Lol
This is a faceless forum, so it's granted you don't know who you are conversing with.
If FG decide to start an internal audit, I'm sure OAU will top the list of the most corrupt institutions.
It's just a normal school, (a decaying one just like most public universities) where the lecturers make life unnecessarily difficult for the students.
Ummm, I hear you.

Great Ife!!

Go to their individual homes and drive them back then.

At least you would have achieved what your clueless government is unable to do.

Mr. Superman.
Please answer my questions sir. What are students going to gain from these strikes?

You are petty too supporting injustice against the poor and suffering masses, as exemplified by ASUU, by a devilish government.

The ASUU is peopled by a principled lecturers with great dreams for the young wards under their care, and not swayed by their immediate entitlement and needs.

Not unlike some people here acting as anonymous spokesman for a government from the pit of hell.

God's unfailing judgement awaits you all.
You’re too grin grin grin ;Dfunny Abeg

The strikes they have done in the past, what have the students gained?

What are the students going to gain from lecturers 100% salary increment?
What are students going to gain from utas? (This is the major reason for this strike)
What are students going to gain from staying away from school for 7 months and counting?

Please tell me mr ASUU member/sympathizer.

My dad told me then, you don't need buckets, you don't need this, that, there are showers in the bathrooms.
He drove me himself to school on my first day. I got Fajuyi Annex, H7. There were bushes everywhere and the rooms were bedbug infested. I guess they were waiting for FG to come and take care of the school, cut the grass and fumigate.
He told he he never stayed in faj during his term, rather Angola and Awo.

They built 1000 seaters then, and the ceilings started failing off few weeks later. I could remember one of the lecturers berating them during a chm lectures while talking about the corruptions in the system. They repainted white house, it started fading off few weeks later cheesy clearly they've use the most inferior paint, despite budgetting huge amount.

Dunno why some people see going to that school as the best thing that happened to them. But I'll be objective rather than dwell on past glory and won't send my kids there if they are going to school in Nigeria.

They should stop and allow nuc do their work.
Any program that doesn't have the required human and materials resources should lose its accreditation.
That way the VC and university council will put things in place to get it back.

During accreditations, ASUU will start running helter skelter to deceive nuc and tell them they have what they don't have.
Then proceed on strike few weeks later, saying they lack this and that

The government should not stop at that.

Vice-chancellors must account for hundreds of billions worth of TETFUND grants they have embezzled.
I don’t know the person that wrote this but you surely made my day. Very excellent points made here and you added jokes as well. Also, you spoke the minds of most of the populace - ASUU has, itself, become the major problem of the university system in Nigeria.

Finally they have climbed the tree almost to the tip of the branches and their fall is next. They’ve been unmasked and totally demystified because of their arrogance and stupid stubbornness. How can you always have months, every year, when you don’t do the job you were employed to do yet you always insist on getting paid when you most likely are doing other side jobs during your strike period.

They must resume classes in shame and if they don’t, they’ll soon get deregistered for persistent insubordination to the laws of the land. It’ll be the end of that shameful union.

Of course, Femi Falana, their encourager-in-chief will have written his name in infamy. It’s almost as if he believes that he is a parallel government, in his actions and reactions to successive governments - inciting open dissent and unexplainable antagonism to successive governments. Gani Fawehinmi never behaved this way - the man (Gani) had enough clarity of thoughts to always call out all sides of the argument.

It has been said too that if you want to lose your case, go and give your brief to Femi Falana. This has been proven again. Stubbornness is one thing, the law is another. Stubbornness doesn’t count in the law courts.

The court should compel FG to yield to th4 demand of ASUU.

If it bandits that is holding someone hostage now, FG will comply.

No wonder we now have more youth moving 5o the bandit/kidnap business.

Where will government get that kind of money ? ASUU is unrealistic after low oil price for years plus pandemic they’re demanding for such .
I’m not exonerating the government for it’s failures too but we most be considerate too one another The ASUU big boys don’t have their kids in Nigeria schooling that’s why they can comfortably strike For 8 months.

Education is very cheap In Nigeria which the Nigerian masses don’t applaud the government for they just criticize how can you be paying 21k for a session and still insult the government with the slightest provocation .

