Good day, fellas. Why do Xtians rarely bear these names? Jonah, Job and others? Most especially, the name Job. I hope it's not what i am thinking?

There are some names Christians don't bear because of their stories and d kind of lives they lived from the Bible, so they don't want a replica of what happened to them in their own lives. E.g Jonah, Jabesh, Judas, Job etc

I think the biggest mistake i would make in life is naming my child Job. Omo, that guy suffer like mad. U self reason am na! How can i open my korokoro eyes and name my son Job? Especially in this Horrible state of the country. No be suffer be that?

Job is a common name in the northern Christian.
Though it's hausa translated
Even Jonah. 'and others' isnt specified so I wouldn't tell.

Op those names are prevalent among northern christians. There you will also find numerous Hezekiah, Obed, Nahum, Hephzibah and co grin

My grand father's name was Jonah, he did well as a Christian till his death.even the church honored him by burying him in the church grave yard instead of our compound. He served the church till his death.

Job and Jonah ar common names among the Northern Christians,I also have a cousin bearing Jonah too.
Infact,in Kaduna State there are a lot of Biblical uncommon names that the Southern Kaduna Christians bear e.g Kish,Hephzibah,Namah,Sheeba,Haggai and so,I have seen a man that name all his son chronologically with name of the old testament from Genesis, Leviticus Deuteronomy and Judges here in Sabo Ungwa Boro.

OP, The only Job i know, was in Sec.sch.

Him dey always fail and repeated SS2 like 2x.

And teachers and friends used to pity him because of his academic struggles and his Name too!

My one time headteacher name is Job and the guy is filthy rich,he is a big time farmer with houses and two cars and he is a you g dude.Infact,he lives teaching that's why he's still into the profession.
