Did my youth service at irele local government in ondo state..
I always love kids but teaching them brought me to a new level of love..I taught pry 3,4,5, thou the kids were not that bright since it was kind of a village.
I did my best.and loved every single day of it ..covid took most of the time sha..
Teaching brings you joy and love.
Felt bad times when I had to use the cane..
Those irele kids calling me master master anytime they saw me in the street.was cool..
I still have their names with me, and still pray for them ..

Bitter sweet.

Teaching can be a very pleasurable experience...

But when you teach with little salary, difficult students, criticism, too much work hours, etc

It becomes really like slavery

I currently teach in a secondary school. Resumption is 7:30. Closing is 4pm.

For other subject teachers, It's very hard to cajole those ss2 boys for weekend classes but they always turn up for literature probably because they enjoy my teaching.
really?

Not too good experience in terms of earning. I used to be a tutor. Yes there's joy of raising young ones but there's sadness of earning low. Teachers are the least celebrated of all professions

Your dp location looks like a beach in Benin republic..

With your picture, I can understand why you had to start sex education. I’m sure you’re now handling older guys on sex education. You’re a patriot..

If you’re the one on your dp tho..

Don't mind the guy o.

He stole another person's post word for word!

After my ssce I got a work as a teacher in a secondary school.
Oomor, e no easy, all those secondary school students with nyash and breasts. Some of them dey purposely stay for front with their legs wide spread and their upper buttons loosened. Most secondary students are virgins but really want to taste dicks. Self control no easy. lipsrsealed

But for the job part, I'm never taking my mom's step to become a teacher again. God help me, Amen cool

Why do I feel like you can through what I'm going through right now
Everything you've just said is happening right now to me, almost everything except the salary part, not much but they pay even before the normal time and they won't slash. But that discipline... Chai!
lavylilly:
I once worked for one back in 2012. Both the woman and the man were pastors. The pay was was very low and sometimes it will be half of your total salary.

One thing I noticed was that whenever they want to introduce a bad policy, they start with biblical verses and then give a flimsy reason for the decision. You cant fight it because what can you do when your coworkers has been brainwashed grin

Well when I look back now I understand why they couldn't pay or slashed salaries. The school was being constructed with different loans. They had to pay back so there is no way they won't cheat the workers if at all they intend to meet up with the loan requirements.

Also, they lick thy arses of parents, discipline is done by the principal ALONE, infact I pity this generation. During External exams you MUST assit the students otherwise you will not get paid.
I started sex education during extra classes, I cannot come and kill my self

Resumption : 7 am.
Lateness : fine.
Absenteeism (with or without a reason): fine.
Punishment: sometimes meted out by the principal. Also, punish with sense, otherwise, you are on your own.
Administrative staff : Mostly selfish and unreasonable.
Colleagues: Many were friendly and helpful.
Pay : reasonable enough plus extra lessons.
Teaching: you go shout tire, correct, lose your voice, deal with lateness of students, copy notes, deal with the slow rate of understanding of some students, be an example for them to follow, enjoy them, train them in the good ways, enjoy their attention and love... It was a rollercoaster but was worth it!
I'll stop here.

My most loved profession, but I will come back when I make this money finish.

Teaching is fun, And if you sabi, students go too like your class..

I have thought from Jss1 to ss3.

It rare for a student to play any trick I can't figure out psychologically.. cheesy

Teaching is a sweet Job..You use money to set a task to become a prize..And watch lazy students sit up..

Them hear am for my hand when it comes to assignment...Back to back till it became fun for them..

One advise, always be professional and maintain boundaries..It will guarantee love and respect.

Impact knowledge.

I taught at private schools and forever regret it and I stopped teaching in 2020 and I don't think I will ever teach again. Teaching in Nigeria is slavery. more work hours, useless bosses and low remuneration. If you love your life avoid teaching in Nigeria. If you have connect doing lesson is better than working for a useless mofo boss in teaching. Very horrible job.

Well, I am with the FCT government as a teacher.
1. Make sure you get to school before 8 am
2. The school closes 2 pm
3. The pay is very poor.
4. My students are making me proud.
5. I can never advise anyone to teach in my life.

Teaching is mentally draining, but I have to do it because I have no other options. I recently started a Youtube channel where I teach English. I have 5 subscribers and I hope to grow the channel. God help me. It's not easy bro. I shoot videos with my phone and edit it with Capcut. I just hope that people love my content and not pay too much attention to the poor quality of my videos.

Teaching is not really an easy job...In my NYSC days way back, It was bad...I felt like slapping some sense into those kids (SS2).. especially repeating myself three times and they kept on looking at me like a specimen in Biology lab angry...

But when it comes to sex education.. as a peer educator that I was back then, they were vibrant and excited sad

Na die

Schools are by far not what they used to be. The students lack discipline and cannot be beaten. It's now a taboo to beat students in most schools.

Fam sh!t is bad, but it always feels good whenever you teach a child something and he or she understands. The pay is fvcking bad, though it's not stressful cos it's a government school, in 2-3 years time, man have to quit cos I can't be stuck in this job. My reward is here on earth.

You are a thief!

very common with some nairalanders, they book space without knowing what to say, then instead of "quoting" the comments, they "copy" what they read from other comments below and paste them in the spaces they booked above as if they own the comments all because they want to generate likes and shares from another person's comment shocked.

Hmmm........ teaching is a modern day slavery.Yes,the students will encourage you but immediately they graduate from higher institution, they seem to forget you.We just work because we have conscience and not because of the wicked salary we receive.
During the lockdown, private school teachers saw hell.Teachers are mostly frustrated and depressed except those ones who have accommodating and lovely family members.

My children by God's grace will never teach.I want to receive my reward here on earth as a teacher, teachers don't even have enough money to take care of their selves when they are sick, they are always managing....

Currently serving.

Teaching is fun for me
I don't think I'd work as a teacher tho'

Although where I currently work is generally poor on education (in the state actually)

Contributing to people's lives and seeing what they turn out feels good actually

I love to teach. Been teaching for about 8 years now. The problem has always been the pay. It doesn't equate to the input.

I feel happy and proud whenever I see the students that I tutored and mentored.

Teaching is actually fun if you are intelligent. I don't see reasons why anyone would hate to impact knowledge in other people's head. I thought briefly it was nice. Try it!
