One of Okobi point in her recent Interview live on Instagram… This mentality need to change, football is team work… If the defence don’t hold their own side and the midfield doesn’t do their job while the forwards don’t score nothing will come out..

This silly mentality is the bane of development of soccer in Africa in general and Nigeria in particular.

Dejected Falconets Sleep on Turkey's Airport Floor
Worse, despite the NFF having an official kit supplier, the young ladies were not supplied official footwear and were asked instead to buy their own footwear.

And so the players - who are only getting paid $50 as daily match allowance and no bonuses - borrowed money to buy Nike sneakers and playing boots.

Worse was to come.

After their elimination against the Netherlands, the players had barely three hours to sleep before heading off to the airport, expecting to arrive home within a day or two. They were sorely mistaken.

“We’ve been on a trip to Nigeria since 6:30am Monday. We are currently sleeping at the Istanbul Airport awaiting a 6pm Wednesday flight Istanbul time to Abuja.”

How did that happen?

According to team officials, their tickets were booked for Tuesday evening on Avianca.

But the Colombian flag carrier rebooked the team on Turkish Air leading to a four-hour delay in Colombia. That, coupled with a stop in Panama meant the team missed their Tuesday connection flight.

NFF’s Leader of Delegation Ruth David tried in vain to ask the airline for accommodation, but without transit visas, the pleas accomplished nothing and the team were forced to spend 24 hours at the airport awaiting their connecting flight to Abuja.

But their struggles will not end when they arrive in Abuja. The players have been given N40 000 each as local transport allowance.

Meaning that after three days of grueling travel, they would have to travel by road (or train) from Abuja to whatever state their final destination is.

That is how football has always been the scorer gets to be the hero that's how it is all over the world , even if the goal is a simple tap in or penalty the scorer face will cover all the front page, you always sounds like a jilted journalist or agent

You obviously didn't pay attention to details in the article. The NFF is solely responsible for this.

The root cause of this was the NFF booking the cheapest flights available for the girls. With cheap flights come terrible services. They also aren't making thing any easier for the girls upon return to Nigeria subjecting them to road trips to their destination after the horrible experience in Turkey

When it comes to proper planning and logistics off the field, we never ever get it right with the female national team. Why? Nobody should sugarcoat or defend this incompetence and rubbish action this time. This is highly embarassing and sickening. Whatever the reason anyone feels is justified, is actually not justified.

A proper plan would have done the job. That they had to start 3hrs after losing to Holland shows you how there was no plan in place in the first place.

Buying their own soaks again and then everyone free to travel once they land in abuja again.

10 days to the Super Falcons Friendly with the USA and the NFF is yet to release a team list. I really do hope they are working with players on the background.

There's no point having a friendly game if the players needed for team building can't feature. Hopefully we don't have a repeat of th Canada experience.

Come off it Dave, it had not gotten to that, read again carefully,

That guy was right not blaming Nff for it, everything had been set and booked for their return, if Colombia Airline had not done what they did, then we can say the Nff is to blame,

We should speak well of our sports, and people some times, those negative vibes will not take us anywhere,

Have you asked yourself if the coach had made his list to the Nff for them to release?

You don't have to hold brief for the NFF everytime. When you feel the need to do you're likely to make unintelligent arguments.

When we raise questions or make criticisms it isn't because we have a truckload of hate in our hearts for the administrators, it is because we believe we deserve better and can do better despite the myriad of challenges we face as a nation.

Coaches don't employ themselves, they have people they are responsible to. So trying to pass the buck to Randy is strawman argument. Even if Randy is the one delaying the list (I am almost certain that this isn't the case), the NFF still has a responsibility to ensure he does his job right.

I can think of many other reasons why the list isn't available yet, but the coach holding on to the list isn't one of them.

Hahahaha,

My man it was a simple question, due to the fact of us always accusing the Nff of forcing players on the coaches,

So I repeat again, had Randy submitted any list to the Nff yet

Like every passionate fans of the game, I can't just up and said or criticize without knowing what's up yet,

And how do I hold brief for the Nff with that simple question Tell me how

I am not a part of the NFF, neither can I lay claim to knowing how things work there, but I'm pretty sure the coach not giving his list isn't a problem. Like I said, I can think of other reasons for the list being delayed but th coach isn't one of them.

