Dead people you see in dreams are the one's who are still roaming earth and have not crossed over. Once they cross over, you will never see them in dreams again. Right after my dad passed I saw him in my dreams couple of times but right after it stopped and it's been more than a decade.

Seeing dead people is not something you should worry much about.

Death people do leave a message for us, since they cant do that in our waking stage, they usually do it in our subconcious mind. (when we are asleep)
