I have come back to fulfill my promise of dropping my timeline. I hope it encourages someone

So, I found this thread (part 21)when it was on page 45 or so after I had submitted my application and was wondering what next cheesy...
Hmmm, I remember one of the PPR testimonies I first read was of an approval that was received within 11 days and when I reviewed the docs submitted, I felt I had really messed up my application. Then I read of others that had applied since Sept the previous year. Reading more testimonies and docs submitted, Aaah! I told hubby I think we should have done this and that grin... Well, hubby isn't one to feel daunted by what others have done. Then I got encouraged by those that went DIY like me and received their PPR. That's how I consoled myself ooo.

One other thing I noticed that actually made me feel terrible was the fact that I was going for a prog not really related to my work experience(considering my degree was far from what I had experience in). But when I remembered how much effort hubby and I put into my SOP, I was confident only a wicked officer will not see the larger picture I had painted. hehehe

Well, My cohort was initially for Winter 2022(gained admission last year) but I had to defer till May(which I couldn't make either). Then I was told Sept cohort was full, so Jan 2023 was the next available academic year(reluctantly accepted..Not like I had a choice per se). I sent via web form, my updated LOA and updated account activity reports(for all accounts originally submitted) and my sibling's data page which I also left out initially.

When my application was 5months I started sending emails to IRCC offices ANYWHERE. lol Well, thank God I did, Cos Beijing responded and confirmed my email had been rerouted to the appropriate office(at this time web forms I had previously sent had not been acknowledged). I also reached out to MPs. Those that responded asked the same question, where was I residing in Canada?
On July 7th I requested my notes which hasn't even arrived tongue. Those ones too said there are several requests, Tor!

Finally, on 29th July I received a response to the email the Beijing office had rerouted stating the usual covid 19 bla bla bla. but at least they confirmed it was at Nairobi.

I gave them 2 days then sent a series of emails again and webforms(this time I didn't change the content of my emails).

They responded on August 18th "We have verified the information you provided and can confirm that the agent who responded to you on July 29th, 2022, took the appropriate actions to follow up on your request". Well, that was refreshing enough. So, I decided to take a chill pill. After all, I was for Winter 2023 now grin grin

Anyway, I have learned patience through this journey and I can say for sure that it's the grace of God that speaks for us...Not necessarily all the grammar we note down in our SOP or docs we submit (Afterall someone used POF of a non-relative and got approved). Did I at some point feel downcast? of course! But one thing I was certain of was this, IRCC can't be the determinant of my happiness. I simply focused my attention on other important aspects of life(don't leave out prayers) whilst following up at intervals.

Please did they require you to pay the first semester due fee before you could defer?

Good day everyone,

So I applied for a deferment of my admission at centennial college from September 2022 to January 2023, of which just got approved.
My question now is, do I need to send IRCC my new admission letter or not?.
Note: I've applied for my visa since may 14th.
I'd really appreciate if I can get a response.

Point of correction. Agent can only help you to apply, they don't have any power to offer you admission. This kind of question makes you susceptible to scammers.

Besides, why don't you make a little research on those universities you listed and apply yourself? This thing is not difficult nah.

Thank you, I have been doing research that why I have been able to filter those schools out because they offer what I want, I was only skeptical on getting the admission since I heard the competition is always high. Since you already suggested I do it myself and it’s not that difficult I’ll give it a shot because I no even get money give agent like this application fee is a big deal already since I’m applying to like 5 schools. Application fee to five schools is expensive. You only need to apply to at most 3 if you're not certain of what the outcome would be.

To help you, you need to know if you need to opt for a master's or PGD,

Masters are usually (not always) more expensive than PGD if you're on a budget.
You will require a GPA from 2'1 above and your undergrad transcript to scale thru while you only need as basic as your Waec result to apply for PGD.
You get better funding in terms of Scholarships with masters unlike PGD (not always).
Acceptance to a masters program can take up to a month or more while a PGD can be in 2 - 3weeks.
Masters avail you the opportunity to further in terms of PhD unlike PGD.
Both avail you a pgwp if the school is a DLI and your program duration is 8 months and above.

So do further research and shoot.

Good luck.

1. It is not a red flag. Most people opt for 2 yr program to get 3 yr PGWP, which will give them sufficient time to apply for PR. With a 1y program, you will get 1y PGWP.
2. There are no significant differences between the two.

Thank you so much for your reply. I appreciate.

The steps are on IRCC, you don't need to apply for a new study permit, here's the link https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/change-schools.html

I am so happy to read this. I am new on Nairaland but will really need advice from all the Gurus here...Hubby got offered unconditional admission to Cape Buton...we are clue less on how to go about the Application kindly advise on documents we need to put together

Hi Hannah,

I won't say you are clueless cos you have taken the first step, though it always good to plan the whole process together so that you can submit a strong application. I will offer a few pointers/questions that can guide you and your hubby on what to do

1. You need to determine if you will be accompanying him or he will be going alone.
2. You have raise the funds for your proof of funds ( which is at least 1st year tuition + 10,000 CAD for 1 year)
3. He needs to do medical test at either IOM Ikeja or Qlife in V,Island.
4. When is he meant to resume?
5. Is the course related to his work experience or educational history?

Aside these points there are technicalities that are involved in preparing applications, like writing a SOP that will state why and how of your application and the fact that the funds that will be used for POF would have been in your account for at least 4 months.

Finally, you need to read through this thread to see how some people have done their application, then you can come back ask specific questions based on what you have read here. Another thing, you need PATIENCE in this journey.

All the best

Actually he would have to reapply for study permit if he changes dli
Let me explain properly
Let him travel first of all and resume in the current school before Changing the DLI
If he changes it from Nigeria he would have to reapply for study permit since his current application has already been approved

If you check the ircc website it's says actively studying in Canada that's when you can change dli without reapplying

But if his Visa has not been approved he can change his dli by sending a webform with the new LOA while still in Nigeria

I hope I explained well
Please don't make any mistakes o

This thing is very important

PS: my Visa has not been approved and I also changed DLI if it had been approved I would have had to reapply to change DLI

Meanwhile my elder brother in Canada traveled first because his Visa got approved and when he got there he changed to a cheaper college and all he had to do was inform ircc of the change of school

I really hope this helps you
