


Ajibade started very slow today. Misplaced quite a couple of passes. She only picked up in the second half influencing the game in bits from the left and doing a fine job defensively to curtail the Botswanan threat from that wing. Not her finest game but she did enough. Her best moment was probably her drive from the left to set up Onumonu who could have done a bit better but I commend the effort all the same.



Alozie... ever so bubbly down the right wing channel. Although she also caught the "Ajibade first half flu" by misplacing a couple of passes, giving away possession especially toward the end of the first half. One of them could have been dangerous but we dealt with it very okay.

Alozie's energy is to be commended. Babe no dey tire (Payne shares same trait). Imagine if we had an Alozie-George Fullback combo. Damn. Soon perhaps.
Payne is actually doing a great job at LB but it's just that I feel Payne's abilities should in the long run, be influencing matters in our plays further up the pitch.

Enjoyed a beautiful passing sequence moment in the 66th min or so that involved Alozie who received from Ohale.

Ebi to Ohale to Alozie to Ayinde to Monday Gift (beats a marker) and finds Onumonu who shoots at goal. That was lovely to watch. That's Super Falcons football. Expect to see more of such going forward as long as Chikwelu remains cemented to that bench. Amen!!!!


Onome and Ohale were composed. Almost Nothing went past them.

Francesca Ordega brought her experience to bear. Got involved in some attacking phases. A decent game overall.

But the midfield (minus Mama Chikwelu) gave me so much joy right especially after the energy queen also blessed with cerebral qualities, Christy Ucheibe walked into the show.

But even before she did, Ayinde really stepped up to the plate. What a fine weigh on that pass to Onumonu in the 21st min. Okobi did well winning that header to smartly find Ayinde. And what a ball that was from Halimatu Ayinde. That's part of what an Ayinde in-form brings. Defensive Solidity in the middle and eye for the lines breaking pass.

And ofcos.. Onumonu showing Africa what a true number 9 does all the way from the NWSL. Her 4th goal in 6 NT caps.


Back to Ucheibe... damn! Not surprised. She showed her qualities in April earlier this year vs the Olympic Champions, Canada. She hardly lost a battle in the middle in that game and covered so much ground.

Today, she practically could have had a brace or even a hattrick. Ventured forward much more than usual and wow... Desiree Ellis must be thankful Ucheibe didn't play against her midfielders. Dem for hear am.


Regina Otu came in and also didn't look out of place. A fine MF option to have on the bench that can come in and keep the momentum going.

This team, if Waldrum stays off cheap rum and picks right, will make the final. And then and only then... would we finally know if the 2-1 loss was another fluke.


It's good to be back in business. The march to La Decima/La Duodecima continues.

There's nothing wrong with having a bias for certain kind of players, but Basco for whatever reason consistently sides with players born and raised in Nigeria against those raised abroad, and it's beginning to leave a bad taste. While I understand his stance sometimes he at other times throws every shred of objectivity to the wind.

Onome Ebi is a great player, one of the best defenders in my opinion, but she no longer had the pace needed to compete especially against fast players. The Botswana no 7 beat her at one point and took a shot and she just couldn't catch up. It only makes sense to pair her up with a Plumptre who is younger than with an Ohale. To claim Plumptre doesn't match up to any of them is just lacking in objectivity. I've actually decided to steer clear of his arguments especially when crux of the argument is about where the player was born and raised.

Bro, you're being disingenuous. What "errors" are you referring to? First, it's clear to everyone that Ashleigh was played out of position, but she despite that put up an A game. Yes the first goal was as a result of her being beaten by her man, but she made efforts to slow down the South African, so our next man can stop the ball comfortably which Sadly Ebi didn't do. Any sincere person obviously wouldn't absolve her of responsibility from the first girl, but neither will Ebi be absolved. She as responsible as Ashleigh was.

We can't also say she hasn't "shown" she is better. She's had a few games for the Falcons some of which she's being played out if position and she's done very well in my opinion. This takes nothing from Ebi. She's obviously the most experienced and she's also done very well for us the last 2 games.

If I were the coach, I'll play Ebi and Ashleigh and bench Ohale.

Toni Payne is noth an LB. If we meet a team with very mobile wingers we'll be punished cause we'll be left exposed most if the time. But when we meet lower ranked team I think we can stick to this strategy.

Coach Randy Waldrum is the team problem right now, he's having selection problem... Select the rightful ones and make your job easy, don't know if he's scared of the Veterans and big names.


Christy Ucheibe: Had an instant impact after replacing Chikwelu at half-time with a headed goal from Payne's corner kick in the 48th minute. The Combative Midfielder was Full of running and helped keep up pressure on Botswana's defence, I wonder why have been keeping her on the bench. She has no business there .. Ucheibe is the missing link in the Midfield, Very Combative and Energetic… with her and Ayinde and either Okobi or Ajibade in Midfield things will surely flow well…
Ucheibe covers a lot of Ground as she's a born hustler very tireless her effect was felt the moment she came in, need I say more. Halimatu was more mobile and effective. No need for Rita abeg, she can come in the 85th Minutes when we we need to see games out and for her to increase her caps too �.

Gift Monday: Great game from the young lad... Replaced Ordega in the 63rd minute and could have got an assist if Onumonu had scored from her perfectly weighted pass. Could have grabbed a goal herself but her weak header was saved. The left footer look so comfortable with the ball at her feet, an excellent ball passer, the future is surely bright for her. Hopefully she would get to move abroad soon to improve her qualities more..



Regina Otu: Came on for Okobi in the 63rd minute to add more legs to the midfield. The Midfield didn't have the luxury of shining as Christy Ucheibe stole the show...



Uchenna Kanu: Replaced Ajibade in the 75th minute and she helped keep possession and add an attacking drive. Not a bad cameo but I'm still wondering why Randy haven't started her.



Maclean's Chinonyerem : Came on for Onumonu who deserved rest after a lot of tireless running in the 82nd minute. Nothing spectacular though but she surely need more minutes to prove her worth her well built physic will definitely come handy for the Superfalcons...
