codemaniacs:

that curl shots is what is missing in the Super Eagles and Super Falcons and most of the national teams so its at least nice to see the Female teams scoring curling shots...

Ajakaye needs learn how to curl shots.. she could have curled her shot when she was one on one or lobbed the goalkeeper..
That's if they groom it well and it becomes part of their style. To see someone that takes shots from 25-30yrd out in our team is hard. Asides Ajakaye, i think Folorunsho and Usani have the proper confidence on the pitch. They'll look superb in the u20 shirt u23

No.
FIFA tries to make sure during the draws that countries from the same confederation do not end up in the same group, thats why you have all non-top seeded Asian teams, and African teams in the same Pot 3.
Nothing nefarious going on.
justicechichex:

Easiest for the SF will be:
New Zealand, Korea, Vietnam, Nigeria

Toughest would be:
USA, Netherlands, Denmark, Nigeria.

Btw, how's countries like Vietnam, Ireland in port 3 and Nigeria is in port? Meaning they're ahead in the FIFA rankings?

Midfielders dey vex me. That last chance, eho noticed that only Ajakaye and the other girl were in the box, while all 4 of the midfielders were standing outside the box as if it was a pk moment? All 4. Ajakaye transition forward for that chance and there was nobody in the box aside the girl that headed the ball. Defender cleared and it was still same Ajakaye that came and tried to get another scoring chance

Which kine setup we dey use precisely?

It's annoying, i won't like. It's not even about caution. Its just rubbish.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 12:37pm On Oct 17, 2022
Chile has been the better team, they are better with ball movement/transition and have held most of the possession. They however aren't creating chances.

Nigeria has created the most chances and are lethal going forward. Ajakaye has obviously been the best player so far.

The long throws though are becoming annoying. We rarely hold possession when we have a throw. Nigeria should win this though.

Thank you. Even the commentator acknowledges our wastefulness in possession. They are calmer again. Bellow will soon tire out cos she seems to be the life of this counterattack. The rest are there to mark bodies. Contribution is zero.

i hope i did not jinxed it, lol, as soon as i said we were playing well, the girls started to play not so well, we do not find the spaces on the field well.

The game is becoming quite boring. Not sure what the Coach's strategy is, but if we continue to play this way we will be knocked out by a better team. We lost to Germany cause we played exactly like this. It wasn't obvious against New Zealand cause of the low pedigree of th New Zealand team.

Our midfield like you earlier highlited is zero, Chile owns it. We rarely move the ball through th middle even when we've got space, we'll rather go through the wings and hope Ajakaye or Bello makes a run for it. The fullbacks have been lackadaisical in my opinion. Usani shooting the ball when a pass would have sufficed, Adeshina playing like she's tired.

Let's hope they play better in th second half, or at least Chile doesn't up their game lest we see a repeat of Germany

Asides the goal, the 1st half has been wack from the flamingoes. I just think their journey will come to an end in the quarter final with this kind of performances..

I think the team has been set up to see Ajakaye as the genius. See that wasted pass by Usani despite Ajakaye sandwiched by 2 defenders.

Bodies in the box will help but they are none.

I think our wins are due to weaker opponents than better performance. I wish we saw the passing stats by the midfielders. It may not pass 20/90.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by mostob(m): 1:01pm On Oct 17, 2022
The girls are much more better than the tactic this coach is forcing on them. Why must everything go through the wing?
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 1:07pm On Oct 17, 2022
It's a old fashioned 442 we are playing, no wonder. Why didn't i suspect this from the start? grin grin grin
Naija coach obsession with that formation grin grin grin

The formation leaves mosaku and Edafe to be so focused on the respective wings that the two midfielders left have to simple shield the defence so so close. So it is an empty vacuum. A much more technical side would use it to show pepper, volcano dust join.

These girls seem to need 30 shots before they score one goal.

They are unbelievably wasteful in front of goal.

A good team will severely punish us.

Nigeria 2 - 0 Chile
