How Do You Feel When Your Friend Becomes Your Boss by UYEMDO35(op): 9:16pm On Sep 19, 2022

Hello guys~ my best friend and I live together in the same neighborhood.

I introduce him to were I was working at the moment because he was seriously in need of a job...

Though! He had a job he was doing but the money they are paying him is just token, so when he came for an interview today.

He passed the prescription test that was given to him, and he was made the assistant Boss and I have been working there for long without been given dis offer.

Being his first time of working with us he has started giving out policy in which I don't like, he's trying to change the system for us making it unbearable for us to cope. And to crown it all, his salary his x2 higher than mine and we both have same qualification.

So am thinking of going to my Boss to lunch complain maybe to ask him to renew my contract.

What do you all think about my step....

Should I still go on with it?

you are going through envy and jealousy but because you dont have a bad mind, you dont know it yet..simply use the law of the ftc...turn by turn..as he be your boss,do as he says..u seff senior another person for the same company...one day u sef go be boss..

I will suggest you go with the flow. Your friends job description is now different from yours.

I won't say you shouldn't walk up to your boss to review your contract/salary. It's a good move, but don't let it sound like it's because of the new staff that was employed ( your friend)

Whatever policies your friend churns out, let it sit well with you... He is just doing his job

Wel I don't know how I would feel cause I'm always the Boss!! I put so much effort when no body is looking so I would look great when everybody's looking!

You are colleagues during work hours and best friends after work so whatever happens at work should stay at work.

You should rather be thinking of how to persuade your new assistant boss to put in a good word for you so you will be promoted too.

It’s not going to be easy given the fact that your friend has already started making some changes that’s unfavorable to you and others.

I had similar issues which I shared here, I’ll never help a friend get an appointment where I’m working, if it’s elsewhere I’ll do that.

If possible let him know how the changes made is affecting you and hear his response and observe his reaction

You did no wrong bringing your friend into the job Arena, as it is being written don't bite the finger that fed you , so as the case of your friend. He shouldn't bite your finger.

Friends grows , your friend has grown in money structure now earning more than you. Not bad but you self wants to level up also.

Not tomorrow your friend drives latest Lexus and you are still trekking makes no sense

Just use the knowledge of knowing him as your friend to level up . And put it to him to help you secure a better position so you can earn more also..

As for you, use this opportunity to push up to a better position..

Don't disrespect him in the office, no matter the hard feelings. Play the game of office respect.

I used to have a scenario at my previous casual job. As the second - class staff syndrome and nepotism/favoritism coupled with psychological, financial, entitlement and moral torture ensuing from that treatment at the place of work ; the ex co-worker got insult rubbed to his injury by the management redeploying his close friend who is a staff at the place of work (real staff, that's what they call it grin

) to our office.

The friend redeployed started undermining the casual one, condescension ensues as he would prefer letting everyone know that his bosom friend is a casual worker, and many more mockery as recruitment phases still pass the casual friend as a result of management delinquency fuelled by favoritism and nepotism.
Despite all these, the casual worker has his achievements to show for his labour and remained calm.

In my humble opinion, having a bosom friend as a boss in the same office is tantamount to a breeding a toxic friendship IF the friend immaturely acts like a BOSS that he was appointed to be and not a LEADER and friend - forgetting that it's a matter of time, and the die is still rolling. The bossed friend should just stay calm, be ethical and take things easy.
