I think you're right. Oyetola might be a fine gentleman governor but he represents Tinubu, Alpha Beta, etc. that are cutting big from the little the state has.

People are angry against a man who sold them out to Fulani terrorists.

The Youth, especially should tell us what went wrong and from your analysis,we have a long way to go, especially since the dancing Senator was loved and popular,as if that alone will bring socour to the Osun People,so be it.
But so far, there is nothing the Senator has put on ground or displayed during the TV Debates, to show that he can do better of course, time will tell!
So, people are still asking - where did Govnr Oyetola missed it?

Oyetola is too calm to slug it out with the kind of character and popularity of Adeleke family with a divided front. Our democracy has not developed into issue based. People complain about not spending money and mobilising party members as well.

Very true.that was how they said that buhari won't get 5% but he almost won edo and bayelsa.in ss,votes are gotten according to party structure not popularity.

Oba might win aks

Oyetola is a good person but in paying salaries he's worse. All the salaries aregbesola owed the staff and pensioners he couldn't pay them. He's generating good IGR but all the IGR money is going into tinubu's bullion van and what projects has he done to improve the economy of that state.

Oyetola is a very brilliant guy but he was designed to fail as a governor by Rauf Aregbesola. Unfortunately, Nigerians are very ignorant of what the issues are so they tend to make the wrong political decisions at every election cycle.

Oyetola’s major offense was not executing big contracts and sharing money like Rauf did. Some, especially Osogbo people also hated him for fighting Rauf. But truth be told, what’s in Rauf’s legacy that should be continued? Crazy debt? Crazy religious policies? Crazy educational policies? None payment of salaries? What exactly?

The governor inherited a crippling debt portfolio from Rauf. The state’s monthly allocation was not even enough to meet the servicing of the debt left by Aregbesola not to talk of paying salaries and executing contracts. Still, he managed to keep the state together.

He had two choices as governor, take more crazy loans that the state can’t payback in the next 100 years or cut down on government projects and prioritize payment of salaries, repayment of loan and execution of only emergency projects. He choose the second option and got punished for it.

People, including political contractors simply wanted huge contracts to be awarded everywhere without caring about where the money would come from. They wanted a governor who would come to Osogbo round about and stand on the roof of his car and share money. Oyetola refused all these and they hated him.

I sincerely wish Ademola Adeleke well but I’m eagerly waiting to see what he will do differently considering the huge debt portfolio of the state.

That was why I was surprised that he was really struggling to be the governor then, even when it was obvious that he wasn't loved, both by his fellow party members and lots of people in the state. I was also surprised that he kept shouting continuity as his slogan then, when he knew that there was nothing to continue. After all, he was in Aregbesola's cabinet and wasn't oblivious to the state of things. A sane man should definitely run away from such responsibilities but only God knows what he saw.

I don't think Osun disliked Oyetola because he fought with Aregbesola. Osun hated him right from the bat because he was Aregbesola's candidate in the first election.

I remembered how same thing played out in Ondo state. Mimiko wasn't paying pension and salaries regularly thus, the people of Ondo state fought against the successor he brought out. They preferred to vote for Akereedolu

Same thing played out with Oyetola. The people of Osun didn't like the fact that Aregbesola owed pension and salaries hence wouldn't vote for his successor. It was by miracle through which Oyetola got in the first election because it was close. Now, they don't trust Oyetola for second term because they believed he would behave like Aregbesola.
Aregbe never supported Oyetola as his successor, in fact, that was the source of internal conflict in Osun Apc. Oyetola tried his best especially in educational reforms but people were just tired of Apc, they want to try other options. The same people that voted Oyetola out will vote Adeleke out if he does not perform but I hope he does.

Where is the money to promote his work on TV? Most people don’t understand the debt situation in Osun. Wasting the little resources available on TV ads would have been very irresponsible of him.

With the way I’m seeing Adeleke and his family, they will want to show that they are different and hence, take more crazy loans to develop white Elephant projects. I’m praying for Osun right now.

'Not Aregbe owing' but Osun State Government owing. Sometimes I wonder why politicians don't know that Government is continuity. The Osun State Government has no reason not to pay part salaries owed by previous administration.

