The story is different today where Taiwan is an independent country. If we are to flip the coin, do you think Japan will fold it's hands and allow China invade and take over Taiwan? Knowing fully well that if Taiwan falls under Chinese rule, it will jeopardize their own security.

There has NEVER been any confirmation or guarantee by USA that they will use military force to assist or protect Taiwan if China were to reunite Taiwan by force.
