Life of a programmer...
It can be depressed at times and great at other times, at one point, I stopped to look back, "Have I achieve much in the program? How confident am I? Could it be that I have wasted my time and effort?"

These questions are with me everyday, My work wasn't helping in anyway, my boss complained how I was always on my laptop and so, I had to put it away. I always got home late, exhausted and tired, I sleep for a couple of hours only to wake up by 4 or 5am. My waking up depended on the time I slept.

I felt like quitting my job and all focus on learning but some of my colleagues advised me against, I'm glad to have listened to them but it doesn't mean I won't quit in the near future. For now, I will try to save up as much as possible while learning with the time available to me.

Programming is not easy but Alx Program is even more complex!

So, I'm in med school, 4th year, but I have plans of going into software development for specific reasons. Also, I'm already working part-time. Those that are already in the program, you think it'll be possible to combine these and Alx? Thanks

Just use Youtube and get easy tutorials on Git, Shell Scripting in Unix, C Programming, Python, Javascript.

It will be tough but worth it in the end. The program asks you to dedicate 70 hours a week. Daily projects (with 3 deadlines, the 1st deadline in 24 hrs). If you have a passion for software engineering then why not.

This thread has really been helpful... The truth is, there's no way one can escape the shock C programming brings, especially if you're new to it..

I would advise against combining med school and ALX especially as a newbie in tech. ALX is too time demanding, even for pros. I will advise you to teach yourself programming. When you are a bit grounded, 6 months, you can apply for ALX.

Please can we know all the programing languages necessary for the first month? So that we move that out of the way first, cos we can't afford to miss out on first month, #November cohort

For the first print the major programming language is C, but make sure you learn vim & emacs, the Linux command line, git & github, and lastly shell scripting. Know all these before moving to C. Your first month's tasks will be on how to use these tools.

Read from page 1 to 31 and I must say it was worth it(it took me days though lol).

Good job you've done here anonymous606. Keep winning!

My little question though is, upon graduation from the SE program, what kind of certification do you get? And would the certificate bear holberton or alx?