If he had met with the workers and agreed that those salaries should be forgone for the overall benefit of the state because of its finances that's a different ball game.

As an administration, one inherits both the assets and liabilities of previous government.

When I listened to my brother/a civil servant in Osun State about one of the reasons for wanting Oyetola out of power. "That he has performed well in his first term and they believe he's coming in the second term to deal with them or perform less. That he refused to pay numbers/years of halves salaries Aregbe was owing, though he pays full as at when due. The man is a very good man I swell to gods.
keep swelling to the gods. But lemme school you;

Oyetola is a good man to some people. Paying salaries shouldn't be an achievement and should not be a yardstick to measure the competency of a particular government.
Sometime last year, I was told someone is now my superior. I just laughed it off as a joke, not until it became known to me that the governor approved conversion and advancement for iragbiji indigenes in the civil service. Ask that brother of yours about this claim, and edit your post thereafter.

There's one thing you people fail to understand. Firstly, I'm from Osun, so I'm in a right position to talk. It's true that Oyetola never owed civil servants, however he's owing pensioners. Oyetola promised to be paying the arrears of salary owed by Aregbe's administration, he hasn't paid a dime. Lest I forget, Aregbesola did not owe workers too in first term. But his second term was characterized by mass hunger due to non-payment of salary. During Aregbe's tenure, I drank garri for a whole week. We really suffered.
Why did workers fail to support Oyetola's second term bid? Osun civil servants feared he may repeat what Aregbe did in his second term, as he's rumoured to be the brain behind half salary as the chief of staff. Osun is a civil servant state; anything that affects the civil servants affect the public.
BTW, it's uncivil of you to call Adeleke a failure. He hasn't even assumed office, but because of prejudiced mind, you have already concluded he would fail. I pray you will be disappointed.

When i say Nigerians are their problems. It is a fact. We can never grow. This same civil servants issues.

Civil servant state without anything to show for it. Just paying salaries. Civil servants are one of the biggest problems of Osun. Wish that state could get a governor with half a good brain and cut the civil service by half .

Half of them are doing nothing especially those in Ministries and Local governments. They go there just to warm chairs and wait for the end of the month to receive salaries. You cannot move them to other jobs because they don't have the skills and would not skill up and would be the first to carry placards to protest at the slightest mention of a test. The civil service is a mafia in Nigeria. Half would not last 3months in a private entity without getting multiple queries and eventual sack because of none existent KPIs. Ogo ta , ogo o ta, Owo alaru a pe.

Na the doctors, teachers, nurses under the state government i just pity. The collective uselessness of the other sectors would never allow them get their dues.

Una go dey alright though. Like I said, Nigerians want development but they abdicate their personal responsibilities.

As for the incoming Governor. All the best. Two things would happen. He eithers borrows his way to satisfy the endless list of "people" who think they had a hand in his election and waiting for their reward and also tries deliver on infrastructure while plunging the state into more debt.

Or he does the sane thing of cutting off the leeches and run more prudently. Saving the state but putting himself in bad spotlight with his so called "open the vault" and "spend the" supporters (money that is non existent).

We all know what he would do. So good luck to osun people. Hopefully a miracle happens, some oil sprouts out from the ground and wins the state billions of dollars in Revenue. Or probably the people would sit up one day and note that genuine development comes from them applying themselves with a bit of support from government. Osogbo has almost 24 hours light in the last 30 years. The only existing industries are pure water factories, shopping complexes and Petrol stations. I thought the general notion in Nigeria was that electricity has been the bane of underdevelopment.

Aregbesola is now the black sheep of Osun State because he didn't work for Oyetola this time around.

I remember Aregbesola was campaigning, they were posting pictures of Trumpet flyover in Osun hailing Aregbe as a reputable Engineer and a prodigy of Tinubu leadership school. But today, Oyetola is a saint and Aregbe is the devil.

Let Oyetola do the mistake of not supporting Tinubu's ambition and watch the same people play his tape. E go shock u say the same people wey call am angel go still call am devil.
