My toyota sienna 2007 consumes 20 liters for a 20km drive from egbeda to ikeja airport. No check engine on dashboard working perfectly but no catalyst  Please I need your advice to solve the problem

Blackbishop:
If you are having issues with your engine, this are the most common engine problems, this post should help!

When your engine fails, it isn’t a good thing. Not only will your car be down, but it can be hard to diagnose and even harder to repair.
The most common issues includes

*Missing or loose gas cap
*Worn out spark plugs
*Dirty or clogged radiator
*Loss of engine compression
*Faulty or worn out Oxygen sensor
*Spark Knock - which if left for long can cause serious damage to the engine
*oil pump failure
*Dirty oil or oil shortage
*Poor Lubrication of moving parts
*Bad Air/Fuel mixture

Once you notice any of the above problem, you need to pay attention, cause they tends to affect each other in a way that result in total engine failure.

High Fuel Consumption: What are the likely causes

High fuel consumption is a particular issue any car user will understand when the car starts acting up.

So many times, I have had customers complain of serious fuel consumption and most kazeems (road side mechanics) attribute that to catalyst or indomie (a term used by those mechanics).

So what are the most like causes of high fuel consumption? It is worth noting that in Nigeria, we majorly have access to bad fuel according to the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry, Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto. The quality of some fuel in Nigeria is way below international standard.

Likely causes of high fuel consumption could be from the following car parts and driving habits:

- Oxygen sensors
- Air filters
- Spark plugs
- Fuel injectors
- Air Conditioning
- Idling
- Using the Wrong Gear
- Aggressive Driving
- Faulty engine
- Using Poor engine oil
- Poor quality fuels
- Worn out tyres
- Poor maintenance and short distance
- Worn-out clutch
- Warming the car in the morning.

The best corrective measure is to fix the likely cause listed above after running a comprehensive diagnosis on the vehicle.

Most car users refrain from the doing simple corrective maintenance due to negligence and even procrastination. When it comes to car maintenance, ignorance is simply no excuse.

To curb unnecessary visits to the fuel station, pay attention to the most tiny detail such as the gas cap of your cars. You might sit back in the car while it is being fueled but always make sure the fuel cap is tightly locked before you start the engine.

I have started an Instagram Live session where people call in to ask questions and I have been able to proffer the best possible solutions.

Follow me on Instagram @b.automobile_nigeria and tune in for the live session every Saturday when at 4pm.

C1201 – Engine Control System Malfunction

A fault is found in Toyota SUV engine control system and is detected through the CEL (Check Engine Light) and running a Diagnosis, the fault code that came up are P0430 and C1201. The fail-safe feature of C1201 that came up on the dashboard bans the operations of VSC and TRAC. When the signals from the engine are input normally, the fail-safe is cancelled and the DTC is not stored.

One major issue with this C1201 code, it comes with other fault codes; mostly

P0455: Evaporator Emission Control System Leak Detected (no purge flow or large leak)

P0441: Evaporator Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow

The 3 codes are related to each other.

The C1201 code is the one which tells the vehicle to turn on the light of the check engine and to disable the traction and VSC. Basically, when the other two codes pop up, this one is responsible for letting you know that there is a problem there. This one can also be solved by changing the other codes because they are the ones that caused it.

But in this case I have to deal with P0430 – 2007 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER – Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2.

Causes

Faulty Three-way Catalyst Converter Bank 2
Exhaust Tube
Intake Air Leaks
Faulty Oxygen (O2) Sensor
Faulty Fuel injector(s)
Leaking Fuel Injector (s)
Faulty Spark plugs
Improper Ignition Timing
Dirty Air Filter and lastly but rarely
Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

After fixing the P0430, the next step was to check if the VSC light on the dashboard was gone or still showing. Which was showing with the CEL.

C1201 codes is mostly corrected by changing the gas cap tank to an OEM gas cap to solve the issue.

In conclusion we decided to order for a new one online to solve the issue and the car now run smoothly.

I hope you are well aware that I spent 30k on two knock sensors from you that ended up not working. You had to switch it to another one you got from another car. I've just let this slide but don't take me for a fool. You literally didn't want to pick my calls, even sent you a message and you literally read it and didn't reply.

Na God go judge you lass lass.
From the screenshots of your chart with him, it appears you are lying and just trying to pull him down because of another misunderstanding that is not related to the initial issue with your car, which he perfectly fixed and you showed so much appreciation for. If true, I think you are mentally not ok.

Abeg help me. I have been battling with engine misfire and random misfire since the beginning of the year and no solution still.

It is a Camry 2007 3.5L 2GR-FE engine.

I have changed all the spark plugs. The car was fine for few months. After some time the car was vibrating and hesitating during acceleration. I got P0301 after scanning it. I changed Ignition Coil on cylinder 1 about 3weeks ago.

