To break it short to you guys. My girl has been a pain on my neck lately on her elder brother's case. We all know her brother is into weed and crack, thats the one we know. Guy is in his late 20s. Last year he made a decision in front of their family to quit and live a better life and they supported him.

Now he is fully back into his destructive habit. Recently, he has not been at home as sometimes he hangs out in a friend's place. His mum got a call from him saying he was picked up for no reason by the police and is presently being detained for nothing. When the mum got there, police told her the truth.

Man was caught during a raid on a drug joint and he must be bailed. Police was even telling the mum that they are lucky the raid was not by NDLEA else it would have been more serious. Mum was in tears seeing her son looking tattered and having gone back to such bad habit.

This is someone that is a graduate, but has let his habit make him jobless and a nuisance. I do talk to him sometimes on the dangers of weed, arizona, crack, xtacy, ice, etc. I even sent him 50k to keep him going at a time. He keeps assuring me he is okay. It is abit heartbreaking for me despite him not being my blood. It gets my girl moody most of the time.

Is there anything his loved ones can do to stop him from taking this? Rehab runs into millions and his family cannot fund it.
But is there something to make the nigga stop and stop being a problem on his family?

Will appreciate responses from those who were able to get their loved ones to stop drug abuse.

Take him out from the hood to somewhere he can’t find it

I pray that he shall find redemption and purpose and forgo his destructive habits in jesus name. It takes the grace of God to quit any form of addiction. Be it gambling, promiscurity, alcohol or even drugs. The best thing to do for one's self is not to start any negative habit at all cause once one does there is a high chance of getting hooked.

I can tell you're a great guy for your empathy towards him.
Addiction is not easy and affects not only the addict but the overall family.

I have seen people come out of addiction, the road may however not be easy as the problem is psychological.
1) let him know you understand it's not easy(if he genuinely wants change) and that when he's ready to stop he always has someone to be by his side.

2)he may relapse, but change occurs little by little. Tell him to avoid all drugs especially crack and ice, but should only take weed when he's having urges to relapse into the destructive drugs(crack and ice).

3) Tell him to think about his future or whatever he looks forward to, and how better life would be when he's back in control of himself. Show him the light in him.

IT IS WELL.

How I wish I can talk to the guy personally but the thing is once you’re hooked on drugs, damn it, it’s gonna be hard leaving it.

Only the person involved can help himself. It’s a mind game

A man once told me it was Jesus that Completely turned his life around after being a drug addict of 15 years

Another former Alcoholic told me that when he realized he could die he prayed to Jesus everyday for 3 months for help before he miraculously broke the habit

When you fall in love with anything, its difficult to stop loving that thing, except it break your heart.......... the said person seems to love weed and drugs and sees no big deal or problem in it, so i don't see any means of stopping unless you make the drugs break his/her heart.

I remember a woman whose husband is a drunkard, the man will always get drunk and start acting rashly, but one day the man got drunk and slept on the road, people called the wife and the wife told them to take his husband to the morgue, when the husband wake up the next he found himself among dead people he felt very bad and scared. Since that day the husband quit drinking.

My point is that you need find a way to make the drugs break the heart of the said person

Modified: Tell the parent to take him to a Correctional Centre (prison, nssdc or any strict agency) and leave him there for about 1week, he should be taught some lesson, he should be put among drug addicts and the rogue guys in the there.

Am sure he will learn, my brother was once a rogue and talking from experience

Rubbish. U don't know anything about drugs. It's not about love it's about addiction until u understand drugs just keep quiet.

Taaa. This one is beyond ur God. What God cannot do plenty baje. Ur God can start by healing him without him going to ur MFM or any church for that matter. Leave God and religion out when we talk serious and practical things.

whats the different between loving something and getting addicted to it? Just a little bit difference, the only thing that can settle dispute to both is when you start having hatred for both issue

I will be very honest with you bro. He will only stay clean for that period of time he's in care of a rehab home, once he's out, he will continue with drugs. I once worked in a private rehabilitation home, where politicians come to abandon their children. The best solution is for the guy himself to make up his mind to stop it.

Stop giving him money, tell all the dealers in his area to stop selling the stuff to him, set him up and make sure there's someone monitoring the business for him. Get him a God fearing girlfriend and let her know his problem

Nah joke I dey o... But on a serious note, the best way to stop an addition is self control. If he takes 200 for example a day, he should reduce to 100, after a month, he should reduce to 50, till he stops totally. It's impossible to stop at a go.
