Great game Nigeria

Demehin and Sebastian my best players tonight.

Whoever told these girls to launch long balls initially should be flogged. We played better when we kept the ball on the ground.

Our goalkeeper and Alani biggest liability in my opinion.

They need to practice throw-ins before the next game. Today was just ridiculous.

In all, great game

Congratulations Nigeria
The goalkeeper She didn't put any foot wrong IMO

Mercy Idoko (#13) is no midfielder. She is a forward. Played up top all game and always drifted right when need be.

But yes, her pass to Flourish was everything. Once Flourish got the ball in an onside position, I knew it was a goal already. That's the best finisher in African women's football at this level. Even the FIFA+ Commentators admitted such. Lovely game. The girls are ball jugglers. They keep the ball so effortlessly.

Exactly

The keeper finds it hard to grip the ball well, always spilling it first time before holding.
I don't think so. Maybe she was just being cautious. Attempting to catch a ball first time can go haywire sometimes.

The girls got speed
but their height is a problem
it was a problem in first half, especially as coach was advicing for long balls. Dunno why we don't want to use the ground when it's a big advantage to us.

Who else felt like the coach no too sabi like that?

The powerplaying yet technical forward, Mercy Idoko. That girl gave it all today. Beautiful weight on that ball.

She really made up for that miss she had earlier in the second half after good work from MVP, Flourish Sebastine.

Who gave the pass for the goal?

That keeper though, she's jittery at times, giving Okoye vibes.

Even in U20 women WC, Okoye still dey chop stray bullet.

Okay. I saw three of her key passes down the middle plus her connection with our no 8. Gracias.

Idoko. Noted

Joy Jerry (already substituted) didn't put on her bib and ran into the field to celebrate the goal.
Could have been punished or what do you think?

Dunno which one she seems better at in cm or AM. She is calculated and vision is top. She's calm again. Big midfield potential
If she can work on her final balls, she'll be a very good AM.

Mehn that pass was sublime. Very 'Iwobi-esque'. I'm just knowing of Sabastine. How good is she? What club did she play for before becoming a free agent?

Our gk spilled some balls truly. I thought the rain was at play too. She got 5 saves in this game i think.

One happy take away is the vision these girls have. The rain affected their game no doubt.

Nice gesture from the french coach to congratulate our coach for breaking their record. That's a lot.

The goalkeeper must be told to stop coming out unnecessarily, Her average height was almost used against her.. Hopefully as the tournament progresses we would continue to improve...

This girl's didn't play any international friendly going to this tournament.. They tried.

Those feints and twisting tigers there. grin

She makes one expect a big chance once the ball is at her foot. Counter attack will totally fit our style.

You mean you have never heard of Sebastine ? She was nominated for CAF young player award.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by TheSuperNerd(m): 3:12am On Aug 12, 2022
Blessing Demehin is truly a rock I must confess. Carried the defence well. Fast, good game reading and has fantastic recovery. That is a Super Falcons material right there.

Amazing that she is also versatile defensively as she can play Fullback too.

The LB, Rofiat Imuran was solid too and pretty good on the ball.
Jumoke Alani, RB, also showed her composure on the ball and made a few forays into attack. Her only issue was being caught out a few times and not undelapping well enough but she had Demehin to thank on those occasions.

The other CB, Omowunmi Oshobukola also did her job. She may go under the radar for most but she really provided fine sync with Demehin at the center preventing any real direct shot dangers at GK Omini and stood her ground well for Imuran when the latter went on the overlap.

But I repeat, the most noticeable trait of our girls from defence to attack is their composure on the ball and the ease with which they string passes together. ORGASMIC.

I think the commentator explained why she's unattached. Signing for two clubs caused some issues prior to now.

Also the corner kick that almost led to a goal. She didn't cover up well, thank God the ball was cleared off the line.

She really needs to be talked to. A liability in my opinion. Hoping she improves the next game
