Oh, this must be new then, my apologies! Makes no sense, just like you've said. But is this only applicable if your permit was refused the first time?

Cheebu:

I beg to differ. I only submitted my passport last week. I went with the yellow strip and I still paid the money. A lot of folks were complaining. I couldn't explain it myself either.

The attendant categorically said that if my application was approved the first time, I wouldn't have paid the money. What does that even mean? Lol

Correction: if you have a valid visa on an old passport, that visa will still be valid even though you have a new passport, that's why the immigration will stamp "without prejudice" on the old passport. You can still use the visa, just take both passports along for your trip.

Secondly, if you renew your passport, send the new biodata page through webform and to Nairobi email and when you receive PPR, you can send the new passport, it will be stamped, regardless that you used an old passport for the initial application. Just like you said, the old passport number is indicated on the new one and there should be no issues.

Hope this helps.

What if you have the Visa stamp already before renewing the passport prior to your travel? Will the Visa still be valid

According to the male attendant, it's only applicable if your permit was refused the first time. But the information the lady attendant gave was quite different. She said you only get to pay if you don't have the yellow strip & if your biometrics wasn't done in the same year you got your PPR.

It was just chaos!

Yes, visa will still be valid. Note: check the validity date on the visa o, the visa is valid until that date.

Hi my case is similar, I’m going for a 2 years course in Durham college in May but my pp expires 2024 I have approximately 1 year left. Would they stamp my pp for 1 year or reject it? Because if I don’t submit for visa processing now I might not make May 2023

You don’t really have a problem, you’ll renew your passport in Canada when it expires.

Good luck. Heading to Durham too, can we link up?

I agree with you. I didn’t get approved the first time, I got it the second time and I didn’t pay a dime. Though I sent it to where I did my biometrics.

These people dey use us cash out big time.

It’s well, PPR is the goal.

Are you sure you are in this same Nigeria? Hmmmm, things are happening o.

quote author=jaydave post=118237374]According to NIS they won’t attend to renewal only if it’s 6months to expiration , I don’t know if the policy has changed now . I doubt if they would renew ur 8months to expiration pp, but if they do, u have to let ircc knw bout ur updated pp via webform so by the time ur application gets approved you can able to submit the new passport for stamping instead of d old one

It means u must hav a valid pp thru out ur expected time in Canada, and this can be one pp all thru or combination of old and reissued pp… for instance u have 2yrs validity on ur pp and u are goin for 4yrs course so u would approach NIS to reissue 5yrs pp for u ? U dey jonz …lol …dey won’t even attend to u until u have 6months left as expiration date on ur pp and 1yr for naija in diaspora

Good morning my people. I have $250 in my fidelity bank Dom account and I decided to take advantage of the recent hike in dollar price to withdraw and sell it to aboki. But I've been to the only two fidelity bank branches in my state and they both are claiming they don't have dollar in cash to give me. So I want to know if there is a way I can sell it online at current black market rate. Pls note that the dollar card linked to the account has expired and I've not renewed it. Thanks

Second time asking please, if anyone that has sponsor abroad or knows about this could help.
My sister abroad is my sponsor and her funds is in foreign currency. I am hoping to apply for next year towards Fall 2023 entry but we are trying to get some advice on funds.
Would you advice she leaves the funds with her or should she transfer it to her Nigerian account?. And if she is transferring, does doing a lump sum close to the application time look bad, or should she start now and start transferring over a period of time monthly?
Generally, what should someone who has a foreign sponsor do about POF ?

She can leave her money in her account in foreign currency. Let her provide her pay slip, statements of account, letter of sponsorships, maybe some utility bills, your pictures together and other family pictures together with her to proof shes really your blood sis and ready to sponsor you.

Also she can send the money to you own account so show that it will be available to you. Then send proof that she sent it and you explain the lump sum. If you have account too, you can start building it

There is no point sending it to her naira account instead she can send to you. This is my opinion

Hi again,

Typically, passport renewal is done six months to expiration of your passport. However, they have what is called "migration" or something like that, you can renew your passport if you have more than six months to the expiration, especially for reasons like getting study visas. Yes, you pay more but it's achievable.

This is what I was advised to do. My passport expires Aug 23. I did migration in Sept and paid extra 10k.

Go as for any aboki around the bank. Transfer dollar to his dom acc and he will transfer naira to you. That's a cashless transaction

Hi Everyone, am planning to move to Canada next year through study route but am a 27 years old fresh graduate currently doing my NYSC in Abuja which is suppose to end next year year February.
My major sponsor is my elder brother because I don't have a job of my own and money to sponsor myself.
My question is that do I stand a chance of getting visa judging by my age and the the person that is sponsoring me?
