By your explanation naira has lost value so your refund will be at the new rate. You will gain

If naira were to be N400/$1 it means it has gained value from the previous $1/N419 so you will loose part of your funds.
Yesboss, thanks for the explanation
Hope it's clearer now

Landing Gist,From Abuja to Halifax Nova Scotia. I left For Abuja Airport on the 22/08/2022 I got to the Airport, I was asked for my Vaccination card, acceptance letter, enrollment letter and passport. I went to collect my boarding pass. My luggages were checked, over weigh,I paid 100 Dollars for excess Luggage my Airline was Air France.
It came to 7:55 We boarded to Paris France. We stopped over at N,Djamena Chad for 1 hour we didn't come down from the aircraft. We left around 11 pm to Paris, we got to Paris 6: am Paris time. We had lay over for 5 hours.
We boarded to Montreal by 12:30pm dot because our flight was delayed for 1hr:30m. We arrived Montreal 1:30 pm local time.
I had already submitted my ArriveCan information and CBSA declaration items through my ArriveCan app, so there was no stress just confirm that my information was true and submitted in less than a minute on the kiosk machine.
I proceeded to the next officer was asked for my ArriveCan, if I carry anything like raw meat as my food stuff, I said no. The young fine girl asked me to proceed to the queue to get my Study permit
the queue was not much, when it got to my turn for study permit, a pretty fine young girl again was the officer, She greeted me with respect and asked for my passport and letter of introduction only printed my study permit and gave me, no questions or queries.
I proceeded to claim my baggages and waited for my connecting flight to Halifax Nova Scotia.

The only issue I had was that immigration gave me 1 month study visa for a 4 year study program, I don't know if the immigration officer smoke weed that day for doing that. when I got to Canada 3 weeks were gone from the 1 month remaining only 1 week, so the CBSA told me they can't give me study permit beyond the validity of the visa on my passport, that I should call the immigration immediately to explain the situation to them to extend my study permit. So I was given 1 week study permit.
I had to contact the immigration immediately they asked me to apply for extension of the study permit online before that one week given to me expires, I did waiting for approval soon. However I explained to the school, and was asked to show proof of extension application,I did. They told me I can start classes. Canada is very beautiful and worth every stress and money spent. I pray that everyone waiting for their PPR shall testify soon in Jesus name amen. Don't give up. Nothing good comes easily.

Which school please?

olutoyiin:
Anytime I visit the Canadian study visa thread, I used to read of how Canadian Visa will test your patience level, I used to doubt it but here I am experiencing it first hand. My application has clocked 9 weeks today and it doesn't seem as though the end is in sight just yet. In the beginning it took almost 7 weeks for my Biometrics and Medicals to be updated and this was after constant mails and webforms. Currently my eligibility review is yet to start and my supervisor and program coordinator just sent me an email that they advised I declined the TA offer for Term 1..........this particular one broke my heart cos the TA team had already scheduled me to give online lessons via zoom and I was already calculating my salary for Septembersmiley.

Anyways I have declined the TA offer and by next week , the school will process my deferral to January.

In all I want to move on from this whole wahala and just carry on with my normal waka without thinking of Canada. I believe God will perfect it in his time.

My fellow June applicant, please drop updates ooooo

I'm sure you must have put together your best, put the fear away and apply, the earliest the better considering the long wait time for approval.
What's the worst that would happen - you get approved and wonder why you were so scared.

Hello Fam,
Just to drop my 50 cent and hopefully give someone insight.

So I've been looking for accommodation in New Brunswick Fredericton for some days now without success.

I applied for UNB residence (I'm going for post grad in Fredericton) and even though I was super late, my application was granted.

Application fee was charged from my student account which was already funded with form A.

Now here comes the icing, they started in their site that I can pay room deposit in my local currency using CIBC and I decided to test it with a $CAD50.00 deposit. Behold to my amazement, I was charged N17772 (surcharges included), meaning they processed it at $CAD1 = N420 which is a great deal. Saves me a whole lot of black mkt stress n forex delays...

By the way, I would like to be added to the Nigerian Association in Fredericton whataapp group.

Thanks

Can I get visa to study for an undergraduate program with a 10 year-old Neco result in canada?
Hi Leadborn

SSCE is generally a permanent, non-expiring certification. Hence, it is valid for as long as you have breath passing in and out of your nostrils. In your own case, you will only need to explain your engagements from a decade ago.

Can't wait to eventually celebrate with you!

The best check you'd get is...

Remove sentiment, bias et al.

Take an objective look at your SOP in reference to all your attachments and question the logic of your argument. If you find holes or disconnects in it, definitely the VO will find it. Address every holes and disconnects.

Ensure your arguments are fluid, reasonable, and solid. Don't just package an application hoping that an angel will sit on the VO's should and he will not do his job well, life doesn't work the way it works in our head lol.

If there's a question arising from your story, answer it in your write up.

Ensure your SOP explicit answers in paragraphs
1. Intro to who your are (your profile)
2. Employment or career history from post secondary to date
3. Family relationships or assets (socio economic home ties)
4. Reason for the study, choice of school, why Canada over your home country
5. Proof of home ties
6. Travel awareness / history (even if you haven't travelled, you'd have researched where you wanna go to)
7. Funding (how you're going to fund our be funded, plus source of funds)

Now you're definitely making some bold claims here and there in your SOP, back every thing up with verifiable evidence.
Overall, be a transparent, realistic, logical, and upfront as much a you can.
Try to anticipate any questions that may arise from reading your SOP / LOE and answer it. Don't forget to mention from time to time in a strategic manner, how you are going to return back home at the date of program completion in a reassuring manner.

That's what I did, and even when I thought some of my dispositions would literally deal my SOP logic, but I couldn't not say them as the inference where glaring, the VO still awarded me and my family x6 visas.

Case in point is I have a loan obligation I service monthly using my salary, however I was granted unpaid leave, but I argued that if I complete my studies and abandon my employment, I'll loose all my gratuity and my outstanding load facilities will be taken by my employer who is my collateral. From this, you'll see that while I'm in Canada, my salary won't be able to service the loan because I won't be getting paid this was a huge red flag, but I chose to be upfront with it rather than the VO figuring it out. He gave me the visa.... transparency.

So please, do take your time to go over your SOP, take the insights from gurus such as makano, frankrobbin, johnstan, justmellow et al here and address every loop hole. One single doubt can make or mar ur application.

I wish you success and overall, positive reviews.

HopefulSuccess:
Hello,

Could someone assist to answer this question.
If you erroneously answered yes to a disability question while applying to a school and you've been mailed by the school that they identify you have a disability after an offer to the school, how do you rectify this?
Is it okay to email them that you do not have a disability and you mistakenly submitted that in your application?
Hi HopefulSuccess,

Disability is not a criterion for admission assessment. Those quarries are there on student support grounds. Therefore, your decision to correct the error in question will most likely not strip you of your admission.

Please go on and email the admission office about your concern.

Can't wait to eventually celebrate with you!

I have a few questions;
I've been admitted to Niagara College, and I need to start my visa process.
However, there are some issues that I'm facing at the moment, and here's the list;

First off,
I am a resident in Dubai, and I run a company here, which makes me eligible to apply for my study visa from here.
Now, the issue is that I do not have a UAE bank account at the moment to show proof of fund.
Will the embassy in Abu Dhabi accept a Nigerian bank account?

Secondly, can I use a Payoneer account statement for my application? I basically use my Payoneer card for every of my expenses in Dubai.

Your application will be submitted as a Nigerian with your Nigerian passport and docs so you will need your Naira account.

Your Payoneer account can stand as additional proof of funds.

Good luck.
