They are so fvvking sure of the audience and don't care much if they lose a few bucks.

If House of The Dragon dropped 10mn viewers under 24hrs for each of it's episodes and actually increasing the viewers on the second episode, you think they'll be panicking for RoP.

It's obvious HBO was set on toiling with Amazon from the onset it set its release date in the same timeframe as Rings of Power. That's not fear bruh, that's letting your competitor know who's top dawg.

Anyways, the YouTube release is also a smart way to dissuade pirates from gaining big off its show. If you can't afford HBO/HBOMax then YouTube got you covered in a legal way with HBO still benefiting from the freemium. Hope you know when it comes to piracy no TV show comes close to Game of Thrones records.

After watching Amazon's LOTR: RoP first two episodes, imma say it's around a 7.5/10 so far.
It's really good, has good storytelling, great visuals as well as diverse cast. I'm not yet feeling the wow effect or something but I must say it's good and I'm impressed with Amazon even with some creative deviations.

In terms of acting, this doesn't come close to HOTD's performers. It's decent. Same as the dialogue, it's quite good but I prefer House of The Dragon play of words with better dialogue and acting working hand in hand.

While HOTD is fast paced and character driven, RoP is more of slow worldbuilding and storytelling.


Anyhoo, it's a great time for fantasy fans worldwide. The largesse is premium epic.

Great numbers on its own, but looking at Amazon's size its looking a bit tame.

After seeing the 2 episodes of each, I'd say The Rings of Power trumps House of the Dragon in various departments including dialogue, thrill, talking points, and ingenuity.

The comparisons of both shows might seem unfair to them.

But who are we kidding... It's an event never seen before. Two epic fantasy shows with FAT budgets going head to head for several weeks. They're very much similar no matter how we look at it.

*Both are prequel shows to bigger franchises
*Both have (white) female leads
*Equally share diverse cast with important POC characters — Black Elves, dwarves and Harfoots in RoP & Black Velaryon family in HOTD.
*Adaptations of the two greatest fantasy book series
*Both have larger than life Fandoms
*Released in the same timeframe and promoted by behemoth parent companies.

What's not to debate?
But while you're at it doing the comps make sure you enjoy both shows. Light banter is good for both fandoms.
I'm all for great fantasy. And great banter.

No mind them the show is great .. beyond great me and babe enjoyed tho , she liked it more than HOD

I can't stand the annoying rivalry culture that says A must be better than B in order for A to be considered great. A and B can both be great without limiting the greatness of the other, I mean, they are not mutually exclusive.

I can't relate to the comparison because, while both are Fantasy, they deal with very different topics. TRoP is about the battle between good and evil, whereas HotD is about the grey area in between. Both appeal to me for different reasons.

More importantly, both have shown that when competent writers are hired and given a reasonable budget to work with, they are more likely to deliver. As a result, it is entirely possible to enjoy them both without undermining the other.

The Capture Season 2 episode 1-4 is out.

Over 13hours of Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and Rings of Power, I'm still yet to see Sauron's face.

I just want to know what he looks like. Was he a man before? I for like get or see his back story.
