Great CGPA. I am a graduate of history and international studies too. I will advice that you target good schools for PhD. Follow the academia route. Do your masters and PhD and aim towards remaining within the university system. If you don't want that, go to USA for a master's first, and after you can do certification course in a field that is in top demand and get your big job.

Please my people, I have been following this thread for a while now and I will appreciate if someone will give me a detailed answer to my questions.
I'm a graduate of History And International Studies with a CGPA of 3.98/4.00 and I'm currently undergoing my compulsory one year Nysc!
How possible will it be for me to obtain either partial or full funding on MA programs related to my course?

Considering that my course isn't among the STEM, how possible will it be for me to obtain a good job with the post study visa?

What specific MA programs are you interested in? You don’t have to get a masters in your undergraduate studies
I intend going for Peace and Conflict Resolution in Masters

Good morning fam,

Please I have someone close to me done with Secondary school since last year and considering to study in USA....he is an art student ,but he codes very well ,infact he was once interviewed by Punch newspaper for a website he built for his school ....

1) Is it possible for him to switch to an I.T course looking at his art background and his smartness with coding/programming such that his visa won't be denied by VO

2)What are his chances of getting funding for his bachelor's degree as most funding is gotten by those going for Msc or PhD

3)Best exams he can write that will give him edge for the funding.

Many thanks

You can arrive after the start day but not to far off. As long as registration is still on. All in all, God does it. Am a clear example of it.

I think you 100% can be denied for this. Overall, your start date on your I20 is what matters. Even if they give you the visa, you can be denied at the port of entry if you arrive after the start date on your I20. The school is able to give you permission to arrive 1 week late, and in most circumstances this should be fine at the port of entry and they understand the sort of backlogs we have in Nigeria. Anything after 1 week and the chances at the port of entry get dicey. So if your visa appointment is already 1 week after your start date and it takes another 3-5 days to get your passport then the best option is to defer. The consular officers also know this, and likely won't grant you a visa if you will be arriving at the port of entry 2 weeks after the start date. I was in the embassy this morning and it was mostly F1 and they made it a point to tell all the people they gave visas not to arrive after their program start date or they will be sent back to Nigeria

They should join EducationUSA at the US embassy to get all the necessary information and coaching.

They should also be proactive and do their research online.

Most good schools give funding to undergraduate programs and he doesn’t have to have his course picked from day 1. People in US schools especially liberal arts colleges (which offer most courses) switch all the time as you don’t declare a major until 2nd year of college

I graduated from Tai Solarin University of Education. (computer science)
is it possible to go for pure educational courses at graduate level instead of my background during bachelors degree (computer science)

If possible, suggest courses that fit.

Have you gotten admission? If you just applied, then you have to wait for decisions from the admission committee.

For instance, there are schools that have Fall 2023 admission deadline as December 2022. So, even if you apply in September or December, you will get decision around February or March.

It's when you are accepted that i20 would be issued.

I’ve been accepted and even paid my acceptance fee. I’ve also applied for the I20 but I’m yet to receive it