Government needs to enlighten the masses so they can appeal to ASUU to soften their stance because the money is not available and the only way to meet up with that demand is to increase the school fees which will render many student to drop outs .
Then at the end, you guys should stop complaining if either

1.Fees go up

2.Education stays bad.

You get what you pay for.

This scenario is very funny,Assu has been on strike for 8 months plus and the federal government has done a good job of bullying them with the courts knowing full well that the Appeal court is the highest court that can entertain industrial matters...it's laughable if FG thinks that these lecturers would want to return to the classrooms on empty stomachs and the students will suffer the aftermath...if Assu obeys the court order, then 2 things might happen
1:the lecturers might take their aggression on the students hence affecting their teaching abilities(Sha Naija lecturers no dey teach anything normally,85% of naija university students nai teach themselves for university)
2:the lecturers might just obey the court order for a while, get their appeal sustained and embark on another strike..

Both ways it's detrimental to the student..

Wahalla no dey finish..

Let's ask him. So they can discuss how to compensate the students the 8 months they used in "pressing home their demands"
you think a lecturer or teacher will give his/her best if he has family pending issues that requires money? Is it all about student just passing through school and graduating with nothing in their heads? No wonder we can't develop as a country because all what students are being taught are just abstract stuff without any skillful knowledge attached to it. Grades!!! And it stops there. Go abroad and you'll notice they don't even put emphacy to grades but work experience which can even attain while schooling.

Until then.

For now, it is just your own insinuation.

And just for an advice, use this time to learn a technical skill, and stop wasting your time on social media. Other students are doing so, and are not missing the school as much as you are.

It appears you are idle.

Learn tech and earn money.
take that advise since you have not been paid for 6 months and your salary will be used to fund 2023 election cheesy

Most of us attended/are attending public universities.
Even when they are not on strike and are getting paid. They don't give their best, they take it as part time work because it's government work so it's all the same.

How many percentage of the funds that were allocated to the universities in the past were looted?
If those funds were properly utilized, the universities would be better off their present conditions.
Lol...let me tell you something....even before looting...which happens, let us be honest,.....the money given to universiites is small, and not enough for their needs.

The looting makes the bad situation from poor funding worse.

We spend less than 2-3 trillion naira on education as a whole, and about half of that goes to universities. In foreign countries, it is five to ten times that amount ...on universities alone.

Yet you want our universities to look like the ones abroad, and you also want them to charge fees less than 200 dollars a year. Impossicant.

I guess you are a student, or you know some students, and I agree...ASUU strikes are a waste of time. I myself lost 2 years to ASUU strikes, and it was not funny. But the truth is, the alternative to ASUU not going on strike and mounting pressure on government ....is raised fees as high as possibly 1 million or more per annum. It's a guess, but it is an educated guess.

So, take your choice. Either government finds extra money....from loans (you don't want), taxes (you don't want ), removing subsidy on petrol and power (you especially don';t want that) or .....they raise fees.

Personally, I think they should raise fees. That would keep ASUU quiet forever. But poor Nigerians are going to suffer.Very well. Maybe it would become too expensive to go to universities.

The budget of a Nigerian university is less than 50 milliondollars. The budget of Harvard is about 48 billion dollars. Per annum. And yet, you want your Unibadan to somehow look like HARVARD...at the fraction of the fees a harvard student, including the indigent ones...pays. You want your university to be top ranked, at a fraction of the money the top ranked universities spend. ASUU is going on strike to see if that happens. They are being unrealistic. But they know that you guys don't want to get into University of Ibadan, and suddenly face fees of N2 million naira per annum to read sociology there....plus accomodation fee of N400000 per annum. Shey you go pay.?

Yes, corruption happens. But if we remove corruption, and fight it...we still won't have enough money to build standard universites.

If we remove corruption, we'll have something decent. It doesn't have to be like Harvard, even schools in Germany and Holland are not like Harvard.

When it was time to carry out an audit in UI, they said it won't work cos the auditor has gone blind cheesy
If FG were serious they could have dealt with these miscreants a long time ago but they are always careless coz the strike doesn't affect them.

Using 8 months of students life to press home a demand of 180% salary increment while hiding under revitalization funds
