Go watch the match again and you see how awful her throw-ins were.
Rather the lines person in the previous matches need training cuz they failed to spot the fouls

AkinDS:
Isn’t it strange that this is the only match where she’s been penalized for foul throws in this tournament, yet she's been throwing the ball the exact same way?
It’s obvious it’s the lines-person that needs the coaching.

Through passes not long balls?

Is there a player on this earth good with through passes and poor with long balls at the same time?

long balls bounces and may not bounce in favor of the striker and may be time for the defenders to recover..

Through passes are on the ground and easier to control, Chidinma Okeke gave Oshoala nice through passes in the last world cup which she scored..

Onomonu got a through pass against Botswana and finished it excellently..e.t.c..

Tell the coach that not ohale

Ohale only played to instructions
codemaniacs:

tactics that wasn't working... so if the tactic had worked that means that's what SF would have continued playing..

the good thing about it is that she clears the ball but most times the opponents get the ball back...

Oshoala thrives on through passes not long balls... infact most of the SF forward players thrive on through passes, so the midfield has to work on short passes and through passes..

Morocco coach may have something he can work against us.

The long balls. A high line may be his best bet for this but e go shock am say our wingers would break it.

Next,

Isolation of Onumonu in the heat of attack.

If he plans for this, then they may win in facing her. Funny thing is there are others that they can't stop, especially that wack Morocco defence. Her pace will work to their advantage. Just that when Ify is not attacking, she is setting up attack.

His wingers..... If he wants to use his normal play, the one-two and short passes behind Ucheibe, I'd love to see what that looks like. It's their own true advantage against us in my opinion.

Their wingers have some great crosses in their legs.

Our advantage is ensuring that Chebbak does not have a breather. Either with shots at our goal or control, just like Mothlalo and Refiloe did in our first match. Take out Cheebak and the midfield is fulllly ours.

Then their overconfident Dribbler, Mouady Abi what's her name... Someone need be detailed to that girl. I know Ebi may have experience, but one on one, i can't say who will get upper hand. Not putting high hopes on any of the two.

Uchenna will easily have a field day.

We need a joker. They may be out to get rid of Ajibade. They can try but we need to avoid that thing that once our star player is out, everywhere becomes tense and disoriented.

The vs Cameroun Formation will work for me. But Alozie returns to lineup.

Then, psychologically, they are scared. Not one team have confidence facing us on a norms. Not yet.

That's a big advantage. Thank God naija fans are increasing in numbers in the stadium too. Ginger is needed.

Verdict: #Going for 10. LaDecima, OdiMewa!!

The Superfalcons will definitely play a double Pivotal Midfield of Halimatu Ayinde and Christy Ucheibe... Mouady should be ready to battle with this two because she will definitely pass through the Midfield and Flank which Ucheibe is there to run her down tirelessly..

Again Ngozi Okobi defensive side of her game have improved a lot so we have got this...

If we can cut out their passing Link from the Midfield then we're good to good... Tony Payne is also quick enough to withstand that pressure...

Onome Ebi is going to have it with Rosane Ayani as Ohale will be the Cleaner behind her as she's quicker...

WHAT A HIT

Ajara Njoya collects the ball from outside the box, turns and releases one of her trademark missiles from the mid into the back of the net to break the deadlock right before the breather.

HT: Botswana 0-1 Cameroon [Njoya 45'+1]

Excellent analysis. I don't think a high line will work against us. Infact it might set them up for rapid crumbling. grin
As for Ify, I think she should be more involved in build up rather than running behind. Against Cameroon, her lack of pace was so glaring but the moment she joined the build up, she delivered a pinpoint cross that Ajibade scored from.
And I'm afraid Alozie will have to sit this one out..she looks shaky against Cameroon.. But, Ashleigh may not be able to keep up with their winger due to her lack of pace ... A headache for Walldrum grin

I'd like to see Kanu start ahead of Ordega on that LW.. We need her pace and dribbling to trouble their defence...

