Mr P referred to Ice Prince's action to make the above point, therefore, at that particular moment when Ice Prince had no valid license plate, he needed to follow the cops to the nearest police station for "SETTLEMENT" (or get arrested while leaving his car on the road)... thus why the cop jumped in.

if you have all the necessary document for your car then a cop has no reason to jump in (to arrest you), but if you dont....

How do you know it is legal in Nigeria for a PO to jump into your car without permision because your documents are not complete?

Some celebrities should calm down. They should remember they are not above the law.

But they can shoot you and we will shout Black Lives Matter in the west ?

Do Naija celebs break laws indiscriminately in the WEST ?

PO's don't jump into people's cars in the West. Simple.
If you get shot, the law will take it's course and you'd probably get millions

Yes, it does.
When you continue to denigrate those who gave you a better life, you need to be reminded of the evil forest you were rescued from.

No it doesn't.
P is a Nigerian and commenting as a Nigerian resident in Lagos. Anambra has nothing to do with his comment. Only in your jaundiced tribalistic head

You people are confusing what Ice Prince did with what P said.
What Ice Prince did was WRONG!
BUT, what P said is 100% true!

As I told the guy above: there thousands of videos of police stopping cars on YouTube. Give us a link of ONE where police jumped into someone's car as Nigerian Police habitually do!

Yeyebrities sometimes think they’re above the law

You see the thousands shouting for you? There are millions who don’t know you or care about you

Get that into your head

A policeman would get into your car depending on tge scenario.

Stop misleading the ignorant.

Don't misinform people.

I live in the states and for a long time now.
A policeman will never jump into your car in that aggressive fashion Nigerian cops are known for.

Here, a cop will stop you and most times, he would have back up.
He walks up to you, asks for your ID and vehicle papers...and before this, he will cite you your rights and make sure your hands are placed on the steering, and not hidden.
Depending on his interest, he could check your trunk.

And also, depending on your cooperation, if you're uncooperative, that's when his back up will join him and they will ask you to step out of the car.

At this level, it's on the phase of arrest or a higher suspicion of an offence committed.

No police will enter your car in America or tow your car. You only get a ticket. If you have a warrant, they send you to jail immediately and take your car away.

Exactly. And they'll even ask permision before checking your trunk. Which you can refuse to give. At which point they may arrest if they have enough probable cause to warrant an arrest

How do they take your car away?

By towing right?

Depending on how the towing is to he done, he'll get in your car.

The minute a policeman has probable cause to stop your car, he can search it.

One way to search is by getting in the car.

In Nigeria, the police are not as adequately kitted but enforcement could include officer getting in your car as it is taken for an impound or whilst you are under arrest.

At this level, it's on the phase of arrest or a higher suspicion of an offence committed.

There are various phases involved in a stop or arrest or search.

If you as much as make the wrong point with your rear light, a police officer can stop your car.

Once he does so, he would likely run a tag on your car to know its status and owner.

On questioning you whilst outside of your car, your response can lead to an escalation.

If for instance your licence is expired or you have none, an arrest can be made.

Not only that, he can now have the right for a search based on a probable cause.

The search might involve said police officer making an entry into your vehicle.

It might also involve a k9 unit.

Scenarios make for compliance.

The above is for many parts of the US.

Point I still maintain from the beginning is Nigerians would abide by any law in a foreign land but in Nigeria everyone is above the norm.

It pains me that many people did not notice that the tweet of the police spokesman was quite wrong.
It is very rude and unprofessional, and a police officer that can tweet this online can actually "waste" a Nigerian youth on the street.
I can feel the impunity in his tweet.

Driving is necessitated by the police force not being adequately equipped.

exactly.... "in the west".
he also wrote:"The only reason a police officer will stop you and enter your car is just because they are looking for an avenue to negotiate for a crime you did not commit,"... which is not true!
now, in Nigeria, if you break the law then expect any policeman to jump in your car to arrest you... which they did with Ice Prince. therefore since Mr P lives IN NIGERIA, a policeman entering your car and telling you to drive IS CERTAINLY NOT A CRIMINAL/KIDNAPPER. he is just a policeman doing his job.

My friend the fact that you're not aware or that it has become a norm in Nigeria deosnt make it right.
The correct thing would have been to ask the driver to step out of the car, take him into custody for questioning using a police vehicle, while his vehicle is being towed. Note, that I said towed and not driven by the police

In the end, he gets a bogus ticket for his stupidity.
