I believe you are the owner. The mango tree in my compound is planted by the fence. Half of the tree is in my compound, the other half is in my neighbor's compound. I pluck mango from only the side that is in my compound and it's always plenty enough. I don't go to my neighbor's compound to pluck the mango. The mango that grow on that side belongs to them. There was no agreement between us, it's just common sense. This means if you pluck the banana that grow into your compound, your neighbor will not and cannot question you.

I am the owner..... by law. Whose property is it in? Same banana tree.... if the parent tree is in my neighbour's yard ....an offshoot springs up in my yard from under the fence ... grows up and bears a bunch of bananas.... does the bunch belong to me or my neighbour's?

Someone has the right to cut or reap or do whatever he sees fit to trees and their branches hanging over his property.... but that does not mean he should exercise his rights which can result in poor relationship with his neighbours and community .