Positioning and good reading of the game will definitely help Ashleigh Plumptre out...

This made me remember veteran defender Faith Ikidi Michael whose game reading and positioning abilities made the job easier for her back then when she was playing as a Full Back....!

It was first contested in 1991, but was not held biennially until 1998. Nigeria is the most successful nation in the tournament's history, having won a record 11 titles, meaning they have won all but two of the previous tournaments.

The major reason they don't include the first two is because it was contested on Home and Away basis then, until in 1998 when a particular Country hosted it....

They were playing it in rounds then, first and second leg including the final game..

First round
Second round
Final round

this is not only about giving the Falcons the credit they deserve...

Oshoala , Desire Oparanozie and Esther Okoronkwo should seat on the bench when they are fit, Infact Oparanozie days in the SF are done...

the SF first team should be the ones currently playing in this AFCON... replacements should be gotten for Chikwelu, Ebi, Ohale and anyone over 30 years old..

I won't fully judge Oshoala until I watch playing in a Super Falcons that doesn't have Chikwelu in midfield and Ohale in defense... because Ohale was just kicking long balls to Oshoala and abandoned the midfield and Chikwelu couldn't control the midfield..

Please, exclude Okoronkwo and Ohale... Oparanozie and Rita are wasted, they should be shown the way out, while Onome should prepare to retire.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons forward, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak are currently leading the race for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Golden Boot.

One must exit the tournament tonight when they go toe-to-toe in the semifinals.

Who will finish the tournament with the most goal contributions?

Oshoala got injured, if Oparanozie was in this tournament she would have been the major Substitute to Onumonu if she doesn’t start…

You better not write her off…

Oparanozie is just 28yrs

IMO, Ordega hasn't gotten back her old form... She's experienced no doubt, but I don't see her contributing much so far in the tournament...
Morocco defence isn't strong.. A pacy and tricky player like Kanu can put them under pressure.. Putting their defence under pressure will ensure they don't have enough freedom to attack us back...

This is absolutely untrue bruh. The very players that chase down through passes are the same players that excellently latch on to long balls. Take for example Harry kane. Mbappe, Ronaldo, Osimhen, Vinicius etc.

As for Onomonu, she won all her properly delivered long balls. However, she did little with it because she was isolated upfront due to the way we played especially in the first half, and was marked down by Estelle and the left back.

MATCHDAY!

The girls are ready for Morocco.

The biggest game of the tournament, I think.

Super Falcons won their two previous games Vs Morocco.

Morocco has not lost against an African opponent in 10+ games.

Send your wishes to the girls.

KO: 9pm.

naptu2:
Some people are confused about the number of titles that the Super Falcons have won. Well here's an explanation.

The only continental football competition for female national teams that existed in the early 1990s was the qualification series for the FIFA Women's Championships (now known as the Women's World Cup). This was a home and away series and Nigeria won it in 1991 and 1995. It is generally believed that winning this competition made Nigeria the African champion at that time.

In 1998, Mrs Maryam Abacha donated a trophy for an African Women's Championship (now known as the African Women's Nations Cup) and the first edition was hosted in Nigeria. Nigeria has won 9 of these competitions.

Therefore, it is correct to say that Nigeria has won 9 Nations Cup titles and is going for its tenth title. Some will also say that Nigeria are 11 times African champions.

Controlling long balls is more difficult than controlling through passes..

Defenders can easily head out long balls while through passes must be intercepted , chased down or cleared by the keeper.

Her selfishness is just all about wanting to score all the time..

My fear about today’s game is that North Africans have this knack for influencing referees when tournament is being held in their domain, they’re extremely crafty especially at Knockout stages, so we should just have this mindset that we’re playing against 14players. But I believe we’ll prevail.

One thing is very sure. They'll be the one to tweak their normal approach to match us than the other way rough. Despite our calibre, we've tweaked all games to outclass opponents despite our lapses.

Seems Alozie is not great coming from the bench. That game was just off for her.