As I was driving home today, the car started hesitating whenever I try to accelerate and the check engine light came up and started blinking.

I got P0305 after scanning it when I got home. Below are the data readings I also got from the VIEW FREEZE FRAME.

LOAD_PCT(%) = 85.5, ETC (F) = 189, SHRTFT1(%) = -3.9, LONGFT1(%) = 3.9, SHRTFT2(%) = 0.0, LONGFT2(%) = 0.0, RPM(/min) = 2340, VSS(mph) = 40, SPARKADV(*) = 17, IAT(F) = 104, MAF(lb/min) = 6.666, TP(%) = 31.0, O2B1S2(V) = 0.700, SHRTFTB1S2(%) = 99.2, O2B3S2(V) = 0.640, SHRTFTB3S2(%)= 99.2, RUNTM(sec) = 360, EQ_RATB1S1 = 0.999, O2B1S1(V) = 3.483, EQ_RATB3S1 = 1.005, O2B3S1(V) = 3.301, EVAP_PCT(%) = 100.0, WARM_UPS = 15, CLR_DIST (mile) = 78, BARO (inHg) = 29.4, EQ_RAT11 = 0.999, O2S11(mA) = 0.113, EQ_RAT31=1.005, O2S31(mA) = 0.000, CATEMP11(F)=1188.14, CATEMP21(F)=1188.14, CATEMP12(F)=936.14,CATEMP22(F)=1188.14,VPWR(V) = 13.164, LOAD_ABS(%) = 61, EQ_RAT= 0.997, TP_R(%)= 13.3, TP_B(%) = 66.3, APP_D(%) = 32.2, APP_E(%) = 48.2, TAC_PCT(%)=30.6

Toyota Engine which falls into the most durable of all the engine they use will be 2GR, and 2GR engine comes with Toyota Brands like Camry, Sienna Highlander etc. Most 2GR engines comes with oil cooler hose, but at point those hose couldn’t withstand the pressure and gets damaged. Toyota decided to recall brands with the 2GR engine to replace them with metalic pipe.

1st & 2nd picture: That is the hose that comes with 2GR engine 3rd & 4th picture is the recommended specification

This sigular error has led most motorist into damaging thier engine, because the hose can get damaged anytime and mostly while driving and you will never be aware until the engine cracks and knock. I mostly advise car owner using the hose type or who are not aware to always pay attention to the hose and check frequently.

Components Of An Electric Vehicles

1. Charging Ports - It is a point to connect an external source of power to the vehicle to charge the car.

2. Battery Charger - Converts the Alternate Currents (AC) coming from the charging port to Direct Current (DC) to store on the battery pack.

3. Battery Pack - Is the electrical storage system of the car.

4. Battery Management System (BMS) - Is an electric system that monitors the battery pack by protecting it from operating outside the stipulated parameters.

5. Power Inverter - Is an electrical transformer that takes in direct current and coverts it to a higher value in alternater current.

6. Power Inverter - It converts the Direct Current (DC) to Alternate Current (AC) to be used by electric motor to drive the vehicle.

7. Electric Motor - Converts the electrical energy to a mechanical energy.

P0404. EGR valve circuit range/performance problem
P0455. EVAP system very large leak detected
P0353. No 3 cylinder ignition coil circuit malfunction
P0457. EVAP system leak detected/fuel full cap loose or missing
P0497. Evaporative emission (EVAP) system low purge flow detected

It seems like EGR and EVAP are the main culprits

I was almost a victim of this damage, but thank God ~I was not far from home that day. The dashboard showed low oil, but I overlooked it thinking it's triggered as an error; I was 2-3 miles away from home. On getting to my gate, I highlighted to open the gate, and that was when I heard that clanking sound coming from the engine. I immediately open the gate and parked, as the remaining oil drained out overnight... I could not sleep that night. Called 2 mechs I know to put my mind at rest that the engine is not gone yet... But with their neutral answers, I started checking online for price of a 2GR engine... It was around 500-600k... I waited ontill the next morning to know my fate.

The mech found out where the leak was from, it was a Sunday morning, so we used a temporary hose before I changed to the new metal one....
I was happy to found out my engine is still in good shape after getting another oil (buying another 6ltrs oil for the second time in 2 weeks) lol.

My camry 05 is giving me issues.
1. Battery runs down very fast after turning off the engine for say 5 to 10 minutes. The person I bought the car from said the battery was recently bought. I had the kick starter serviced, also the alternator charges the battery while the engine is on but the issue persists.

2. The brake is a mess. I will need to press the pedal very very down before braking. My mecho has done bleeding and reset but the issue persists. Also the hand brake does not work.
Please what could be the causes and remedies?
