For those calling it a twitter story,I know of a family like this, they own a duplex in lekki, very high paying jobs, the wife earns a little over a million monthly but they relocated to the US with their kids, they nearly sold their house but a relation was able to talk some sense into them. Now it's been three years since they moved and the wife is still jobless not due to lack of jobs but the type. 6 Likes |

The position posted is an on-call/night shift job offer. Which means this is a position without any benefit, and the RN can only be called to work if there are open shifts. Work is not guaranteed. However, due to the RN shortage, there's a high possibility of getting called in. Additionally, night differential played a big role in the pay bump. Also, the position is in oncology, which means the RN has to be certified in other to handle chemotherapy. So, three things in play here: on-call, night shift, and specialized area. This is not your typical RN wage, with benefits, even in the country of California. cococandy: cococandy: 2 Likes |

Do you know all the insults that come with that salary at MPR monthly? Useless comments that can make one to commit suicide. Comments like " you can't make it in life! "You are a destroyer! "You can't add value" " We will remove you be the end of the month! Banking job is about unrealistic target. Once you met one, the goal post will be shifted. Do you know that about 80% of the bankers are managing BP? To be sincere, #24million annually is a big and good money if the dignity is still there but the labour laws in Nigeria favor the capitalist and not the labourers. Let the man go and try a new life 5 Likes |

No the differential is never added to the pay rate as part of the offer. It’s usually calculated differently. So it would be that pay plus the differential. Which is over 100/hr. Yes that one doesn’t come with benefits but it’s better than 50/hr with benefits. Oncology certification takes 3 months to get after (you’re already an RN) of course. Healthcare is begging for workers now. There are always guaranteed hours. Na you go run. If you want to work 5 days a week, they’ll thank you and beg you to come. I don’t understand all these arguments sha. What about the other positions I shared that are full time with benefits? I done tire sha. I know there will be arguments. Paxlovid: 1 Like |

sulaak:I don't know ur circle and those around you, but people who earn this amount in Nigeria are less than 2% of the population. Again as I said, it's not always about money. After earning this amount, ure stuck with the bad roads, Ill equipped hospitals, insecurity and the likes. The amount your friends will spend going to a good hospital is what an average person there will have as basic health care. The school fees they will pay for their childs 'quality' ducation here is what is considered basic and free over there. The amount your friends will spend on getting a good and secure place to live here is considered as average over there....Our 'luxury" is their "basic". There is collective poverty in Nigeria. The truth is that even though 'the abroad' is not a land flowing with milk and honey, the quality of life is generally better....In the end though, everyone has different goals in life and these goals influence the decisions we make 7 Likes 1 Share |

Paxlovid: That on call position may not be the typical pay for RNs because you’re looking at the on call nature of it. Here are some cities and their full time pay in CA with benefits. That’s one person’s income. Add their spouse’s income if the spouse works. I don’t have anything else to say. This argument is futile. Mind you I never said that’s what all RNs make. I only posted those figures because my post was called suspicious. As if I made it up. Now you’re coming to say it’s not typical like I said it was. Stop putting words in my mouth 3 Likes

Munamoqel:Even if you pay me N50mil now I no fit come back. I dey North America and you can't even compare with Naija. It's like comparing night and darkness. Free healthcare; just call 911, free education for kids, unlimited opportunities for kids (their future is guaranteed even if you drop dead; I know what we passed through when my dad died), constant electricity, study grant....Dem d pay children monthly salary (child benefit) from birth till they reach 18 years. Anybody here can buy the latest car or the latest phone via financing (i.e you take am de pay chikini money biweekly or monthly, if latest comot you fit go exchange again...If any accident happens insurance go take care of it).....wetin be 24mil naira, e reach to pay ransom if dem kidnap you? As of today N24mil is $38,000 which is a minimum wage earning for here. People grow steadily here in a career and get to over $100k per annum. Make I stop here jare. 8 Likes |

baby124:Average rent in US for 1bd room is less than $2k unless you live in San Francisco or Manhattan NYC. US life is luxury compared to Naija. Average diesel price in the US@$5.4/gal while in Naija N850/litre x 4 =1gl=N3400 in Nais vs $5.4/gal x N615=N3,321. Minimum wage in Naija is N30k/m while minimum wage in the US is $7.25 Now compare a doctor in Naija vs Us A truck driver in Naija vs US A university lecturer in Naija vs US Security guard in Naija vs US. After paying all bills, Naija is US are still ahead. Comparing what a bank CEO makes in Naija vs what A US security guard makes, is a beer parlor logic to enunciate. |

They made the right decision leaving the hell hole called Nigeria! If possible, everyone should leave the place for those who don't like progress. A country where they slice off someone's head and shoot because of small money? Best decision for them! 3 Likes |

Not arguing with you. What you posted is not a lie, but I Just want to put things in perspective, for those that may not be aware. Do I think RNs should make more than they are currently earning? For the abuse they take daily, in addition to the wear and tear, of course I do. cococandy: |
