Edidiong Etim has shown she's a better player. I'll definitely start her ahead of the captain.

Flamingoes scored some very good goals today, individually the team has some nice talents even from the bench

the nice talents on the bench should be in the starting 11.. nice talents should never be on the bench if the ones in the starting 11 are messing up and not taking their chances...

FT: NZL 0-4 NGA
[Amina Bello 16', Miracle Usani 34', Taiwo Afolabi 75', Edidiong Etim 90'+5]

The Flamingoes serve us some fine belters as they bulldoze past New Zealand ahead of their final #U17WWC group match vs Chile (17th Oct). A stunning performance that, Naija.

The pace in the team is too frightening, they chased every ball to the end , Adeshina has a nice left foot and she always hit the target from distance

These girls are not intelligent quite frankly. Their non intelligence will be their undoing when they meet a more clinical side.

How the heck do you miss this much chances?

Especially that Ajakaye, pace merchant. But she has potential.

Congratulations to the Flamingoes. They had a good game against a team they are relatively better than.

My concern really is they wouldn't have this luxury if they play a more composed and technical team.

1. They need to work on converting their chances. They had well over 30 shots on goal, many would have gone in had they been more clinical.

2. The coach needs to make use of his subs for God's sake when we had the game in th bag, players like Ajakaye and Adeshina amongst others shouldn't have remained in th game. It was an opportunity for him to give game time to their potential replacements, yet he kept them there. Adeshina particularly missed too many chances, I'll like to see what her replacement brings to the table.

3. Is there a rule against short throws? The girls made long thow-ins the entire game (they did same against Germany) and they gave away advantage for the most part. Why not make short throws and keep possession?

Ajakaye is all potential, she needs to be worked on. She is probably one of the most gifted players in the team, but I think there's a subtle over-reliance on her. She needs a coach that'll help nature her to her fullest potential

I generally feel good about them, like the subs that came in today made an impact even with few minutes in,they just need some more coaching to be better team overall, they play well

Wait a minute

Is Etim Edidiong of the Flamingoes the same Etim Edidiong of Bayelsa Queens?

If yes, why is she starting from the bench?

It's called team depth

it's called sentiment and bias...

If the players the coach is sentimental towards don't deliver then they shouldn't be in the starting 11 or they should be subbed off at the 50th mins or before 55 minutes....

that's the point... the subs should be the ones starting if they are delivering with the few minutes the coach is giving them..

it was 2 - 0 and if New Zealand had scored and made it 2 - 1 then there would have been more pressure on the team and the coach...

the coach should start players who are more effective and clinical..

All you guys ever do is throwing accusations here and there undecided a player can come in today and play well and start next game and have a off day .....the Coach that choosed to bench them is not mad

I didn't even know Etim Edidiong started against Germany... the attack against Germany looked abysmal so maybe Flamingoes changed formation against New Zealand or New Zealand is a weak team and that's what is making Flamingoes look strong or Flamingoes are truly strong...

if that's the case the team that started against New Zealand should also start against Chile..

they should defend with at least 2 Center Backs there were times New Zealand were on the counter and there was only 1 person at the back which was troubling to me..

they should take short throws like someone mentioned already...

A stronger opposition will capitalize on the errors the Flamingoes were making...

Well said but permit me to disagree a bit with the third point. The long throw gave us the first goal and carved open, some chances too. If it is working well for them, let them continue. From what I saw today, it is what they've been working on in training.

It is not sentiment. You don't go to a war with your full armoury. And at times, you need to have plan B. Aside the missed chances today, everybody did their job well.

You'll notice my concern is when we play a more technical team. We were always going to beat new Zealand. For God's sake I'm not sure they had one shot in target. Even though they had they height advantage, they allowed us context for the aerial duels. If you compare with Germany, you'll notice Germany won almost all of them (including long throws). So moving forward, I'll prefer they try short throws keeping possession than long throws and lose to a more technical side.

Germany 3 Chile 0

And it's just first half.

I guess Chile shouldn't be much of a challenge for us then.

well...I understand you but what if they lose the ball while keeping it short. It could go either way bro.
I'm just more concerned about their missed chances
