Please I need to know the languages that I'd need to know as a newbie to coding, I'm studying to be a software developer.
I've been learning HTML and Js from freecodecamp and I got some courses on Udemy, but I was told that's mainly for web development.

So far, I've seen so many languages, and I'm sure you guys understand how overwhelming it can look for a newbie,I know it's best not to spread myself too thin trying to learn everything and eventually not knowing any.
So, please, what are the languages I need to learn to work as a software developer.

Do you eat fish?

What fish would you recommend to someone who has not eaten fish before? Is your recommendation the best option for the person?

Programming is like eating fish.

Different people will advise you to pick different species. How are you sure that the one you chose is the one you really want?

The approach i would advise is that you spend the next one month trying your feet in all flavours that you can find. Read, Watch, Practice.

Yes, you would waste some time and resources but in the long run, you would be able to have a fair understanding of their trajectories and see if if blends with your personal vision.

Dont also be afraid to drop one after investing time in it to pick another. Dont be shy to also go back to your vomit.

If you just pick one and stick to it because mister A on NL said so, how would you be able to answer the question that your choice is actually your fit?

JavaScript is top-level of programming language that is also counted as the core technology of the World Wide Web. It is used as a client-side programming language by 97.8% of all the websites. JavaScript was actually used only to create web browsers, but they are now utilized for server-side website deployments as well as non-web browser applications.

Hello Python gurus at home. Please it's been close to three weeks I started learning python and I can really say I have been trying a bit.I am still at the beginner level and I am learning on Sololearn. However while I got to some parts like (creation of functions using Def: )downwards,I started getting things mixed up. The whole loop also did gave me problems but I think I have overcome that a bit. Please who knows a book or document format that I can get to know it more..or maybe some personal tricky codes anyone uses to understand it. I mix list functions up with string functions and many complexities and please suggest the best way I can get myself closer to python to become well grounded.
Thanks a lot.

And please suggest YouTube channels to follow where I can get challenges and questions to do.
And about Frameworks, can I learn Django after learning the beginning basics?
I'm sorry the questions are too many. I just want to set a great path of knowledge and I am an obvious beginner still in some debris of oblivion

Due to the numerous "i want to start programming, which language should i start with" threads on this board i decided to create a thread that will address this issue. I am not a wonderful writer and i won't say i know it all but i will try. I urge every one on this board to correct me where i err an also contribute in whatever way you can to make this thread worth it. I will try as much as possible not to be biased in this write up.

I am not going to go into detail in defining what programming is because i will assume before entering this thread you should already know what programming is. But in summary programming is the act of creating whatever you want with your brain and computer programming is the act of creating whatever you want with your brain and a computer. You can read more from

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_programming

Programmers could also be called software programmers, software developers and other big-big names you can think of.

Feel free to ask your questions, i will try and answer the ones i can my Ogas in the house will help me with those i can't answer

Please every Programmer should try as much as possible to check on this thread once in a while to help answer some questions Newbies would like to ask.

Java is the best for beginners in programming.

For web development yes but I'm not too sure about Android development. I believe you would have to be running an SDK and an emulator simultaneously so you might experience some lag and the softwares might take forever to boot when launched which could hugely affect productivity. I always advice people to go for SSD if you're a developer. An SSD laptop with the same spec could easily be 3 times faster.

Good morning, please is this laptop ok for both web development and Android development.

Dell laptop
Core I7
1 TB HDD
12GB RAM
Keyboard Light
2GB Dedicated Graphics

Nor true bro, java is an OOP language, OOP languages aren't so easy. However, the easiest really depends on the person, despite to popular opinion, when I tried to learn python, it was difficult, but I picked up JavaScript like ABC, so JavaScript is my thing. It's different for everyone.