You'll also notice I didn't even criticise, I was expressing concern for the delay while hoping players were being consulted at the background. Delay could be as a result of confirming players availability, sorting out visa issues, it could also be due to pending issues of none payment of bonuses and allowances of the Falcons. Whatever the reason is, the core of all these challenges is still administrative. We'll hopefully know more in the coming days.

And yes, you almost always defend the NFF. Just today, you concurred in absolving the NFF of responsibility for the Falconets experience in Turkey. It's the same way the Falcons spent hours at the Airport in Abuja just a few months ago because of their ineptitude. Not saying they are solely responsible, but the obviously bear some responsibility.

Don't know what you meant by cheap airline but I know Avianca as one of the largest airlines out of South America. Just like Delta in the US and Lufthansa in Europe. BTW no major international carrier is considered cheap.

The airline rebooked their tickets and caused them a 24hr layover in Istanbul. Nobody planned for that so understandably they didn't have transit visas for Turkey. At Instabul, you don't need transit visas so long as you don't leave the airport transit area.

Because of that, the airline could not book them hotels for the unforseen layover as they cannot leave the airport. I don't get how all this becomes an NFF fault?

Actually I think the list is delayed due to US visa bureaucracy. I mean, it's pretty much certain that all on the draft have been contacted by now. Maybe a few are still sorting out visa issues and the NFF wants to avoid the not-so-good-look of players pulling out cos of visa refusals.

OK here we go

your first line is like setting up for failure, what the coach not giving a list isn't a problem, is like going to the market and buying things for Egusi soup, while expecting to cook to prepare veggies with it

Secondly
this is where you shoot yourself on ur foot,
if the coach not giving his list isn't a problem, then who and who are the Admins going to process visas and other Alternative process for, those hand picked by them for the coach
And just as you express concern for the delay,
I also do by asking if the coach had submitted a list yet,
the answer to that, will make us understand if it's the Admins, that's responsib8for the delay

thirdly and finally
I don't defend nonsense, and almost does not always kill a bird, or does it,
coming to the falconers experience its sad, it tightly is, but what you should be asking, and wanting the Nff to do,

Is after all arrangements had been made, why did the Airlines shift our girls booking to another Airline, without making proper arrangements for it, read again, you will see something like transits visa, of our gals had it, then the turkey airline will book them into a suit for the delay

And.... that's my 2cent

NFF: Why Falconets overstayed at Istanbul Airport

The Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday explained that a number of factors, including the inability to secure transit visas for players and officials of the U20 Girls National Team, Falconets, at the Istanbul Airport, led to the team having to stay 24 hours at the airport in Turkey on their way from the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

“The NFF did not book the team’s tickets from Costa Rica; FIFA did. FIFA also did not envisage the hitches that saw the team delayed for more than three hours in Bogota, and another one hour in Panama. By the time the team got to Istanbul, the flight to Abuja had left.

“Our officials pleaded for compassionate transit visas so as to take the players and officials to a hotel inside the town, but this was not possible as they were informed that Nigeria had been removed from the list of countries whose citizens were issued visa-on-arrival in Turkey. The airline then took the team to a sleeping area at the airport and gave them tickets to have meals every five hours. This situation has nothing to do with NFF, who had made arrangements to receive the team in Abuja before the complications in travel arrangements,” NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, explained.

It would be recalled that the NFF had implored world-governing body, FIFA to intervene with the Embassy of Germany to issue the team transit visas before their departure from Nigeria, in order for the team to be able to travel through Germany. This did not happen.

On the issue of body-wear, Sanusi said: “The players were handed three sets of green jerseys and two sets of white jerseys, several house-wear types and training jerseys. The players opted to wash only their jersey top (no other stuff) because when the first set of body-wear was sent to the laundry people at the hotel, it returned with some FIFA and NFF badges at the front and names at the back peeled by the machine.”

I hope you know that your curse will returned to you and manifest in your life
