I really don't know whose side you're on. Maybe you don't live here in Lagos sef. See lagos state staff taking one way. The moment the police intercept them amd they display their ID, they pass them. Just try and follow them, your vehicle will end up in lastma office with a heavy fine. I had experienced this in Ikeja before. I saw 2 vehicles pass amd I followed them, I was in a hurry that morning. The police and lastma passed the 2 vehicles before me were allowed to go. When it got to my turn, they rushed into me amd took pictures. I asked but why didn't they do same to the 2 vehicles and one officer said...they're staff. Imagine.

There's so much injustice in Lagos. Don't pretend not to know, if you truly live here

There is injustice because you weren't allowed to pass?... is that what you learned from this experience? This wasn't what I was expecting you to learn. You should try the same again this new week... and give us a feed back on what happened.

Someone broke tha law and his vehicle was confiscated, so he didn’t know it was his means of livelihood when he broke the law?

Since he wants to assist every predicament-inclined Nigerian, he should also go and bail all yahoo boys in efcc net, as long as they can claim they are into fraud cos the govt couldn’t provide jobs for them

May the God you serve give you just this same amount of mercy when next you break any of His rules.

You're very stupid.
what do you mean??
Now I ask.... because it seems that all these harsh laws were made for the poor, what punishment is for those who have looted our treasure, if such harsh laws are only for traffic offenders?
don't mind the empty brain humans, because they seem to always think without their brains.
lasg killing one's source of livelihood, because of traffic offense that can be fined, is like supporting the same govt to enact the law that can be killing every individual, that commit any offense against the state.
it doesn't make sense, because most laws ought to be for reformation purposes, and not just punitive.
most nigerians always keep mute against their wicked leaders, mercilessly looting our national resources with impunity, but quick to crucify their fellow citizens struggling to make out, a living out of nearly nothing.
our looting leaders deserve more punitive laws than the struggling masses.

Honestly traffic rules isn't enough to sell people's cars. Why not fine them?

How come it’s only in Nigeria we blame government for things such as this, whereas in other climes it’s the citizens that will come together to say we want cleaner environment. Mind you there are already environmental laws. But violators are too many. Can the government arrest everyone in the street? And mind you the people too have a responsibility to discourage violators and report them when they refuse to change. But is there anyone reporting to the authorities?

People come together to hold the government responsible for doing what they're supposed to do. Can never catch all the violators.... but if the authorities are out there enforcing laws many will not risk violating because of the consequences if caught.... to break the law will be like gambling.... one will now ask himself if it's worth the risk.

You sound really bitter! Please mention one country in the world where people's cars are sold off for breaking traffic laws? The offender served a jail term already and you still sell off his car?

after being helped he should do his best to obey the law..... Nigeria will never be great if citizens remain lawless..... obeying traffic laws will reduce road traffic accidents

Modified: For the ones quoting me.
Some of you just wasted so many years in school, but ended up without any iota of education of due process in you.

This is very simple even to the unlearned. These people were given certain specific period to appear in court and defend themselves. All it would have required was just a little fine. Maybe 50k or little higher. But these guys failed to show up.

All these was explained even before the auction started. Lagos state is not at fault. Because of 50k fine, you will now end up having to buy back the car for over 600k plus

Does it makes sense??

You're right but ask yourself, does this law apply to high ranking politicians who drive one way traffic and beat traffic signs with police escort? Look the law is meant to apply to everyone right? If you want to be really fair in your analysis consider the several politicians violating this same law without punishment.

Stop holding brief for these lawmakers who break the same laws they make.

I don’t support lawlessness however, the sanction is way too harsh, charge the violators with higher fines than confiscate their cars.

Some people are still campaigning to vote the landlord of Lagos as president of Nigeria.. We will not only experience such harsh measures nationwide ,agberoism n thuggery will be nationalized

I don't support lawlessness too but confiscating someone's car with complete and updated document for auction because of illegal driving is totally unacceptable.
There's a better option than auctioning, let the faulters pay huge fine or be sentence to 1yr imprisonment.

Did I say there's injustice because i wasnt passed? You just confirmed what I was thinking. You're quite biased in your post. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. I didn't break the law wilfully by driving past a red light. 2 vehicles passed untouched. They even hailed them as they passed. Sometimes, there'd be a red light and lastma would use their discretion to pass motorists...yes or no? I saw lastma ahead and police. They passed the 2 vehicles before me and I followed them. When it got to my turn, they stopped me ,.telling me stories...that's injustice.

Why do people drive one way? Bad roads, traffic congestions. LASG government should play their own role by fixing the bad roads and creating more alternative roads and transportation systems, not just punishing people for taking one way.
