They too need competitors to compete this market with them or they will end up like Almighty MTN in 2003/2004 selling their sim card for N35,000 back then.

MTN, ya fada!, Baba buroobanka!

not every Nigerian can pay $99 (btw the range of NGN64,000 - NGN64,400) for internet in a month, hope u knw?

most Nigerians will still choose to pay Airtel and co less than NGN5K (btw the range of $11 - $12) for a month for internet connection...

Starlink will be useful to few who can afford it. Airtel and co might be cheating us with expensive data but they are kind off offering to us what we can afford. While on the other hand, Starlink is providing to us what we deserve but not all of us will be able to afford it...

Hope u get my point
You are so on point

Have you guys even consider the advantage to Smart tv users, it will somehow break the monopoly of dstv and the rest.
*Internet calls thereby reducing the money spent for normal voice call.

Sir I beg to differ. Swift has high speed unlimited internet at 25k a month. I have used severally.

I have gotten speeds of up to 10mbps.

I ask again, what do we really need 4k or 8k movies for when we are not oyibo?

Are you aware that 1080 movies are super clear not to talk of 2160?

If you observe, all my talks is geared towards non wastage of funds which this star link is all about.

What they offer is already offered by Swift and MTN at a far cheaper rate. Thanks.

swift and spectranet are only available in selected location, not all of us dey lagos, abuja, rivers...some of us dey osun, abia, jigawa, ilorin and we need super fast network also, which starlink will provide us

no, it is irresponsibility. he is flooding space with debris just to make MONEY !
do you need 2500 satellites to provide internet? there's more to this.

SeriouslySense:
Maybe we need to look at it from another perspective. Think about it, what Nasa could not do, a private company is doing it, Elon musk space X, if i am correct, is making it possible to do space travel, at a cheaper rate, and also may make it possible to visit other planets or eventually migrate to other planets.

But i doubt humans will go that far, because Jesus is coming back soon and because we are self destructive too.

I think the $99 price is just for starter kits like receivers, antennas etc. Even in the US, according to the news, their monthly subscription fees is around $110...
I don't think the sub will be higher than the kit

Price remains unknown. NIGERIA is not among the top tier world population

So certainly dey will reconsider the said price we all are assuming it will be!

I just hope that the subscription will be on contract basis of one month unlimited. That is how it is done in western world but any company wey reach Nigeria go get sense to cheat us.

With the current situation and running cost. Data is not expensive at all. They only need to provide 5g network.

You guys are very funny in Nigeria and thats why oyibo dey use una mop ground.

Swift offers super unlimited internet at 25k a month. Same with Smile and Spectranet. But una penchant for anything oyibo dey kill una.

Pray tell me, what do you intend to do with a speed of 100MBPs? Are you streaming data from heaven?

I do hope you know that at 99$ a month and you have like only 1000,000 subcribers... Thats 99 million dollars leaving that country monthly? Una wan die?

These internet providers you mentioned are NOT KNOWN..some of us have been suffering with MTN in our businesses etc and have been looking for alternatives but don't know where to get them,I have been looking for where to get a good network that I can use in my company that can take like 50 people or more access to internet but restrict downloading and streaming and even the MTN office annex I visited somewhere in Abuja couldn't give me reasonable answers to my questions so I just gave up. And there are a lot of people like me all over Nigeria who Don't know where to get what they are looking for and as a result we have to manage what we see. These companies need mass publicity and promotions to get customers, they need new PR teams

You're definitely from one of the sleazy Nigeria network providers who are fleecing Nigerians while offering mediocre services to them. I see what you did there, twisting the facts. $99 was an equipment charge instead of the $599 they charge elsewhere.

Tell me where the money you pay to MTN, Airtel, and the rest go, Abeokuta?. Wake up dude, it's a global world, and competition brings out the best in people.

You're probably too subsumed in the quest to maintain the status quo that you either forgot or are oblivious about the fact communication fuels productivity. Something Nigerians can make use of right now.

Nigerians deserve a respite from the dragons sucking them off in the name of telecommunications.

Yahoo boys celebrating.

No more SIM registration and NIN linkage.....unless the NCC is smart enough to ensure every terminal sold is traceable to a person using NIN.

Reading all the comments, it's a pity seeing most Nigerians have never experienced real broadband performance at home.

In the UK, you can get 1Gig FTTH for £79/month. 1Gig, not 100Meg...

Starlink is a good and big deal. It will shake up the market and other telcos will be forced to improve their services and possible reduce their prices.

Just watch and see how the internet market in Nigeria will be disrupted with the entrance of Starlink. I've prepaid and waiting for the terminal and service to go-live.

that means the set up kit is standby. Immobile. Difficult to carry around with you. I thought it’d be like a sim oh? So $50 or more for what I’ll only use inside my house ? No

Unless I’m into tech related business then I can install it in my office and be using there.

Will keep using mtn for mobility.

What I do with 100Mbps?
I currently get an average of 90mbps with mtn in my location and I do stream a lot in 4k resolution on Netflix and other services and sometimes 8k on YouTube.

Do you have an 8k TV?

Swift doesn't offer unlimited Internet service.
The unlimited service is only available at night time and weekends and I have read very horrible reviews about their services. Besides, Swift is not available to my location.

Smile is a huge pile of trash. Hardly get 3mpbs in my location, let's not even talk about the 'unlimited' stuff with them. I purchased their router and Internet plans and can authoritatively tell you they are a huge pile of shit. Maybe my location.

I also use vsat Internet, Konnect Africa. They offer Internet services similar to Swift and can be good at times but I currently cannot understand their free night unlimited in their plans.

Mtn hynetflex is by far the fastest but they are not unlimited.
I have over 5 different routers and can tell you Internet services are piece of trash in Nigeria.

$99 sounds like the setup equipment not the monthly sub. In developed countries it cost $599 to get same setup equipment while their monthly cost is $110. Our monthly subscription fee may be $50 or thereabouts.

Thank you! People just comment on post without reading!

Don't mind these Nigerians that just like to show off. I have a 4K TV and I can tell you the difference between the 1080p HD resolution and the so called 4K is just minuscule.

Nigerians love talking too much and showing my off. Nonsense.
Lol. Please there's a huge difference in picture quality between 1080p and 4K, unless your tv is small and/or you have bad eyesight.

Some of us also play games online and need fast reliable internet. If it's not for you that's fine. Don't try to make it seem no one truly needs it.
