You don’t even need to own your car, look for rental and be on the road daily. The money is out there. Na drivers dey run from trips now, trips don pass driver.

Even If it’s your own car oh or a partners own, if you’re not up to the task of maximizing your time driving on ehailing you won’t still make any headway.

My brother, even if you give some people the right amount of good tools they won’t still know how to use it satisfactorily to perform a given task. It’s how the world is.

Lolz... people never come and say how much they make and how well they r spending and enjoying d money...but when car spoil they will know how to type.
Repairs and Maintainance is part of the Hussle...if u use ur monthly earnings on repair d next month, so be it. It's part of the risk of the job.
Some bankers don't go home with their salary, some sales managers also have the same risk; paying off loses with their salary.

Every workman keeps his tool well maintained and in good working condition.

Still the risks that comes with this job is on the high side. As someone said your 8 months' savings from this job can just disappear into thin air if any unforeseen circumstances happen. (Accident, Engine knock etc) God forbid

While salary and other low-risk businesses you will always have peace of mind and less problem to worry about

In the case of engine knocking, compressor seizing or gearbox spoiling it’s all the resultant effects ignorance or improper maintenance.

In the case of accidents I will like to re-introduce you to a fairly old concept called comprehensive insurance wink

That's why 75% of workers feels like killing their bosses.

All this vices that you listed is not ignorance somethings just tend to happen.

For instance hitting of bottom plate without knowing which will result in the leaking of oil and engine knocking etc.

I'm not supporting 9 to 5 jobs but I'm also not encouraging drivers to solemnly depend on Ehailinng.

Yes it’s true, vehicles are machines and things do get screwed up on a whim especially if it’s caused by a factory defect but concerning the issue of hitting your sump on the floor and damaging it to expose an oil leakage I will chalk up to carelessness or inexperience.

I mean, your vehicle is low, the road is terrible yet you decided to chuuk head and even did so without reducing your speed angry of course anything that happens next is definitely your fault.

Then when I was little, a classmate of mine’s dad was a taxi driver. He had 3 other siblings and that man trained all of them from nursery to university on a regular city taxi service job with his 504. I know this was over 25 years ago but if it was possible then tell me why it isn’t possible now especially as those same city taxis are still very much in operation with family men manning their wheels? undecided

Lol, it seems we have different visions and how we see life,

No disrespect but the way you quoted how your classmates dad's trained his children to university by doing taxi work, perhaps you are the type of person that will be contented with solving his basic and immediate needs without looking into the bigger picture. If that's the case then ehailing will give such contention. smiley

But if you are the type that sees the bigger picture of freedom other than solving basic needs and "training children to University" then you need to look for an alternate source of income or plan B because ehailing won't pave that road to freedom.

That's why i left out 25%.

How many people can boast of that ones that has level?

I just laugh when i see people talking about sustainability in E-hauling, if you can comfortably pay bills and save small fund to plan other things, then why complain?

I see someone talking about how many E hailing driver can afford Dubai ticket, the question is how many 9 - 5 workers can afford it too, we just have to stick to what works for us and all is about each individual.

What's one definition of success? some are very contented and even consider themselves big boys or girls receiving 80K/month and living in a face to face apartment and not even planning to go or grow bigger, ome are contented with 150K salary and living in mini flat, while some own 1 or 2 house(s) and still not contented. It all boils down to your goal in life and one definition of success.

If one consider himself successful and contented owning a car or driving throughout his life on E-hailing, that's as far he can see, no problem, his life, his goal, his rule, while some are driving to safe up funds for biz, to jap or to finance a project.

Its always funny to me when I hear people say have an exit plan, the truth is that all people posting dash have plans too, Cheerful as an example, who says he doesn't have his own plan too.

Every aboki get wetin e dey pursue and wetin dey pursue am, the difference between him and most is that he is working harder, and probably working smarter and making more money than most in the same line of hustle while he still can.

We get people like pope, pearl, Glix, ReadaDream, Yeye and many more that are doing well in the biz.

Tell me about hustle wey no get him own wahala for this country.

While salary and other low-risk businesses you will always have peace of mind and less problem to worry about

You have a point, but every business has its own risks accompanied with it's returns...high risk, high returns.
I doubt if upto 30% of salary earners have peace of mind.
I urge everyone to reduce their risks by doing the right thing...comprehensive insurance, tracker, dashcam, sharp mind. With this d only thing u will worry about is little repairs and maintenance here and there.
In my daily ajo group, I preach this to them, one guy got his Corolla vandalised and insurance gave him 400k for the rebuild.
Another one had an accident and car was a rigth-off, (thank God for his life) but insurance gave him 2m, within 3weeks he bought another car and was back in business.
First, we have told u d right car for the job - simple, inexpensive and straight forward cars with affordable parts.
Spend wisely and have savings can never be over emphasized. Put urself on salary and spend within that range. The rest should be saved...in d event that u require a repair of the car, that u have been making 100k weekly for 3-4 weeks why should u complain there is no money or there shouldn't be any repairs...even d generator in d house that I use a couple of hours on occasions still develops faults. Talkless of car u will drive for 10-15hrs daily.
Not everything we can write on a public forum like this but even if ur engine knock and u have comprehensive insurance u r covered.

I actually don't want to comment on this issue again, but I like Ur view, to me you sound open and sincere.

Now this is it, with the current reality on ground in Nigeria, inflation, poverty, lack of job for graduates bad roads, no power supply, and the rest.
What other thing can a person do to atleast salvage his own situation?? People should name them??
How can you tell an hungry person to go and learn tech skills like coding, ui/ux, graphics design, video editing, web developer etc. When reality don set in already.
Now the mix-up here is, nobody wants to drive for ever, I believe everyone has plans, and life is in stages.
So if e-hailing is someone's heaven today, people should not talk down on it, don't make people feel it's a crime to drive.

