That one does not fit in well.

Rather,

It's a case in which you beat someone and still tell him to say sorry to you for the energy you expended in doing the beating.

You can imagine

Very callous and wicked statement

He is borrowing El rufai's demolition template when the former was minister of Abuja. El rufai then, no send anybody, and damned the consequences of whoever's property was in violation of the law. Mosques, churches etc, and even Big politicians then collected. Part of the result of that action today is why Abuja has many parks and green areas.
But most ministers since then seem clueless.

If he bought the land legally... he must have paperwork as evidence. If he has that then he can take the department and person who signed off the sale to court and claim damages. I agree with the governor to make him pay for the demolition. After all... it is our (taxpayers') money being spent to demolish his church because he was stubborn. He need to pay for his stubbornness... not us.

A decorated donkey is still a donkey. An illegal act is still an illegal act.

He must have known it was illegal to build there. I am an estate surveyor and I was thought some town planning in the university. People try and cut corners rather than follow laid down planning laws.

I am a Jehovah's Witness and we ensure we obey Caeser as long as it does conflict with the scriptures.(Read Romans 13:1-7)

Some years back, my kingdom Hall in Ikeja was to be remodeled and we paid about ₦1m to get the necessary permit to do so. Of course, it would entail the evaluating our designs and giving us the approval. It took months but eventually, we go the permission to proceed.

When Haiti was struck by a severe earthquake in 2010, our Kingdom Halla and Branch facilities kept standing as all our buildings met government mandated earthquake resistant specifications.

Sadly, these entitled Men of God want to have their cake and eat it too. The Redemption Camp is a nightmare to motorist when they have their "Holy Ghost Night". The Ogun state government dare not speak out lest the incumbent governor loses the next election.

My dad when building the family house in Lagos left ample setback to the road. We have been urged several times to build shops on it and lease but we refused. We only allowed a lovely Delta Igbo woman set up a small corner shop.

On the 2 occasions when the government widened the roads and upgraded the gutters, we had no course to worry as the extensions never reached our fence. The row of shops opposite ours had to be partially destroyed to make way for the expansions in the road width.

The Onitsha demolishion exercise should be a lesson to all, and to whoever you may be.

Very funny. Its a water way so what possible plan can a town planning committee have for it besides allowing water to flow freely there?? Your mumu too much.

It will be left fallow. The buildings were obstructing the waterways.

Most importantly, whether government plans to use the land or not, respect the law!

I was shocked when I was in London and saw a wide road like Ikorodu Road had only residential houses on it. If it was here, both sides would be filled with commercial structures. The entrance to the houses were not on that major road. It was a sight to behold.

That is actually the law. The offender is given time to remove the structure, if the structure is removed by government agency, the cost is supposed to be recouped from the owner of the illegal property.
Governments in Nigeria just don't go after the owners of illegally constructed buildings after the demolition

He leased the land. In Nigeria every land is leased for 99years as per the Land Use Act. The State government is the trustee of all land in their domain. And the state government has right to even revoke the C of O to the land housing his church.

Beside there is what is called public good in governance lexicon. The said demotion was done for public good to restore Onitsha to it's lost glory. And the truth is not every part of his church was demolish. Is just the part that projected and blocked the water path that was demolished.

Odumeje must have incur so many losses ranging from the Air conditional I saw on the video when the demolition was carried and other valuables owing to his stubbornness to abide by lawful directive by the government of Anambra.

Why are you saying this?

okay are you telling me before he bought the land,he was informed it will was along the waterway or drainage and it will be demolished later and he still went ahead to build it?

I know he surveyed the land but if they had told him that it'd prone to demolition,i swear he wouldn't have bought the land talk more of building.. I think he had every right to feel pained and resist..

Their instructions was demolish, not beat him up

That place used to be a flood channel. But the building was used to block the place. Therefore when it rains, na for God hand everyone dey. So govt wants to open up all those areas based on existing Master plan. Am quite sure Odumeje will not have CofO for that property.

No let am pain you too much.

Well that’s not the case with Soludo. He is not one of those your yeye governors who grabbed power without plans. Soludo already had a blueprint of his new look Anambra state long before he won the election. Go and read his plans for Onitisha. He’s not getting those houses out of the way for nothing.

Once again be informed that El Rufai did the same to get Abuja and Kaduna to the levels they are today. When you have the right people in place, development is easy. With Soludo, Anambra will reach far greater heights on all fronts.

Once again be adviced to join the train of progress and accountability. Remember to get your PVC and use it wisely in 2023 to vote for Peter Obi.

You are sick

Soludo is a solid fool you demolished someone house and have the gut to tell him to pay for demolition....

Sorry but you are the one not thinking wisely. How old are you by the way?

Before Lagos state started the rail project from Lagos Island to Badagry road and Agbado, property owners were informed. Many took government to court. Government prevailed and many structures were removed. Those with Cs of O were recompensed. Those without lost.

Ambode served notices to those in Agege area before embarking on that project. Structures were pulled down. The bridge was completed by Sanwo Olu.

When some so called landowners offer you lands, you must check before purchasing, otherwise just like this case one day government will remove it.

For you youths, your propensity to read without understanding is unimaginable. You need to give deep thoughts to issues like this before commenting. You read clearly where Soludo mentioned that two Catholic Churches were marked for demolition too. Did you not read that several private residences had been marked too? Or did you not read that Ofumeje just like others were in meetings with government before the removal of his structure?

Please read with understanding. Without such moves by government society will remain backward.

Some of our security operative are undoubtedly overzealous. And perhaps, Odumeje must have prevented the task force from discharging their assigned task of carrying out the demolition. Hence the assault. I am not in any way justifying the assault on him. But I read that all property owners whose property were penciled down for demolition held a parley with the government prior to the demolition. The property owners would have made strong case for compensation for their property. Even heard that Odumeje spoke at the said parley. if he was disenchanted with the outcome of the parley, I expect him to have sought the protection of the court In demanding for compensation. No he didn't. Only to resist the the officials on a lawful directive to carry out the assignment of the governor.