Wish I could do voice note here, would have expressed my self better.

This things we call ordinary here, is what is raking in millions for people in saner country, like ordinary security (gateman), ordinary gardener, ordinary carpenter, ordinary bricklayer, ordinary barber, ordinary electrician etc, as baz001 will likely call them.

If people don't do this ordinary things, how will a vip like u survive??

It's fine if u AV been emancipated like some people claim, leave others to survive till they are emancipated as well.

Let me stop here.

But if you are the type that sees the bigger picture of freedom other than solving basic needs and "training children to University" then you need to look for an alternate source of income or plan B because ehailing won't pave that road to freedom .

No offence taken kiss but the very concept of freedom is subjective, what might be freedom to you might not represent freedom to another man beside you wink no two men can see or perceive life in the same light or color, it is how the good lord created this world.

What is freedom? What is contention? Some people still don’t understand the basics of these two words.

See bro, let me tell you something a wise man once told me concerning this life you and I found ourselves living in . . .

God created us humans to be the same but there’s a reason he made all the fingers on each of our hands and feet unequal , once you understand this very basic concept of life you will be fulfilled in whatever endeavor you put your might into.

“Life is hard - Life is hard” , my guy it,s a giant lie , this life is very very easy but it is the way we chose to live it and the choices we make right from birth that makes it harder and harder for us. Let me give some examples below :

A man who decided not to go to school will not be cracking his brain at every examination trying to pass his papers or think of spending money for fees and books. Forget about being an illiterate, 70% of Nigerians are illiterates already and their lives have not ended, their families still feed and survive.

A man who decides to live in his village compound and farm will not be cracking his brain about where money for next years rent will come out from or where the next meal for him or his family will fall from. Our forefathers lives such long lives and they were happy.

A man who decides to build a small one bedroom bungalow on a quarter plot of land will spend 20% of the amount the next man who builds a mansion on 2 plots of land would spend. They now both have houses in their names but one of them will keep spending more and more to furnish and maintain his house than the other.

You choose to buy a Bugatti veyron and your neighbor chose to buy his Volkswagen Beetle (ijapa) , you both now have vehicles, but only the amount to service the Bugatti veyron will cost 100 times the amount used in purchasing the beetle.

Mr. A has decided to keep only one babe and Mr. B decided to keep more than 3 girlfriends, of course Mr. B will eat enough coochie BUT the headaches, overhead costs and hide and seek he will be involved in concerning those women will be something Mr. A can never understand.

You want to get married and decided to pursue a higher class babe from an upscale background and the other guy wants to get married to but chose to go back to his village to get a wife, you both will get married oh but the lifelong maintenance and expenditures concerning both women can never be in the same bracket right from the wooing stage to the family stage.

Instead of you to barb gorimakpa you decided to keep dreadlocks, gorimakpa needs only N300 to accomplish but you will keep spending at least N2k on products and maintenance for your dreadlocks if you don’t want to end up looking like a mad man.

You decided to buy iPhone 14 pro max for N900k and I decided to buy itel p15 for N35k, they both go on the internet, check emails, do WhatsApp and instagram, take pictures etc BUT the maintenance concerning both devices can never be on par. The second hand replacement screen for the iPhone will buy 50 pieces of the itel I’m using.

I can go on and on with more examples but the basic fact is that in the scenarios above, both of the those men think they are free and contented in their own peculiar ways which may or may not look like so to observers and onlookers outside their sandbox of life.

Learn to tailor fit your lifestyle in a way that it will be right in your own eyes first and stop thinking of what others will perceive of the way you’re living it. Just be upright, law abiding and honest in all your endeavors.

I'm reading things sha!

Me that check oil gauge, water, etc before leaving home.....now it's ignorance (abi Na wetin dem call am)....abi not maintaining my car well that caused engine oil shortage and faulty compressor/condenser.
Engine oil shortage isn't human fault, it is a mechanical fault....Engine issue!

For the records, I chose where I go to. I don't enter flood, except for small waters that won't go past tyre and I usually put off A/C when I enter such. No one can avoid this.
I don't drive to where the roads are very bad. I had taken a lady to community road before and dropped her on the way when I saw the bad road in front. I insisted I wasn't going again. Recently a lady refused to pay me cos I refused to follow akoka/bariga/chemist road to ladilak.

Another said you spend money enjoying and now you come to type because you want to repair! Lolz!
No matter your hustle, whether e-hailing or white collar, you have to still take care of yourself. You will eat, you will buy clothes and shoes(abi you want to wear akisa and be working) once in a while, you will hang out with friends, except you're the type that lives a Sedentary lifestyle, or you're a Misanthrope, which to me, isn't the best kind of life. The life is short already, so why would you live it like you're always mourning?!
Moreover, if you pay yourself salary, then the salary should take care of that!

If I pay myself salary and i save money from the business, and in a space of months, I had spent 300k on only repairs of faults not caused by me, then I think 'FOR ME', the hustle isn't sustainable. It should be a means to an end not a full time, 'long lasting', 'die there' job. I am not disputing the fact that people are making money in the hustle. I am just telling you my own personal experience and my take on the hustle. I am also not discouraging anybody.

I have driven in Lagos for over 15 years without accident. I've driven to Enugu State and back to Lagos, not once. I never used my first car(in a white collar job) to do e-hailing and I never had major issues like this, till I sold it.
